Heylo, I recently of the time this March have been enjoying Wayward a lot but Ive been noticing few small things or additions I would really liked and daydreamed about what I think would REALLY fit the games setting.

Here I would liked to discuss thoughts and concepts that would fit the games Vanilla qualities and expand on it with the possibilities and hopes that they could be potentially added if the devs like them of course.
To note these just concepts and suggestions and final ideas are of course up to the devs the way he want to implement them their own way but at least my suggestion can help and direct them towards a polished product :)

First concept or something that I felt like the game could use is something to help with food preservation, so let me introduce...

Preservation content

Salt box is a simple structure made out of Logs, rope, grass and clay for insolation and mainlly... Saltpepper.

  • The idea of Saltbox is simple for storing and preserving all kinds of food that has a natural decay to them, this includes meat, fruits, vegetables and other parts that like can decay
    Quality of the structure will affect passively the extension of preserving food as it nearly stops the food from decaying and legendary version prevents food from spoiling completely.

Water Barrel is a solution from hoarding all contains of water instead of having a logical and simple solution to just keep it in one same spot.
Made from Planks, Rope, metal for reinforcement and glue for insolation.

  • Water barrels allow you to store one kind of any liquid (yes even medicinal one) to be able to store and carry large quantities of water for cooking or consumptions, this will allow you to even use them for crafting directly from them and can be picked up and carries for travels as a good source of supplies for traveling.
  • Legendary quality and others will increase the maximum units of water they can store.
  • When broken also creates puddles of said liquid.
  • Can be used from inventory to scoop up an entire max storage from the sea to instantly fill it with seawater.

Drying Rack is a early solution for preserving food without the process of cooking but SMOKING instead. This doesn't eliminate the use of pemmican's however gives rather a alternative method of drying food.
Made from Poles, strings and stones you can make your own primitive drying rack for smoking and drying fruits and meat.

  • Dry food has value is drastically affected and its nutritious value included so not only it feeds you less then the original item does in its raw form, it also drains your thirst a bit so its fairly balanced still making pemmican's supreme.
  • Drying rack requires to be fueled and lit up whenever you want to dry any food on it just like water stands.
  • any food dried wont be affected by decay

Lastly... Jars are a alternative for preserving food with a more extra steps and requires a bit more than just drying or preserving but still resources required.
Jars are made from Refined sand, mixed with cork just like any glass bottle but requires a bit more resources.
How does jars work?

  • First of all Jars helps to preserve some food in a new and more passive method of traveling, you can still use jars for storing water and drinking from them but its a ultimate food for pickling, medicine and fruits.

Making Jam

  • First you fill the jar with fresh water or desalted water.
  • You start a fire and boil the fruits with the jar and water together and make Jar with Jam
    Making Medicine
  • First you fill the jar with fresh water or desalted water.
  • Then you boil it over a fire with a lots of herbs and make Jar with Medicine
    Making Pickled vegetables
  • First you fill the jar with fresh water with saltpeter or even better, seawater.
  • You then combine the vegetable with the jar in crafting recepies and make Jar with Pickled vegetables

What are the benefits?

  • Jams restore relatively balanced stats of health, food and water.
  • Jars with medicine recovers health and gives passive health regeneration over few turns.
  • Jars of pickled vegetables recovers mainly a lot of food and energy.
