Recreated them close to their in-game appearance
Thanks king
back in the groove of editing, Glass Fandango, Santa Javelin, and their evo are finally up to the usual standard.
Should there be more of the sample videos of trouser using weapons?
if you want to, go for it
Do they have a specific frame size I should crop to?
ideally just whatever the weapon's visual size is - you'd want to try to include as little of other stuff as possible and just the weapon's visuals
Can you add this to the page? I'm not good with wikis.
you've got to cut it down - filesize is way too big, needs to be under 20mb
downloading it from discord gives a 27mb gif
I downloaded it as you said, 6.3 again.
Can you try inspecting the file? That seems too strange.
try zipping it maybe?
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Special:Upload You can upload the file yourself here
I'm really not good at adding things to wikis; I tend to mess it up.
California, did the zip work?
yea you can just upload it to the wiki yourself, but if you want me to, that one does work
done, both added
Here we are!
in future maybe we should use mp4 for these rather than gif, filesize can be much smaller at higher quality... main downside is the video controls appear on hover and might obscure stuff
that seems to be mov?
It does apparently
it downloaded as mov ¯_(ツ)_/¯
yea that's probably better, 400kb mp4 rather than a 15mb gif
👍
hm, your conversion isn't changing the file's mine type https://i.imgur.com/m3VpKB2.png
yea those work
Here's the fixed Ebony Wings.
Trouser using the Gatti Amari. Here they show their capability to damage the player character.
Here's another!
That's all for tonight. I'll make more tomorrow!
that one gave me a mov
in future if you want to upload them yourself, all you have to do is go to [[Special:Upload]], choose file at the top, set the destination filename to Full Weapon Name Attack.mp4, and pick the VS license in the dropdown https://i.imgur.com/DP83QmC.png
don't have to add it to any pages if you don't want - i'll see the new uploads in recent changes and can add them to their pages (or anyone else can)
at some point we should probably write some editing guides to help with stuff
Yeah
What you and I know with basically every aspect of editing a wiki isn't really known by most users
@hexed oasis I'm assuming that the RuneScape Wiki should have editing guides. Do you have a link to any of them?
yea tons of them https://runescape.wiki/w/Help:Editing most are rsw-specific tho, like their screenshots and image editing ones are mostly to do with what in-game settings to use
we could mostly just copy over the "your first edit", "visualeditor basics", and "source mode basics" ones - tho they'd need screenshots taken from vsw
i'd like to have one specific for making redirects too
Yeah, that would make sense
Considering that we have so many redirects 😛
also i should probably start getting that hatnote rework going sooner rather than later... waiting just means more usages of those templates to have to replace
ultimately i'd like to get rid of that whole slew of fandom lua modules (hatnote, arguments, i18n, tabletools, entrypoint, and fallbacklist), buuut unfortunately the quote template also relies on a bunch of those right now, so i'd also have to redesign that too
Yup
Ngl, hatnote templates and the quote template honestly don't need lua, they're not complex like infoboxes (especially in our case)
well the hatnotes can benefit from lua primarily for looping through params, so you can have any amount of pages listed
tbh i usually prefer building templates in lua anyway just because it's more easily extensible... trying to expand or modify a wikitext template is always harder than lua
it's just that the fandom modules have a ton of extra stuff going on in them that we really don't need
Yeah
The Fandom versions have stuff like i18n, which can probably be useful and efficient to have for non-EN wikis on Fandom by default
But it isn't really needed in our case
And it's a bit more complex to build upon the Fandom-given template from within, since the lua imports from the Fandom Dev wiki by default, rather than provide the whole lua module or wikitext for the template itself
(Not to mention, our licenses aren't compatible anymore)
it's usually easiest to just treat other langs as their own entirely separate wikis (since they are), rather than trying to do fandom's inter-wiki module stuff... i don't think wg does any of that kind of thing except for some of the js gadgets they have on the rsw meta wiki, which get loaded on all rs wikis (rsw, oldschool rsw, rs classic wiki, etc.)
like https://runescape.wiki/w/Module:Hatnote and https://pt.runescape.wiki/w/Módulo:Hatnote are the same module, even with all the english comments, just the 'no text' error html msg edited for the lang
Agreed
I tried using the uploading page - hopefully it worked.
