Hi, I'm a controller main and usually play omen on ascent, so thought i'd drop my 2 cents here

#

Round 1: I think you kinda wasted your blind because the yoru was already dead by the time it went out but that's not too big of a deal
Also at 1:24 (in the video) you were aiming at the dead chamber's trip where you could have been swung by the gekko and your crosshair would have been on the ground

#

Round 2 was alright. I feel like you could have been more aggressive and taken some longer range fights inside garage with the marshall because you correctly guessed that they didnt have armor

#

Round 3: nothing to add here
Round 4: nothing to add here, hard luck on that spam

#

Round 5: I think that swing outside garage was really really risky. You'd only seen 1-2 guys A long and swung out with a spectre for a mid-long range fight

I actually think killing the gekko was a decent call because he had his ult running towards your teammates so killing him makes sure nobody gets detainied

#

Round 6: nice aggression, in hindsight maybe you wanna tp outta there but i wouldn't have done it in that moment either xD

You definitely get 2 there if it wasnt for the movement inaccuracy

#

Round 7: I think this round was a bit of a throw. I'm not a fan of the comm to push while yoru's in his ulti coz you're fighting alone against a full buy with your half buy.

The blind came out very late (everyone had definitely left the flash zone by then). I think you could have used your smokes instead to get a better gunfight for yourself

#

Round 8: im a bit iffy on the smoke A long, on one hand the jett has an op, on the other my man reyna is out in the open, sage probably needs more help at sewers coz they're alone

when you swung the reyna, I think using your blind would have guaranteed you a kill there coz you know he's alone

nice pistol kills, those guys really gave you free guns

I think the smoke at 12:05 isn't the best because now you can't trade the reyna who's walking into garage, a better smoke might have been CT

#

Round 9: nice turnaround flick, not much to add; on a more general note you've had your ulti for 4 rounds now and you've not used it at all

#

Round 10: I think the blind was insanely good for your jett, but then you kinda TP'd alone into the open on a site with 2 people, where your jett couldn't trade you

Some options:

  1. Smoke and tp into the smoke
  2. Use your ulti to either reposition or get some info on their positions inside site
  3. Wait for jett and retake 2v2 together
#

Round 11: you're looking B main while scaling window which is so so so scary. There's no way they can be B main in 5 seconds without making noise but there's a very high chance they could be in window

#

Round 12: Love the comm to reyna, you read that jett perfectly;

that jump peek at 17:19 is a bit counter productive coz now if someone sees you, they're spamming you for sure

#

OVERALL DEFENCE: Nice 7-5 half, you didn't use your ulti even once which is something I think you might want to look into because you could have flanked a lot faster some of those rounds if you just ulti'd behind them

Something else of interest might be posititioning yourself in a more aggressive spot when you want to use your blinds to get kills, when you've blinded for yourself, it's been in places where they can take cover in 3-4 different places by the time you swing and you can't clear all of those before the blind runs out so it ends up being more of a stalling blind

#

I haven't looked at attack side because some work came up, but let me know if this is helpful

Oh wow thank you for this !

I have some questions, if that's okay

  • You mentioned my lack of ulti usage, in these rounds, when would you have used it and why ?

  • If you'd make a list like hooj's notes, what would be the main points ? What I'm seeing here is : Think more about why I throw utility before throwing it | Use my ulti more, 2 per half (?) | Try to take more kills with ny blind

#

Once again thank you for your time 🙏

Oh yeah thanks for bringing that up, so typically there's a few ways you'd want to use your ult on defence:

  1. to get to a "weird" spot on retake: this could mean just turning up in a place they might not expect when your team is getting ready to retake

  2. to fast rotate and help your teammates fight: imagine a sova on your team tags 4 or 5 people running down A long, now you might want to tp onto site and hit them with the paranoia as they're walking up A main

  3. ult for info: pretty standard

  4. ult out of a tricky situation: say you get a kill somewhere, you're hiding under cover and just waiting for the enemy to swing you because there's no escape...now you can just ult away to safety

  5. fake an ult to disappear temporarily: this one is very very tricky so be careful, it's worked for me once in the 2 years I've played valorant. It's the standard stuff you see on the Valorant TikToks/Reels where you ult out of an angle, enemy goes by you, then you cancel ult and they don't expect you to be there

#

I don't think I'm experienced enough in the way of the banana to give you Hooj notes xD, but I would say your takeaways from that were pretty spot on:

you gotta ult atleast 1.5 times on average in your next 5-6 games (in defence half)

try to get atleast 2-3 kills using your blinds? I'm not sure how feasible that is but I think if you're hitting that goal easily, aim for more

Okay thanks !
(yeah I hit number 5 quite recently it feels really good when it works out)

And yeah I just checked, my average ult usage per round throughout my games is 0.1 🥲
I'll make sure to play around it next time

I tried applying what you told me, but I feel like my ultis were kind of eh

okay lemme skim through the vod real quick and check out the ulti rounds

#

Round 6: Nice flash to get yourself a kill, I think the ulti here was a passive one in a 4v1 situation so its tough to expect this to give you high impact

#

Round 12: good ulti, you caught the KAYO off guard, and you got unlucky on the blind otherwise you had phoenix ezpz

#

I think you're comming to your teammates that you plan to play off ult as soon as its up which is definitely a step in the right direction, the high impact ultis will come with practise (you will have a lot of bad ultis as well, its just about limit testing)

#

Round 17: I really liked the idea here, you came out of nowhere and flashed the defenders on site; you missed out on the timing imo, if you had been there about 5-7 seconds later your teammates would be a lot closer and the value you would have had would be 2x ATLEAST

Btw this got good value for them too (i.e. nobody close site and 2 in CT)

#

General pointers:

-> think about what you're going to do with your tp before you hit it
if i see someone what do i want my team to do?
if I don't see someone where do I want to go?

-> take good fights, Round 17 if you took the first kill and regrouped, your team would be in a 5v4, and you could have refragged later with them nearby to trade
