Conceived at the turn of the century, the FS-3 Ternion is a large, twin-engine multirole fighter. Initially developed for long-endurance patrols over the Pacific, it was later adapted to meet expanding operational demands. Despite lacking stealth characteristics, frequent upgrade packages have allowed the Ternion to continue serving as a reliable defender of the Heartland.

a radar missile is guided by your plane in the direction of the target until it can acquire a lock by itself, but it’s not accurate enough to intersect with a target

fair enough actually. i’ve just always noticed them being shit if you’re shooting from within 2km. so is the missile immediately on its own radar as soon as it’s launched?

So they need a second to really get onto an intercept

2km is usually ok vs aircraft but vs a missile coming directly toward you the closure rate is sometimes too high for it to get to it in time

But further out is quite reliable

Flew this aircraft last night… definitely a delight.

One of the first things that caught my eye was the airbrake system. Instead of a dedicated airbrake panel extending, the different control surfaces orient to act as an airbrake. While this might not be a groundbreaking feature, it was definitely unique and something I thought was cool.

The power of the laser weapon was definitely unexpected… that's all I'll say…

The afterburner sound is crazy… I like it…

This aircraft gives me F-14 Tomcat and F-111 Ardvark vibes…

@wanton haven is there any engineering reason behind the FS-3 having those tiny little elevators as oppose to just extending the chord line rearward until it becomes a true delta wing? Obv the doylist reasoning is because you wanted a 3-surface plane
