Enemies like to punch a lot with shots for like half HP.
Having health restore means you can safely hold angles without need to use medkit. But if you get 1 more hit its GG unless you regened enough.
Wounds lets you do the same thing but it doesnt regen, and instead stops bleeds.

For me HP is better cause it heals much more damage sources.

if you lob one over the shed near the northern checkpoint, lined up with the light post, you can generally take down 3 of the 5-6 dutyers guarding that entrance

It seems that way, as a merc you can make an incredibly lucrative route

once you have decent gear, starting at dead city

you can take quests from the mercs in dead city, normally they'll give you hit jobs in army warehouses, then lukash will pay you extra to kill the same people

then from there, you can head through truck cemetary and into dark valley, pick up some jobs from bandits in the valley and the garbage (especially if lukash or dushman is already paying you for work in garbage)

then you can head into agroprom, and from there yantar

back to dead city

rinse and repeat until you have decent enough ammo and a couple of nades, then you can attack rostok from the north, clear that checkpoint, push the southern one, then either exit straight through to garbage, or the better route (in my opinion,(and as long as you know there's no emissions on the way)), is to head through truck cemetary again from the southern checkpoint to either report to sultan or lukash

the garbage exit can sometimes see you caught up in a fight with a squad of dutyers guarding the entrance to rostok which you might be too wounded to take on

but risking a chimera or psuedo fight in truck cemetary is equally risky
