#Add a Lubricant input to Turbines to allow for more power generation and better turbine operation

The Problem: Turbines are an incredibly limited and annoying multiblock to use for power generation. While they do scale up with rotor holders of higher tiers alongside rotor stats, the core issue with them is the punshing rotor mechanics. The large combustion engine and gas turbine both unlock at EV, but the LCE's oxygen overclock allows it to generate a flat 3A EV max, while the LGT's nominal output of 2A EV requires special turbine materials to reach the same generation capability. In addition, the LGT's rotor mechanics make it on average worse performing, as the rotor degrades while being used and must be kept constantly running for the LGT to efficiently use the provided fuel.

Proposed Solution: Add an optional lubricant fluid input to the turbines (gas, steam, and plasma) to allow them to consume lubricant (1-2 mb per second) in order to:
Increase the rate at which the turbine increases/decreases its RPM by 4x
Increase the RPM by 2x to run the turbine twice as fast, which consumes 2x fuel and wears out the rotor 2x as fast as without the lubricant boost.

Why I think this is a good idea: The boost in power addresses the core issue of the Gas (and to some extent, the steam) turbine - in many cases it's not worth making the multiblock when the turbine requires manual maintainance, the turbine has to be kept running at full speed, or else it runs less efficiently (wasting fuel), and it doesn't even generate significantly more power (unless using HSS or better materials, which are unlocked quite a ways down the line from the turbines) than the single-block variants. These changes would add an incentive to using the large gas turbine by allowing it to actually generate significantly more power per multiblock than the large combustion engine, while also allowing a way to mitigate the worst effect of the turbines (the starting/stopping of the rotor mechanic).

I do personally think the rotor speedup makes turbines way less viable than combustion, though I don't think requiring lubricant is a good idea as that'd be both generators requiring the same fluid

#

Hog also feels easier to scale than nbz for the double downside, though I'm not sure whether that's actually the case

They feel pretty op to me

The turbines feel OP to you??? Wait until you find out about numis and ECEs

Turbines legitimately feel like the worst power generation option in EV

#

this is something that would have to be implemented in GTm itself

#

that or it would be a separate multi that I would have to implement in java code

#

i suggest taking this up with the gtm devs
