Ir missiles should have a mounted helmet locking system like most jets do have today,

It could just look like the chicanes gun cross.

It would work with tones :
If slaved by radar
-tone for target too far
-tone for target in range but not optimal
-tone for target in optimal ranges

If not and helmet locked just play tone 2-3

How the helmet lock works :
Irl aircraft such as the f-16c f-35 and more can lock targets by simply looking in their directions, this is something I would like to be able to do for a "stealthier" gameplay launching ir missile without the radar ping bar being shown

As such only the missile alarm would play and not show my info on radar

It would also allow us to know if a hob shot would be possible at certain angles during dogfights

you also have an optical sensor that scans around the aircraft, detecting anything within a certian range

I know I'm asking for an actual visual of helmet lock for ir's missiles
Maybe just putting a circle that turns green when I'm range if I'm looking at an enemy it's ir missile locking not helmet radar locks

You have some misconceptions. If you turn off your radar even id you have the target selected they do not get an orange ping.
Also DL track is not broken until the enemy leaves all DL sources detection areas. So for most planes 10km line of sight is DAS range, which is about IR range anyway. Your system has no advantages. You can just instead press lock when you look at them which allows you to fire multiple IR missiles no matter how the enemy moves as long as they stay on DL/LOS

yea I don't think this idea is right for the game;
altho I do like the idea of some sort of sound cue when in range for a shot

Would be a fun feature but overly advantage players using head tracking