Yup, it did :)
[[File:Shadow Pinion Attack.mp4]]
One thing I'd suggest you to do is crop out the first few seconds, but other than that, it's good :)
I thought it was important to show how they originate by walking.
@devout echo for future reference, if you want to add a file you uploaded to a page, this is how you do it (in source editor):
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Shadow_Pinion?diff=prev&oldid=57365
if you need any more editing tips, let us know and don't be afraid to ask anything! us wiki admins have years of experience with editing wikis :p
You missed adding |autoplay|loop on there, so it behaves like the gif would
added, thx for pointing that out
Also personally I wouldn't use sprite links in the gallery image descriptions, since the character's sprite is already in the image you’re describing, there's no need to have it there a second time right underneath
makes sense, fixed
btw @brisk drum slink supports defining dlc param directly, rather than needing the separate badge (eg https://vampire.survivors.wiki/?title=Shield&diff=57401&oldid=57391)
(tbh tho i'm not a huge fan of the added dlc badges after all the links... might try to think of a different way to denote what dlc stuff comes from - different color links or something, idk yet, but defining it directly within slink will let them all be affected if the display does change, rather than needing to go manaully replace the badges on individual pages)
Neither am I
Tbh, when I edit/add links, I personally ignore adding DLC badges altogether
ran through all the weapon pages replacing most usage of sprite with slink
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Special:Contributions/AllianceBot?limit=160
it's incredibly minor and doesn't actually matter but i'm running through all the mainspace pages removing extra spaces between header text and their == now... mainly because a bunch of them seem to have a space on one side and not the other, so just for consistency sake
I made some more weapon demonstrations.
nice, toss them in [[Special:Upload]]
That's good
I have put them there.
now that i'm looking at all these header texts pass by as they get saved, we should probably also standardize capitalization - there's a mix of Title Case Headers and Sentence case headers - personally i prefer sentence case for headers (except proper names, like dlc names)
hm, nothing new's showing up in [[Special:NewFiles]] since laural yesterday
Oh, i thought those weren't yet implemented.
oh maybe they haven't been - cheeta edited those pages so i assumed they got added but i haven't actually looked
[[Special:UnusedFiles]]
they're added now
FLEAMAN????
lmao
whoever put that
someone did this too
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/God_2?action=history yeah it's also @wintry jewel
okay so this is kinda frivolous but would it be possible to create a redirect from "Alcarde Spear" and "Witches Spear" to "Alucard Spear" purely because I am kinda dumb
for context: the Alucard Spear was originally localized as the Alcarde Spear in Castlevania: Bloodlines (the American version of the game) and the Witches Spear in Castlevania: The New Generation (the European version of the game) and was only officially recognized as the Alucard Spear overseas with either the release of Castlevania: Judgement or Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, I'm unsure which
the only requesting this purely because I'm kinda stupid and still refer to it as the Alcarde Spear at times, I completely understand if this is too frivolous to bother adding lol
you're able to make any redirects you want on the wiki if you have an account - when you're logged in, hit the "add new page" button on the sidebar, make the page name as the redirect you want, and then:
if you are in source editor (which looks like #1) put in #REDIRECT [[Page Name]] (replace "Page Name" with what you want to redirect to)
or if you're in visual editor (#2), hit the 3 line button at the top right, go to page settings, and enable "Redirect this page to"
okie dokie i'll try my best
no worries if you do it wrong we can help
would just rather teach how to do it so if you ever want others made you can just do it and don't have to wait for one of us to 😛
Yeah, but it's also fun for me to do small things like this too 😛
i dunno anything about coding so i'd appreciate that a lot lol
uhh are my dms open
most of wiki editing you don't need any kind of coding, it's more like editing a word doc (in visual editor)
yup, you got it
same thing if you ever want to add any others, or variations like lowercase or with an apostrophe
okie dokie
Phas3r and how the amount is calculated was driving me insane. I made an error thinking beginning only gives +1 amount which lead me to think player amount gives twice as much as weapon amount, in reality it is as simple as 4 beam per amount. I don't even know how to deal with Photonstorm's luck based amount, or if the beam per amount changed. Probably a question for the devs
Yeah, you can definitely ask the devs about the amount calculation of the phas3r, it's part of what this wiki forum is for!
