I legit went through hell getting here but on the way I found a toolkit thing and a Weapon toolit so now I got 2 crafting item

My assumption would be you're crossing smart terrain boundaries which is basically put it in "offline" mode where the stuff is being tracked but not actually happening. I could be very very wrong about this though.

So there is technically no end to the quests. I would say to do those quests while you get a hang for the game and build up supplies. You probably want to hit goodwill 2000 too so that you have all the items available to buy

Ok so you can't just disable artifacts mods in gamma as they are tied into balance and crafting. Only the perk artifacts degrade. If you are set on this path try asking in #🔨modded-gamma-support

After the latest updates - a lot of things have gotten a lot slower and there are stutters.
Shift clicking to move has gotten laggy, and saving/loading, transitioning to new areas have all gotten significantly longer.
I posted about this earlier but didn't get a response. Hopefully there are more who can chime in to give feedback so that this gets addressed.

@terse sun the Shift thing most of the time is because you have a lot of stuff in that particular stash or maybe you have many favorites in your inventory
Updating GAMMA bring everything to default and my advice is the same, as you already know, do all those changes we made last time, settings and the no RAM thing

I always make sure to fix the texture ram thing after updates, but for some weird reason (and everytime I did updates except for this last one today) I updated gamma data + full installation and it runs slower and saggier.
It's even so weird that with the exact same graphic settings as before, I used to be able to run HBAO@high + all of the gamma shaders with 60+fps, now I could barely see 45, totally mystical

And maybe the performance issues are isolated cases, as it seems no one else is mentioning them.

To be clear, I want it to run smoothly for you guys, and I'm more than willing to spend my time trying things. That said we do also have to remember that Grok didn't make anomaly. We are running 330 mods onto an engine old enough that hilariously I can actually read the code for it and younger more modern coders and modders struggle with it. It's literally one old language with a newer script written on it and then Lua scripts on top. The fact that this doesn't crash at least once every few hours is insane. We will try to help yall tweak stuff, and I am sure grok wants it to play like a aaa game. But we do need to ground our expectations in reality and not be too surprised when it acts up.

I tried it and so far in rostok, actually the campfire stuttering indeed seems to have stopped, I have also noticed I didn't have "prefer maximum performance" under power management settings

There's a checkbox for Program DPI which overrides system settings and uses the program's, and one for Override high DPI scaling behavior which I can set for either the application or system. Do I check both? And set to the application?

Ok do this -> Run installer as admin -> update GAMMA data -> Full GAMMA Install. It will get you to latest version, and force a reinstall of that mod.

That would be why. Basically sometimes with the installer you can occasionally have an issue where the extract doesn't work properly and you end up not getting all the files. Rare but it happens.

this may be just me but the speed of an emission might be just a tad too fast now, it happens so quick it's almost impossible sometimes to get to the shelter in time

interesting observation from my side - turning "threaded optimization" off in nvidia control panel completely bricks gamma - as in, the quests stop tracking, loading saves cause CTD etc.

Stashes are empty by default; you will have to find or get coordinates to actually find something in them. These coordinates can be obtained as rewards by completing quests, by reading PDAs that you can find on the bodies of stalkers you kill, you can even threaten wounded stalkers to get them, before you kill them.
You can also buy them from traders, although the location is always random, so it could be anywhere.
Inside these stashes you can find toolkits.
In the south part of the Zone (everywhere UNDER Red Forest) is where you'll find Basic and Advanced.
In the north part of the Zone (INSIDE Red Forest and ONLY NORTH from there) is where you'll find Expert, along the other two.
You also have the gunsmithing toolkit, which is used to craft ammunition of all kinds and you also have the drug making kit, used to create drugs and medicines.
Depending on the location, north or south:
White stashes have a small chance of finding ANY toolkit inside, this means that you can find ONE basic/advanced/expert toolkit OR a gunsmithing toolkit OR a drug making toolkit.
Green stashes have a 100% chance of finding ONE toolkit from this specific pool: Basic, Gunsmithing or Drug Making kit. Advanced and Expert are random and depend on the area the stash spawned in.

