#Buggy Monorail?

Are you using the high voltage cable to power it by chance
I've tried both that and power floor but never took the cables down
delete the Steppers
I am having this issue also. i took off the high voltage connector and just using power floor. i have more than enough to run it. i even put accumulators next to each station, its just not getting any power. one station shows a high voltage sign next to the power section.
are you sure that power network connected to monorail have No hvc cables anywhere?
it should work fine as long as within grid there is no HV anywhere in the grid
If hvc were connect previously I suggest restarting your game that's what fixed it for me
ok, now when i removed the cable going to it, it removes several gen/water wheels near it. is this normal?
need to connect those with floors to the rest of your grid
??
when you disconnect the cable, you need to connect both grids with power floors
they were already connected.
yes, by the cable. Removing that cable severed that connection. Now you need to connect them using power floors.
i dont think you understand, it physically deletes generators and water wheels when i remove the cable.
Im assuming you have mass delete learned. That happens sometimes (deleting things). Those generators and waterwheels should be put in your inventory and you can just place them where they were.
To avoid this in the future, I only learn the Mass delete skill when I need to delete a lot of stuff at once. Otherwise it can cause issues when you just need to delete a belt section or an inserter in tight spaces.
ok. that makes sense, now the issue left is i cant delete the hvc anything near it.
The Stepper or the HVC? The HVC is the cable that connects to the stepper. If it is the stepper you can't delete, this is probably because it was one of the ones that existed already. Those cant be deleted. As long as you delete the cable though you should be fine.
ok. i placed this one to connect another grid instead of running floor, but i ran floor to the new location as a test for the monorails. i guess i can just cut the floor as close as i can to segregate the stepper.
thanks for the help 🙂
Hey guys, I'm so sorry to jump in on your thread but to be clear, does this mean that I cannot connect 2 grids with HV cables and place a monorail between them and expect them to work?
I must connect them together as one huge power floor?
Correct, or build local 'mini power stations (cranks/wheels/accumulators)' at the depots
AH! yes, that makes way more sense then dragging cables around. Thank you. I'm just getting into monorails.
So, the issues I've noticed with the Monorail are that it only sees your accumulated power (and therefore only can send) when it exists on the same power floor as your energy generation. The cable connection atm doesn't seem to transfer that stored power to monorails on other power floors, but seems to work fine for any other equipment on that floor. I've also noticed that if you have power generators on two separate floors, but they are connected by cables, you sometimes still can't send from the secondary monorail (I'm not sure how it chooses which is your primary). You can tell if your monorail has power to send by looking at the accumulated power reading of the monorail GUI. If it's zero (or less than the required send amount), it won't work. I think a recent update had further broken monorail power, as I was seeing both ends of my monorail showed zero accumulator power when connected by cable. The easiest way to resolve this, albeit kind of annoying, is to connect everything with a power floor if you plan on using the monorail on that floor. A single line of floor works, and if you are worried about aesthetics, you can dig your way through a wall and route the line of floor there to hide it somewhat.
In regards to your comment about not being able to delete the stepper, I assume it's the one near that control room with the pre-existing stuff built. Right now, you can't delete any pre-existing structures, and have to either use them, or build around them. I also tried using my own stepper to transfer power for the monorail, but it doesn't work, so the issue isn't due to using the pre-existing stepper.
ref this, were both ends sending and recieving? I noticed when I had a 1 way track, the receiving end was the one showing the power issue.
Initially I only saw the receiving end showing zero, but I didn't need to send anything back from that one, so I left it alone. At some point, I had logged in, and noticed my sending monorail was also showing zero, and as soon as I disconnected the cable between floors, the sender monorail regained the power, but unfortunately that means my receiving floor was entirely without power.
Thanks for confirming I was running a line to the Freight Elevator for a while, I moved the cable around and it stopped working, it's a very odd bug
