I seem to remember at some point, seeing a post pertaining to, if you're after one item, an Ahrim's robeskirt for example, its better to go straight to Ahrim, kill him, or go straight down the tunnel and to the chest..

Is it really the case?

It is a slightly faster indeed, but not a noteworthy increase

Also kills the rate of elites if you are interested in those

just stick with killing all brothers only

Each brother killed adds an additional roll to the chest, with 2 rolls at 1 brother killed and 7 at all killed. U could time runs with varying amount of kills and calc whats best but i imagine itll be to kill all. (or potentially to kill all till u find the empty crypt)
