Planks as a problem can be solved enhancing a major element in the game.

I know that some products of processing skills end up being more like an XP farm than anything else.
But planks have the potential to have a real demand and a role in the game.

Something needs to be changed first. The genie and the big turkey are powerful beings if you think about it, why would they be your slaves? It doesn't make sense, so... your clan needs to hire them, if your clan has the needed amount when the day resets, it is automatically taken from the clan vault and it enables the event page. Any member can deposit at any time and when the conditions are met, the events would open.
(How much would it cost is up to the balancing team to decide)

Ok, now there is a reason for a clan to stack money and this is where planks come into play!!! Clans officials can access an arsenal where they can craft attacking and defensive stuff using mainly planks.
Attacking: Ladder, trebuchet, battering ram.
Defensive: Stakewall, chival de frise, drawbridge
These are just quick examples.

And they will be used for clan raids.
Hear me out:

In the clan raid GUI, you have a timer going down, each attack raises the percentage.
This percentage represents how much you're looting out of the max amount.
The max amount is based on the other clan housing.
The defending clan's defensive arsenal takes part in the combat, it increases the amount of damage needed to reach 100%.
Each player participating at the start of the attack increases the attack power by 10%. This means a raid with 10 players will be twice as effective.

For the attacking clan, their attacking arsenal would be consumed, meaning that it may not always be profitable (these weapons should be expensive to craft, adding strategic depth). As for the defending clan, they lose their defensive barriers (not so expensive), the gold taken by the other clan (being able to be in debt).

A clan in debt cannot be attacked until they recover financially.

It's an idle game, and this sounds pretty complicated - I think instead of changing clan events and how they work currently, it'd be best to introduce a different game-mode or skill that uses planks.

I'm just personally not a fan of some of the things said such as "may not always be profitable"(rog and cit are free, only costing time) so wouldn't make much sense to me atleast to not be profitting every run, whether it be small or large. I'm also a bit unsure of the exact meaning of clan raids(is it clan vs clan?) or is it more like a clan raid for an NPC, because you mentioned "defending"(against..a clan?) - personally not that competitive so wouldn't like that but could be overall healthy for the game but that's just my personal preference
