Currently when an item is in your inventory, right-clicking equips it and left-clicking opens the description. When it is equipped, left-clicking unequips it and there is no way to open the description.
I find it more fitting if when equipped, right-clicking unequipped it and left clicking opened the description.
Also for the equipped toolbelt to show the active tools when you hover, just like with enchanted jewelry.
