I'm a new player and have my iron and copper fully automated and don't know what to do next

I would suggest a whole Miner and Smelter setup for the assembly of Iron and Copper Frames.

Working on exploring to get the monorail set up. It’ll save you so much time running back and forth to get things

Once you can craft assemblers, use the first you create to make more assemblers (assemblers craft twice the qty you get from handcrafting)
And then use assembler to craft anything, never handcraft.

Start with all the basic crafting components made from copper and iron that u have and also set an assembler to make drills/belts/power able floors. Though the biggest and i stress the biggest thing to automate early on as it will save u a ton of time is fuel/power generation. Create a power plant as soon as u unlock the waterwheel and a fuel generation plant when u get bio bricks as they will keep the whole mess going. Always feed the bio brick into the smelters and drills until you get the mk2 drill. Store the excess by products of making the bio brick so u can cycle that into other assemblers and such for mid to late game components and machines. Store extra biobrick for later use as well so that u keep the lines moving. If storage backs up and stops the production line it'll effect other machines without even realizing it
