Hello folks, recently it comes to our attention that folks on switch hardware may be experiencing about 2-3 seconds of lag when opening the party menu or box menu ingame.
This appears to be due to us adding custom box icons for every mon in the game, matching the ones released for home/scvi in preparation of the backend for natdex.
But I wanted to get some feedback on how much of an issue this is for players, do you notice the lag? does it make the experience worse for you? or is it unnoticeable and not an issue, or do you notice it but it doesn't bother you that much etc
As far as I'm aware, it is not an issue for folks on emulators that I've seen so far, and the few testers we've had on switch have said there's a small bit of lag on initial boot but as you reopen menus and boxes it goes away after some playtime
but please, drop your thoughts if you've experienced this issue, I want to gauge how much of a problem it is, as we may need to find an alternate solution when natdex comes around, either way, we will be more than doubling the amount of pokemon in bdsp when that comes, so lots of assets will be added to the game at that time, so sometimes issues like this are a bit unavoidable, as the lag entirely comes from the limitations of how Quickly each individual switch can load so many assets from the mod on the sd card in a short amount of time, but we'd like to mitigate if its a Huge Issue
As it entirely comes from the game having to read a large amount of assets all at once in a small amount of time, we've heard reports from both users and testers however that overclocking your switch a small amount, or maybe even getting an sd card with faster read/write speeds can mitigate or remove the issue entirely
