Good day, readers of this proposal for introducing new mechanics and features to such a fantastic game as Nuclear Option. Today, I would like to present a potential system that the developers could implement in the future for more realistic building destruction in our game. So, let's begin with the concept.

The idea is to divide the existing buildings in NO into several components, namely:

  1. Building Frame – The reinforced concrete structure that serves as the building's "skeleton."
  2. Exterior Layer – The glass, concrete, or possibly panel-based outer covering of the buildings.
  3. (Optional, ideally with a toggle for weaker systems)Interior Objects, such as office islands, rooms in residential buildings, etc.

My suggestion is to first create the main frame, then overlay the exterior shell, and finally use a Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V method to populate it with interiors. Additionally, since the game already has assets without this system, players with lower-end systems could retain the option to use the old building type.

How Will It Work and Why Is It Needed?

Example 1:
Imagine you're flying an Ifrit between the skyscrapers of Feldspar, dodging missiles. Suddenly, an enemy missile slams into a building in front of you, and you perform an evasive maneuver. At the same time, your opponent flies past you and collides with the debris from the explosion. This mechanic would make urban combat more dynamic.

Example 2:
You drop a nuclear bomb on the outskirts of Maris. From a distance, you can see the windows in the skyscrapers shatter and some of the exterior panels break off, adding more immersion and cinematic impact to the game.

Example 3:
You're messing around in free flight with a Chicane and firing at skyscrapers with a 30mm cannon. As you shoot, you see windows and concrete panels shatter, debris flying everywhere, and furniture inside being tossed around—all of which would provide immense aesthetic satisfaction.

How to Optimize It?

I believe we could implement four levels of destruction detail:

  1. Low – The current destruction system as of version 0.30.
  2. Medium – The ability to destroy the exterior shell, causing debris to fly (similar to the existing system with the medium hangar destruction).
  3. High – The ability to destroy not only the exterior but also improved glass breakage physics.
  4. Ultra – The ability to destroy both the exterior and interior, modular building destruction, and additional effects like fires caused by explosions, etc.

This mechanic would not only enhance immersion in Nuclear Option but also add more action to urban combat.

Thank you for your attention!