yeah, just keep in mind you'll have to be patient. getting info for the wiki isn't the devs' priority
cheetah's an admin on this wiki, afterall :p
and so is lvlen-25
and that is excluding the people who host our wiki
#👑general-announcements message
I wonder how this will work lol
Gonna make an article for it later, or maybe tomorrow morning
300 bat tokens on a single board.
five hundred BATS
Hi, can Reinhardt start with the Morning Star? Just saw that on the wiki but in the game he can only start with his weapon, spectral sword or the coat of arms
Or maybe my game is bugged
He’s supposed to but it’s bugged
Ohhh, ok then. Is it a beta bug or has it been like that before the beta?
Before the beta
@hexed oasis gonna go with these as parameters for a board game infobox
made a wiki infobox (specifically for [[Project:About]])
and a board game infobox [[template:infobox Board Game]]
tbh I would have just used the generic infobox for both those since I doubt they'll ever be needed more than once, but alright
Vampire Survivors: The Board Game is an upcoming board game adaptation of Vampire Survivors. It was developed by poncle, designed by Emerson Matsuuchi and published by Grey Fox Games.
A kickstarter for the game is expected to occur in Fall 2025.

I saw it, it is like coop in real-life. 2~4 players
man I love seo sometimes
This made me check the page and realize the Emerald Disk has to be bought for 50,000 gold. I kinda just bought it without checking the cost on my main savefile.
i believe that price is to make new player to first start with the base game, so that later when they get to learn how to farm gold to start with dlcs since all of them requires to buy some chars to unlock, so a gold price to start make it be a better experience in gameplaying since no new player will struggle on understanding it is also needed to at least farm some gold in other to keep buying some unlocks, and also it is a way to make them enjoy the base game first as well.
Yeah, 50K is a fair price. Emerald Diorama being a free DLC might make players want to try it earlier than they should. Its stage can be on the brutal side in terms of enemy stats, so the cost nudges them towards coming back later in progression.
I remember the first time I tried it and triggered a showstopper in less than 10 seconds.
"They hit for HUH?"
even with mostly any character/build, I may get like at least 100k-200k gold per round, so it's pretty cheap to us experienced players lol
[[Achievements#Emerald_Diorama]] done
nice
doing otc tomorrow maybe, that one is huge
if it isnt done already, looks pretty complete actually
oh true the weapons
yeap
i wonder if we should somehow split that or denote the difference between achievements (platform-specific like steam achievements, psn trophies, etc.) and unlocks (in-game)
yeah i was thinking just about that, but more into adding their metadata (such as id)
not sure how much raw data is too much tho
we might want to do what rsw does, and have individual pages for each achievement (or rather, each in-game unlock), so they can each have an infobox to store all their data, which would probably also include the associated achievement name for each platform possibly
So basically, just description + unlocked item?
mostly yea, but also name, release date, dlc, possibly different icons/descriptions/names per-platform
Yeah those too ofc
the one with the biggest difference that stands out to me is in-game Tirajisú is called that in the unlocks menu, but the steam achievement is still called Tiragisú (with a g), and right now our achievements page is spelling it with a g, following steam rather than in-game, yet the achievements page is also listing licensed dlc unlocks that don't have platform achievements... it's a bit of a mix on that page whether it's listing achievements or it's listing unlocks
done [[Achievements#Ode_to_Castlevania]]
+8k its crazy
otc is crazy
awesome work!
my biggest concern with this is how we're gonna name the individual pages
since many of them are the same as the item they unlock
so basically, by default, should we resort to Item (for an item page) and Item (unlock) (for the page about the unlock itself)?
