Hi there!

I’m really excited about Nuclear Option, it looks incredibly fun, and I’m eagerly following its development.

I wanted to ask if you're considering a macOS version of the game. I completely understand that porting to macOS could take a lot of time and effort, and that the percentage of macOS users is much smaller compared to Windows, so it might not be justifiable from a development or business standpoint.

Still, I (and I’m sure many other macOS users) would love to know if a port is at least being considered, even if it’s a possibility for the distant future.

Thanks so much for your great work, and best of luck with the rest of development!

Best,
ABer

IDK if mac has anything on linux's proton, the win compatability layer, but it works beautifully on proton.

Also, could you let me know what game engine the project is built on?

I’m on an M2 Mac and currently use Wine (via Whisky) to run some Windows games. Do you happen to know if Nuclear Option is playable through Wine, or if anyone’s tested it?

I have to head off to work now, so I’ll keep it short, thanks in advance for taking the time to read my message and possibly respond. I really appreciate it!

The game looks fantastic and I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how it evolves. Wishing you a smooth development process and a successful launch!

Hi guys!
Thank you for the information provided, I tested everything, the game works perfectly, the performance is great!

If it would be helpful, I can prepare a short guide for macOS users on how to run the game via Whisky + the old version of Steam. Since the new version of Steam doesn't currently work with Whisky, this may be useful for others.

Please let me know if it would be appropriate to share such a guide here.

# patent sleet Hi there! I’m really excited about Nuclear Option, it looks incredibly fun, and...

Honestly MacOS porting is just click 'build for macOS' button in Unity and wait while project is compiled... So I don't know why don't do that... Hope developer will do that asap... Even if not many people have macs, that doesn't require any resources and will help draw more players to the game, especially given that Mac has airsims audience (x-plane is on Mac for many decades, Aerofly FS4 is on Mac too)

Hi @keen harbor!

Regarding the bottle settings in Whisky, I'm using the latest version of whisky. WINE(Windows Version=Windows 11, Build Version=22000, Retina Mode=False, Enhanced Sync=MSync, DPI Scaling=96, Advertise AVX Support=False) DXVK=False, Metal=False, I have a regular M2, not Pro/Max, RAM 16 GB.
FPS is generally very stable, the game runs smoothly. But, for example, when my plane explodes, there is a drop in frames - however, as far as I know, this happens to everyone, not just me.

As for the port to macOS, I agree that Unity does make it quite easy to build a macOS version, but there may be nuances with plugins or Apple Silicon support. Perhaps the developers just don't want to support another platform while the game is still in active development - unfortunately, I don't have any exact information (but the game is only in beta).
In any case, I would also be happy to see a native build.