Dick changes warfare traders, some important characters like traders and quest givers and alife stalkers
the Negative Consequences for failing a Quest are negligible
still sucks, but the values are low
It's minor + makes you think about which tasks you want to pick instead of taking everything and checking what's on the menu. Be happy that there's no time limit with tasks

you can buy/craft or loot slugs and ap slugs, then aim for the head
shotguns are good for their versatility
if the enemy is a full exoskeleton, then you might have better luck killing him with a grenade or letting him fight something else

reload time is like 5 seconds

I need some help, I'm afraid to say. So backstory, I was trying to optimize STALKER's FPS performance especially in Rostok following instructions on #old-framerate-optimisation and disabling AVX CPU stuff from the launcher which I heard actually hampers performance, and I did notice a jump in FPS, but now I'm facing completely random CTD's, last one occured when looting bodies. It's worthy to note that the modlist is completely vanilla (with the exception of one mod, Apocalyptic Blowout overhaul that doesn't touch much things especially regarding looting)

It doesn't follow the normal error format with CTDs which is peculiar, first time I came across something like this.
Another thing of note that the game crashed out of absolutely nowhere, just near the entrance to Garbage from Rostok, but without triggering the travel to Garbage, was still a good few meters left to walk.
So if it isn't too much to ask, two questions:
1- How can I make the game run smoother, I know X-Ray isn't exactly the most optimized of engines and runs on a single core, but I do have an RTX 2060, which is capable of running a lot of triple-A titles, and a Ryzen 5 1600 AF, which is also pretty decent as far as my experience with it goes.
2- How to fix this crash? Admittedly, it happened to me only two times now, but I sorta panicked and I figured might as well ask for support, since it shouldn't be exactly a coincidence that the only two crashes in a 20 hour playthough was after disabling AVX. Turning it on is obviously an option lol but again, I noticed a good leap in performance without AVX on

Interestingly enough, noisy scenes don't matter as much, take for example, Cordon, Army Warehouses, Yantar, Dead City, they're all filled with foliage and anomalies in case of Yantar but my FPS is a good 60 FPS, but when it comes back to Rostok, a crowded place with a lot of characters and interactivity, FPS dips right into 30's and 20's
that is not an issue unique to you, i can say that much
I average 55-60 fps with a 1080, and especially when ALife goes nuts with tons of NPCs i can even go below 10

Cordon was the worst offender when military and loners started fighting
I havent visited the places since 152 so i have still to test this again
but Rostock, weirdly enough, was always good for me with performance
Lucky lol, I cannot for the life of me get Rostok to run well, even when turning graphics down to potato levels just to empty that valuable single core CPU usage for A-Life :P lol
Should I just downgrade to DX10? I have a feeling it'll run even worse lmfao
just be aware that you are not the only one, that's just how the game runs for the majority of people - it doesnt matter what PC you throw at it and comparing it to new games isnt a thing you can do easily
also, each PC will have it's sweet spot and its not easy to say: "do this" to fix those issues

Yeah that's basically my goal, it's just that Rostok was like, my main hub in the game and it was driving me insane doing my business in the 20 FPS range lol
while I think of it, what helped me the most personally is deactivating SMAA and AA ingame and force the NVIDIA panel options to do most of the stuff
no VSync ofc, lowering grass distance & density ofc
I'll check rq, I may have done the same with SMAA and AA but without enabling them in NVIDIA panel options. Grass options are left at vanilla values, that also requires tweaking I assume?
grass shadow and distance + density are THE fps killer
but thats not the case in rostock
rostock is just also CPU hell

Yeah, but 1st option isn't option bcus it removes items added by gamma (artefact melder for example) from traders iirc, and deleting trader_presets doesn't add suits & helmets back to traiders.

I mean, it's not only artefact melder that's getting removed by trader overhaul or removal of gamma economy, so keeping ecologs from gamma economy won't fix total removal of gamma items.

From searching stashes, which locations are given as parts of quest rewards and of random dead stalkers and their PDA's (select view to open them in your Inventory and click on the messages, some also give a random new path unlock). Sorry was at work XD
Not really. It is more profitable to perform tasks repeatedly.
Especially since you receive Goodwill for tasks which in turn increases the inventory at traders.

was just curious; I'm almost 50+ hours in to this save (my first with GAMMA) so things are definitely playable, but I feel like there's always some stutter that comes with xray

the only two real issues I've had are that and ABYSMAL FPS in rostok especially at night/with headlamps/and/or emissions/storm going on. Things can drop into the teens and twenties in Rostok under the "right" circumstances 😄

Explaining WHY you're missing something from the mod list:
Moddb isn't really suited for the installer, it's not that much ordinary to download 300+ mods casually every other day, so you can lose some files in the process, when you download them.
MO2 can't obviously know if you have everything or not. This is because, if the file structure of the mod is "okay", the mod is "okay".
Anomaly, on the other hand knows right away that something is wrong, because it has to look for certain files in certain mods, and if those files are not there, the game crashes.