and do we need to put hatnotes in each of these pages?
if it were to choose one to priorize if that is needed the item page would have a bigger importance because the unlock each player gets only once so item unlock could call item page when needed. But If the issue is with achievements and unlocks, the bigger importance is to unlocks since they are on all plataforms while achievements don't || , and collab DLCs also don't have achievements, but certainly have unlocks||
Yeah they would probably be named like that if we did separate pages for them
if unlocks get separate pages then they need the achievement ids pwease :>
would be useful for super niche stuff whenever people wanna save edit
for sure, id would be a param
yippee
@hexed oasis do you think it would be worth making two separate pages for unlocks and achievements while making a distinction between the 2 or not?
nah the achievements are tied directly to unlocks, so it'd be fine to just have an additional optional name param in the unlock infobox and display the row only if that name is defined (eg if the name is different from in-game), similar to character infobox alias param
it'd be weird to have separate pages for the platform-specific achievements because then you go down the road of potentially having separate pages for each platform's version of the achievement (eg Wings (Steam achievement), Wings (trophy) (psn), Wings (Xbox achievement), etc.)
yeah, I agree
potentially i could see a situation where there might be some achievements only on specific platforms, so maybe we'd have a param to list which platforms that unlock's achievement is available on, but that might be a bit overkill - i haven't compared the lists but i assume all the platforms that have achievements all have the same ones
https://steamcommunity.com/stats/1794680/achievements/

https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/achievements/vampire-survivors-f699a1
(idk if ios game center/apple arcade, android, or switch have achievements)
I can check android
actually even just from a quick glance at those 4 links, the total count shown on each of them is different
steam 228, psn 229, xbox 228, epic 220
yeah the plat trophy
ah yea psn adds their own for getting them all, forgot about that... what's up with epic's tho, missing 8
brah
no idea
looks like it's the 1.13 ones that aren't on epic
odd
first allegedly complete music infobox
if the key is wrong its because im not an expert musician
@hexed oasis I'm thinking we can start with at least rewriting intros for key pages
(commenting on this: https://www.reddit.com/r/VampireSurvivors/comments/1mfsoiy/comment/n9hz1le/?context=3)
like [[weapons]] or [[characters]]
if you've got any ideas for how to rewrite them while keeping the same info and not just making the wording more awkward to read, then go for it - that's not the kind of thing i'm good at at all, tho if you've got any ideas for rewriting the individual character/weapon/etc. page opening prose, i can set a find/replace bot across them
understandable
I feel like it's easier for key pages because there are many ways you can introduce or discuss weapons, characters, items, etc. in these key pages
as for individual pages, it's harder though, because the intros are just 2 sentences. there aren't many ways where you can rephrase "x is a character. their starting weapon is y."
but it's not impossible either
yeah
for individual pages, we can start small at least and see if that works
e.g. [[Imelda Belpaese]]'s intro can be:
Imelda Belpaese is a playable character in Vampire Survivors. She starts with the Magic Wand.
or
Imelda Belpaese is a playable character in Vampire Survivors. The weapon that she starts with is the Magic Wand.
instead of:
Imelda Belpaese is one of the playable characters in Vampire Survivors. Her starting weapon is Magic Wand.
I do prefer intro #1 personally
those just seem more awkwardly worded imo, and those small changes won't really make much of a difference
google already filters out extra words from searches and page context (a, an, that, is, etc.) it uses keywords for filtering, so it's the main info like names and the full sentence structure that makes more difference
something like this would do or do we need even more?
To be fair, I don't think this is enough, honestly
Vampire Survivors wiki is telling me I need chrome to open it... and I have chrome installed on my phone
I'm probably just misinterpreting this message, but I don't think loneliness works that way.
