Since we already had dynamic weather mods previews coming out, I have noticed that rainy weather which causes thick volumetric fog brings lot's of ghosting like seen here https://files.catbox.moe/unpdsw.mp4

I believe it's due Screen Space Global Illumination and I do wonder if we could get Lumen HW option to use instead which would fix this issue and not face any Screen Space visual artifacts.

I noticed the same issue when muzzle smoke comes out after shooting few times using a rifle and I can see that the tracer's round light is frame accumulating on that volumetric smoke which looks very ugly like seen here https://files.catbox.moe/fwmvi2.mp4

due to performance impact, this feature should be optional, perhaps limited to the highest global illumination setting.

Yeah I agree, lot's of UE5 games do that.

HW Lumen could be reserved for the highest option and the rest would use the lower quality Voxel Based Global Illumination implementation so someone with slower GPU could enjoy similar graphical level without having extremely low fps.

Also do not confuse software Lumen with the hardware accelerated one since the second one handles indirect lighting better and doesn't suffer from light leaking. Examples:

In future we could get Path Tracing option so people with beefier GPUs could do nice cinematics using the replay feature which would also require rework/overhaul since it barely works properly and has little to no control over the replay itself, the game would need to be optimized in first place before that aswell.

You can easily notice that Software Lumen suffers from light leaking and you can see that in the corridor.
