The addition of the new weapons has exposed some issues with the default missions, there's not enough air defense. It's very easy to neutralize air defense sites that pose major risks to strategic ordnance or aircraft. My suggestion comes down to three major points.

1. More variety

It'd probably be helpful to introduce new air defense vehicles and structures, all with different operational goals and intents.

2. Better constructed defense

Most air defense batteries right now are unprotected outside of neighboring SPAAG and short range IR at an airbase, a defensive cluster that operates around them to assist in defense would likely be a good idea, say SPAAG, potentially C-RAM, and maybe short-mid range IR defenses, or short range radar SAMs.

3. Defense in depth/cross coverage

A core part of modern military doctrine is defense in depth, where no singular part of the battlefield is left undefended. Defenses exist everywhere, whittling down the attackers no matter how they try to attack, slowing them down and biding time. This, plus multiple air defense batteries being able to cover for each other to improve survivability, would likely make it MUCH harder to instantly take out air defense systems.

Easy ways to buff the Stratolance include:

-allowing it to datalink with ground radars outside of 200m, so stratolances can be separated into HLT radars and missile launchers instead of being clustered together constantly

-Allowing Stratolance to reaquire targets

-Allowing the Tarantula to deploy radar SAMs including the Boltstrike and Stratolance

Some or all of the above could also be worth considering

I agree for the most part. Id say the 3rd option will be fixed when the map editor is improved. Bases will have about 3 pillboxes for example, but they'd be lined up and down roads and such. Not that they can really shoot at planes, just an example.

  1. Yes, some light defensive buildings like SPAAGs(anvil type or lighter) have much sense. And really need mid range IR SAM.

  2. This very good idea if you defend one pointz but not for big area like airfield.
    Usually i use for it next scheme. Clusters with short AA weapon(anvil, spaag, linebraker SAM) outside and one or two inside, medium range Boltstrike 2-3 inside which covered by spaags.

  3. Yes. Little cross coverage very useful for short range AA weapon, and medium cross coverage for medium AA.

But this still means significant increase of AA on bases, roughly x3.

And this mean we need new medium range IR SAM

I wonder if we should get something like the Patriot system, a mixed purpose SAM site, which can easily do anti-ballistic missile work and anti-fighter work.

may i suggest a roughly shipping container sized laser able to be moved by HLTs or stationary for short ranged defense, especially from munitions