I uninstalled chrome and installed it again, it solved the issue
Good
And yeah, the wiki should be accessible onto any (modern) browser
@hexed oasis our wiki is mentioned in this random post about the devs of a small game making a wiki on fandom :p
By popular demand, we've started work on a Deck of Haunts wiki, which you can now add to yourself! View full event information here: https://steamcommunity.com/ogg/3179730/announcements/detail/518594122001416248
me when someone mentions a wiki I edit haha
that must be an awesome feeling :3
yeah
maybe this is an issue with my game but the image for Alucard (Candybox) (https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Alucard#Candybox) is incorrect, since (at least on my game) the image for Alucard with the Candybox has his sprite in his running animation instead of his idle animation
yea it looks like that one does switch sprites @regal flame ^ when you have time to update it
I believe the sprite on Alucard (Candybox)'s image is the same as the sprite on the page's gallery listed as "Alucard's Sprite"
instead of the single frame of his idle animation used for Alucard (Alucart Sworb)
what if the wiki had a mascot other than retired poe in the corner that would be pretty cool
I believe I've requested a few dialogues that would use other characters
we need to wait until we get the wiki-themed stage/update in the game for that
although I think master librarian would probably work as a poe substitute on some pages
Master Librarian advisor for OTC pages?
Yeah I think Master Librarian would work for OTC pages
tbh, at this point, I consider myself as john wiki, due to how much time I've spent editing wikis (not just vsw, although vsw is easily one of the wikis I spent the most time on, and easily one of my favorites to edit!)
Hello, I need help figuring out how to edit pages on the wiki.
Do you have an account?
Yes.
You're using desktop, right?
Yep.
Ok cuz I am on mobile atm
at the top of a page, you can press edit / edit source (edit source is better)
And gtg, sorry
Ok, but how do I use the stuff?
Oh, I see now.
By the way, is it Python by any chance?
lua
Is it case sensitive or no?
Another thing I want to know is how to look at the main code for the game and DLCs itself, so I can get more accurate information.
i believe so
the most we have is https://github.com/Dezzelshipc/VampireSurvivorsFiles/tree/main/Data. a lot of things aren't in there, tho
Ok, that actually helps out a lot.
I'm starting on the Flamberge, and I plan to fill out as much of the Emerald Diorama content as I can. Since that is the DLC most people will have on account of it being free.
repeatInterval is cooldown, right?
I'll skip over that one for now.
no
interval is cooldown, repeatinterval is how often a weapon fires when it does fire. i,e the delay between whip slashes each time it fires
Ok, good to know.
The file data also says that the Flamberge's power is 2, and it increases by 0.5 at level 3 and 5. That can't be right, is it?
power is damage/10
Oh, so the base damage on Flamberge would be five.
I thought that sign meant division but alright.
Wait, so when it says 2 power in the file data, it means 20?
Ok, that makes more sense now.
yes
Flamberge's type is Normal, correct? Since its a base weapon.
yes
Cool, I'm almost done.
Actually, the source of our pages is a markup language called wikitext
isnt it based on lua tho?
Don't think so? It's closer to html
Although we do use Lua for many templates, especially infoboxes
hmm
And in template pages themselves, we can invoke lua functions
https://mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikitext can definitely give this a read though
Wikitext, also known as wiki markup or wikicode, is the markup language that consists of the syntax and keywords used by the MediaWiki software to format a page.
It is explained in more detail in Help:Editing and Help:Formatting .
Wikitext features a mixture of content, markup, macros, and metadata.
The content of current and previous revisions...
Alongside related pages if you're interested
What terms are you exactly asking for?
it looks he want to know if its wiki language make difference between capital or tiny letters or not
I've already figured out much of it, I am just filling in limit break details right now.
Is the Flamburge having no knockback intentional?
I meant like where exactly? In links for example, titles, or text in general?
in links normal is tiny letters as we type on websites
I am learning Python, which is case sensitive. I wanted to know if the coding language for the source was too.
Oh
yeah it is
I thought so too.
Generally yes
That's all for now.
Though, except for the first letter in template calls and links
That is case insensitive
e.g. linking [[king Bible]] like this will automatically capitalize the K
That is kind of weird.
