It would be a nice effect to have an oil slick temporarily appear on the water when a plane or boat sinks, expanding shortly after the sinking to a max size and then fading away slowly. The persistent wreckage seems to only be a thing on land right now so this would add something to the ocean as well. Visually it could just look like a black spot of water.

As far as I know, this is already the case for boats, maybe you have not noticed yet.
For aircraft, I don't think an oil slick appears, but that would hardly be the case anyway.

aircraft dont have oil in them, atleast not enough to notice most you would see is either broken parts or barely visible jet fuel
