Is there any way of finding out how much of a buff I'm getting from core clustering and is the boost given for each core I have placed or is it only for a cluster?

I believe each cluster gives a .25% boost, you need 10 purple or 5 blue 'excess' cores per cluster.
So a full tower of blue will give you 50%
Addendum, this is for drills, the boost is dependant on the machine and having it's boost unlocked

By excess do you mean cores that aren't being used for research?
