i agree with this heavily and support every bit of it, but may i extend/add one thing?

prioritization of lasers, while not a huge deal and i could understand if its purposely as is for simplicity/balance but if you have say 5 targets selected, an anvil, linebreaker, spearhead, and pair of lcv45’s, CURRENTLY as implemented the lased target will be the last one selected assuming all are visible, what if instead it would automatically select first the AA with the longest range, work its way down the range teirs, then the laser will be aimed by price, selecting the most valuable target first

yeah I think its for simplicity right now as last selection always takes priority with all types of weapons if I remember right
more predictable, value based could be interesting for an optional targeting mode tho

I thought that already happens? When an A2A wepaon is selected youre more likely to target aircraft (when selecting targets) and when A2G weapons are selected youre more likely to target ground units. I think it even differentiates between heavy armoured and light armoured units.

Yeah it can (must) be better but it's already in the game

It is especially noticeable in Medusa. When you equip the jammers or ARADs you can easily select radars, but if you have the laser equiped you select other things.

not only hud elements will be hidden or small depending on weapon selection, you already can select targets that is suitable for your weapon in the group of various enemies
