Scanner isn't working at all.

Hello! I am having a severe issue with using the scanner. It simply will not work.

If I craft a scanner, I cannot equip/use it. If I try to, it just acts as if I've equipped nothing and my hand remains empty. I can assign the scanner to a toolbar, but from the toolbar it still equips nothing. Every other item is working fine, m.o.l.e., belts, bombs, etc. But the scanner acts as if it isn't even there to use.

I've tried putting all inventory scanners into a box and reloading the game. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game with no scanners in my inventory and then crafted a fresh one. I've tried regular Load Game instead of Continue. But nothing changes, and I'm still entirely unable to equip a scanner, regardless of how many I create.

Please help! I can't progress in the game at all currently due to this issue. 😵

This sounds like something the devs will have to look into but they won't be back in the office till Monday.

Can you tell me if you are on Xbox or PC?

Hi there, and thanks for detailing your experiences. Although you've tried Load Game in addition to Continue, have you tried a New Game and played through the early content until you unlocked a Scanner again? Given everything else you have done, I am worried that your save file and/or Scanner is broken, somehow.

Of course, discovering that would not fix the Scanner in your existing save, but it would eliminate something else being at fault.