Main Meds do your Temp heal making the bar yellow, post meds like yadulin for example, will heal permanently over any yellow bar, some meds only heal certain parts though
For Example, say your arm is full busted, you pop a basic med kit and it heals 75% temp making that 75% yellow, pop a yadulin and however much the yadulin can heal will heal permanently over the yellow bar. Also carry plenty of caffine tabs if using Yadulin as it calms down the Dizzy effect!
When you find a skeletal exosuit but don't have an exosuit repair kit since you don't have an expert toolkit 😦

You know, this is honestly a good question. Im going to say no. However supressors and caliber changes should have an effect. If the weapon is in good kit then they wont reload/unjam as often. But I do not believe a scope changes anything.
Be warned I could be wrong with the scope part though.
They degrade your stuff very fast, and a silencer will make it even faster on the damage reduction due to the barrel

I would honestly have to go look at the ai accuracy calculation. But Im 90% sure its primarily based off their rank more than anything else. With story companions having set values that depend less on rank. Currently no way to change their armor. If you grab a story NPC though they are built like a tank.

Reaching out to my fellow Mercs: Just started my first GAMMA run yesterday, rolled my usual Merc with my Dead City start. I’m aware that the more north you are, the more radiation and psy you run into; so I can’t push too far up in Limansk. I’ve found that I can beat up on Duty at the Army Warehouses, but progressing towards the Red Forest is a no go. I figured I’d try heading south, but I can’t head into Yantar due to psy-fields.
Any advice from fellow Mercs starting out? Perhaps spending some time killing/looting lower Limansk and Army Warehouses until I can find better armor?
Most of the time if you walk into them a few times they get out of the way, alternatively you can enable the companion teleport mod, just understand that it will also teleport rescue targets.

I've found that if you sprint into them they'll slowly get out of the way
Army is usually where alot of the merc players go first as its decent gear, and survivable with the starter equipment.

I believe its just flavor text, but ive never used that helmet as it has basically no radiation protection.

Honestly no idea, I assume that it means click reinstall when you right click it, and dont add the optional packages. But I could be totally wrong. If you want to tell me what framerate issues you are having, there might be an easier fix I can help with.
Honestly I know almost nothing about shaders. I just run the defaults that grok picked in the pack. I would try the #╟🎑reshades channel as those folks know alot about them.

yeah this is a component of the exo itself and used to repair the exo - it will repair once inside the exo and you using the appropriate repair kit.

I would check Heavy Sewing, field armour repair, and see if its one of those.

Probably a dumb question on my part: I'm getting to the point where I'm encountering a lot more armored enemies. Is there a way to distinguish when I should be using AP ammo against enemies who are not using exo armor?
It's a little tricky to tell when I should be.
I generally just switch to AP when i encounter Mercenaries, Monolith, Sin, or Military. Otherwise you'd have to get really close to see
Any stalkers in AW or further north = AP
Good rule of thumb is if they are wearing armor north of AW AP

Ran into a Merc in Agroprom. I dumped a whole clip of FMJ into him from a distance and realized, "Oh shit, he's still standing and I don't have any AP mags loaded." Couldn't tell from afar how armored he was.

You will lose good will regardless, but you will not be instantly hostile to the whole faction. However the lowest your good will can go from actions taken during the quest is 0. Killing other freedom dudes are not protected by this.

I've read faq but it seems i'm still missing something about radiation. I just can't get rid of it entirely. Goes away for a moment after smoking cigarettes or using anti-rad drugs but keeps coming back. It's always just a grey icon but eventually it starts taking away big chunks of my health. Yeah the ones that see you do it will start firing, but if you leave the area for a bit, or load into a different map the will no longer be hostile when you return.

Is there is list or document somewhere stating which ones should be used in addition to the mods checked by default? My curiosity peaked as I noticed with yesterday's updates, that the 'UMP reposition' was mentioned, however, it is "not" checked within my MO2 and I had no idea if I'm supposed to or not.

After reading this you'll probably ask: "But why are those mods there if you can't activate them?". Because G.A.M.M.A. as a whole is STILL IN BETA, and no, Grok can't simply remove them. Version 1.0 will have a clean mod list.
And you'll also ask: "What about the other disabled mods that aren't under the "Disabled" category, then?". Don't enable them if you don't know what you're doing. Ask in #🔨base-gamma-support before doing anything.

Send your crash log where it was asked, it's inside your Anomaly folder, this is the complete path: Anomaly/appdata/logs. Send the file called xray_yournamehere.txt, you just need to drag and drop the file here, Discord will handle it for you.
Make sure you're not using any extra mods.

