Switch Mod Trouble

I have a physical copy and been trying to dump my copy but I'm not very familiar with the steps to go about that how im supposed to swap and what location the files are and where they are supposed to go. All the file are in the right place but either the game crashes or loads up as normal.

are you trying to play the mod On Switch? or on Ryujinx?
if you have a cart, you can just put the cart in and play the mod, no need to dump anything

Dumping is for use with emulators

yeah you don't need to dump anything, just put the cart in and update it from eshop to be on 1.3.0 update

all you should need to do is move the modded files into the right spot on your sd card and move the .ips file to exefs_patches/Luminescent

Do I need to update it sysmmc or emu?

we dont recommend playing on sysnand

cuz of potential to get your switch banned

And I should be able to go on the eshop even on emunand and download the update correct?

what you do is update everything fully on your stock system the unmodded one, then recreate your emunand, it creates a snapshot of your current switch system

Another way to transfer the update data would be to use a tool like nxdumptool to dump the update data from your sysnand and install it on your emunand after

It's what I'd recommend

if the dumping part was confusing them, then simply rebuilding emunand is the easier way

dumping and reinserting with tools tends to be its own process to troubleshoot also

if folks are coming in here asking for help how to install mods/install the base game to begin with, i generally assume this is their first time using a modded switch, so thus assume they dont have anything of value on their first emunand anyway

if theyve done it before then they would already know how to do it

So I know this guy, he's like dumb but not dumb, I know for a fact he's got important stuff on his emunand, he's just struggles with modding consoles and the logic behind it. I don't mean anything offensive

After installing 1.3.0 and ensuring the mod files were in the correct place, we have confirmed it working.
