#If science cube hits the ceiling, it spreads to the sides?

Yes, the behavior of the towers was changed so that they build in a straight vertical column as long as there is room to build.
The old version built to a certain height, and branched out at a certain height forming a mushroom like structure. The new version builds a straight tower of 5 core x 5 core layers in any empty space above the composer. The new version is better, IMO
Thank you. And while we're at it, is there an efficient way to dig upwards? For science, i have to dig a big, narrow, hollow skyscraper. I'd like to have one for red and one for blue rather than multiple small ones. I have two skyscrapers already, it went down quite well, but going up was a mess and time consuming. Due to the construction of the supports and not so precise digging up, when I want the skyscraper to be exactly smooth. But maybe I'm just too picky 🙂
I dug an ascending spiral to roof of the world, then dug to a corner of the world, and then Dug straight down to the floor. I placed my composer on the floor there. There are other options, but that’s what I found works best for me
I just always start at a high point in the northwest of the map and work my way down
Yes, thank you. And it will probably be a good idea to choose a place on the map that is already high and only dig down to the bedrock. When I started playing, I didn't think about it 🙂
Mining charges can quickly make a deep hole with straight sides fairly quickly and easily
I don't have very good experience with mining charges in terms of precision digging.
When you go to place a mining charge you should see a faint box around the place you are aiming. Just aim for the center of that box and your precision should go up some.
But also having a flat space to start using the charges helps as well