Yeah, but I personally find it quite useful :p
Because it can help with lowercase redirects, such as [[fire wand]]
And here, on this wiki, we happen to have semi-automatically created lowercase redirects for pretty much all of the pages ourselves
Though, on this wiki, we usually capitalize weapon/item/character names, regardless of case sensitivity
in the beginning of vs wiki it was sensitive and required to type capitalized sometimes, california improved allowing to make it more easier not needing to do it.
Yup
Though the first letter case insensitivity was always a thing
And is also a thing on supposedly every MediaWiki wiki
But yeah, full lowercase redirects became a more recent thing, along with a bunch of other automation, maintenance, and expansion projects ever since we got out of Fand*m lol
Oh boy, now for the combos..
I'll come back to it later, I want to take a break from that for now. I can apply the other edits.
Ok, perfect.
Take your time!
Once you save an edit, does it immediately show for the rest of the site, or just the editor?
It's immediate
If you're using source editor, you can use "Show preview" to visually check your work before publishing
I did, and its a good thing because I ended up catching a small error.
Also, you're VS Fanatic on the wiki, right? Either way, welcome to the wiki!
Can you check the Flamberge page and tell me if its any good?
Combos will be done later.
Good so far!
You can do it at any time you like!
https://youtu.be/tdmq6IqBvH4
messing with porting rsw's updates gadget (https://runescape.wiki/w/MediaWiki:Gadget-updates-core.js)
it's kinda questionable since it requires passing the steam web api request for the news post through a proxy to add the right headers
but i've got it mostly converted from html->wikitext parsing to bbcode->wikitext parsing for the general structure of the news posts, since steam uses bbcode
some stuff would still need some manual cleanup... single line breaks, image widths, and a few other things - since it's bbcode rather than html, you don't get a lot of that stuff in bbcode formatting
i'd like to also add a window to select which news post - on rsw's version you input a link to one of rs's news posts, but since vs uses steam, it was easier for me to just bypass that dialog and directly request the most recent news post from steam's api
yeah
I'd imagine it'd be harder, if not impossible for discord devlogs, right?
yea nah, none of discord is publicly accessible without a bot sitting in the server logging messages to make available outside
yeah
at least the discord ones are usually just one big list - easy enough to just copy/paste, select all, and hit the unordered list button to add * in front of all the selected lines
true
either way, idk if i'll actually make it a gadget, put it in my personal js, or keep it local since the proxy request is a bit iffy... i'll be able to make the update pages quite a bit easier with it regardless
even on rsw they restrict it to custodian+ (https://runescape.wiki/w/RuneScape:Access_levels), and they're using their own backend proxy rather than a separate service
if i do make it a gadget, i'd probably make it admin+ since we don't have anything between autoconfirm and admin
ooui pls https://i.imgur.com/y7BPU2S.png
are we going to add pages for beta content or no?
you can #1348880477053911114 message
but probably best to just wait
yea you're free to if you want, we're just not making a big push for adding it until after it's been released on other platforms, to avoid confusion from anyone not on pc
i'd rather not get accidentally spoiled as well
ooui is such a pain, but it's a working dialog now https://i.imgur.com/3H3NSA4.png
at some point i'll have to try learning codex rather than ooui, it's using vue which should be a lot nicer https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Codex#Using_Codex_in_userscripts
it is also already installed on vsw so maybe i should start looking into that now, but i'm already familiar with ooui so that's what i'm using ¯_(ツ)_/¯
it also uses completely different styling so it'd be a lot of extra css work to get that going initially
the unlock method for Genevieve Gruyère is...well, it's not wrong but it's only partially right on her page
"Genevieve can be unlocked by breaking the Seal of the Banished with Eleanor Uziron in Abyss Foscari."