I think I brought this issue up yesterday: the one where looted stalker PDAs vanish when trying to look at them. I had a quest to use the RF receiver and find a missing squad in Wild Territory. I found the body, looted the PDA, and went back to turn in the quest. However, I realized I wasn't able to turn the quest in, despite having the PDA. When right clicking on the PDA and selecting view, it still just vanished from my inventory and, instead, just displayed my normal PDA.

Try this. Unequip your PDA, make a save, load save, re-equip PDA, then see what happens. Also are you 100% sure youre not holding nimbles PDA and forgot to pick up the quest one.

I don't think I have Nimble's PDA. The RF receiver started going nuts when I found the Duty member's body, and it was the only one around at the time.

Do not mix add-ons.
Shouldn't be too difficult let me try and locate the correct PDA and ensure that there are no other issues before sending you the logs.

By default you cant, however if you go into the mcm menu choose the limited fast travel mod and set tax to 0

@shadow sapphire Okay. The body I was actually looking for was just a few feet away behind one of those thick pillars in Wild Territory. I'm glad I actually went back because I found amazing loot on some Bandits and Mercs I had to kill along the way. I redid the vanishing PDA thing and these are the logs.

No ZCP should not be on, and also custom mods were added at some point. But Ill still look at the log and see if there is insight at least. But in the future @frank robin you 100% are in #🔨modded-gamma-support territory, and no longer considered vanilla.
for me it was turning off 1.5 and tuning back on 1.4 - then i was able to use/view pdas again

No worries! To be honest you have a very interesting log lol. But yeah unfortunately the issue is going to be changes you have made, and I now understand why I can not reproduce this issue. If you do decide to go back to a vanilla gamma I would recommend a delete and re-extract of anomaly itself.

I dont know about corruption itself as in your save is scuffed. But you already have scripts trying to call things that dont exist, and some scripts not running.
Hmm. Well, in that case, I think I'll poke around with the mod list a bit more and start a fresh new run to prevent any future issues from occurring. That way I don't bug the staff with any potential issues in the future that may be a result of this.

Just be careful with what you change, DO NOT turn on anything in disabled, and ask if you arent sure what the effect will be. GAMMA is 330mods by default now and that has to be very carefully balanced. Somethings cant just be turned off or on.

They are nothing like vanilla in alot of cases, same outfits but rebalanced. You can type !spread in #🤖bot-commands but it may be outdated. You can always ask about outfits in here, or even #╟🔫loadouts If you are curious. Im not sure there really is a tierlist, and if there is there would be at least 2 as none of them really provide anomaly protection and ballistic protection in amazing numbers. GAMMA really encourages the use of different kits. I usually have 1 for general tasks/exploration/southzone that has good anomaly protection and decentish ballistic. And a seperate kit for the north or hardcore missions with exceptional ballistic.

Cloth mask is literally the best item for any of the oils.

The mask isnt rare, just kill bandits, literally one 10 minute clear of cordon will net you like 3-6 masks. Also yes you do get cloth and synth from them but you will literally be swimming in cloth masks.
maybe im just getting too lucky with the masks, i do get like 3-6 everytime i go to cordon but i always just disassemble them for the parts (that always ends up getting ruined anyways

Yeah but trust me, you will have too much cloth and synth, military is the rare cloth the others you can get from almost any armor, bags, or helmets south of red.
I think you can right click -> details repair items and see what supportive materials work with it

No need to do GAMMA as the mods you added wouldnt have modified the mods, and gamma will re-extract from archives so even if they did should be safe.

Stashes are empty by default; you will have to find or get coordinates to actually find something in them. These coordinates can be obtained as rewards by completing quests, by reading PDAs that you can find on the bodies of stalkers you kill, you can even threaten wounded stalkers to get them, before you kill them.
You can also buy them from traders, although the location is always random, so it could be anywhere.
Inside these stashes you can find toolkits.
In the south part of the Zone (everywhere UNDER Red Forest) is where you'll find Basic and Advanced.
In the north part of the Zone (INSIDE Red Forest and ONLY NORTH from there) is where you'll find Expert, along the other two.
You also have the gunsmithing toolkit, which is used to craft ammunition of all kinds and you also have the drug making kit, used to create drugs and medicines.
Depending on the location, north or south:
White stashes have a small chance of finding ANY toolkit inside, this means that you can find ONE basic/advanced/expert toolkit OR a gunsmithing toolkit OR a drug making toolkit.
Green stashes have a 100% chance of finding ONE toolkit from this specific pool: Basic, Gunsmithing or Drug Making kit. Advanced and Expert are random and depend on the area the stash spawned in.