breaking the Seal of the Banished requires the union of SpellStrom, and afterwards you need to defeat Je-Ne-Viv
I bring up the first part since the pages for Abyss Foscari and Luminaire Foscari mention that you have to break their respective crystals with "Keitha Muort and her evolved base weapon, Millionaire" and "Legionnaire while playing as Maruto Cuts" respectively
it's not the biggest issue, since, like me, the player could just assume they need to unify the SpellStorm, but still it could lead to some unnecessary confusion
also if I'm wrong a specification would be nice but I understand if it's not worth adding
What I've been doing, and I recommend this of others, is to do a bit of cleanup in preparation, making the changes that people will probably forget to do when the time comes, like removing torino from the Unused Characters page, and tactfully adding "Ramba" to the list of characters who have bonuses in stats like armor and maxhealth, (which are also outdated pages which needed a top-up anyway, so if they're in the habit of being forgotten by others, I figured no-one would notice the premature information until it becomes regular information).
i've got this page to compile lists of pages that need changes after an update [[User:Californ1a/New update release guide]]
arguably one of the most useful non-main namespace pages on the wiki
it allows for us admins and editors to keep track of what needs updating
same, even if the information changed is quite subtle, I'd prefer for the pages to remain unchanged for now
that information can later be added back once the update comes and it remains true
Oh wait really? Oops
especially considering the beta still has like a month before it's content complete
I'm not going to insist I need evidence in order to desist, but now I'm curious; which changes have prompted confusion?
from what i've seen: just ||ramba morph||
maybe some others but i would play it safe
can always check [[Special:Contributions/Do_Not_Open]]
I just finished the Combos for the Flamberge, I intentionally won't be touching other aspects because I wouldn't be qualified for it.
If y'all have anything to add to the page however, go ahead.
I am working on the Zweihander next.
:+1:
can someone confirm that this is actually the case? if so I'll try to add it myself, I should probably start making actual contributions
you have to have the evolution, yes
{{slink|item name}}
does this work on the visual editor? i'm too scared to use the source editor lol
i went through with the edit, i'll make another minor edit when i figure out how to input icons
before and after I'm proud of myself
fixed
ah
thank you :3
is there a way to do this with the visual editor though?
or would I have to dive into the source editor
i assumed it's not really that bad but it just looks overwhelming lol
you def get used to it
in visual editor, you use insert->template, and search for "slink", then you put in the name
you can also type {{ in visual editor, then search for Slink, then add the desired character/item
either way, if I were you, I'd use source, since it is much easier and quicker to edit with source, given that all you need to do is type {{slink|Character/Item}}, instead of having to take the rather lengthy process of searching/inserting the template, configuring it, and having to wait additional loading/processing times in doing so
Theres a lot of OTC weapons with missing info, I did do some of them (librarian ones) but pages like trinus custodem have no limit break info
official wiki ranks 5 when searching the game itself, tho f*ndom ranks 4
yea, finally out of Google jail after a couple months our pages are showing up in searches again since a few days ago
@floral sage poncle's already provided the [[Unlock Guides]] images, in much higher resolution, so i deleted those you just uploaded
np
They are great, i see only collab without an unlock guide is amongus, but It is so easy I believe It not even need one.
Yup, even searched for Poe and on the right panel, I got the result from our current wiki
Although Fandom does still rank first
But it's progress nonetheless!
(When searching anonymously without indie wiki buddy)
(arabic text says "Fictional character" btw. usually, I don't browse in arabic, but that's the default setting for me in a private tab)
@wise crown careful with those redirects from searchdigest - quite a few of them are for beta content... like https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Zi'appunta?redirect=no you just made is for a new character Zi'Appunta Belpaese
Oh, thanks for letting me know
deleted
ngl I thought it was just a typo of Zi'Assunta for some reason
yea we'll probably have a hatnote on each of them linking to the other
well, now I know that there are at least 6 people in the Belpaese family lol
yeah, good thinking
all it would really take is adding infobox.categories['Enemies'] = 1 to the bestiary infobox, anywhere after Infobox.new() got called, if you wanted to do that
tho you can also use smw in various ways...
search by property https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Special:SearchByProperty/:Infobox/Bestiary
a property filter https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Property:Infobox?filter=Bestiary&from=&limit=500&offset=0&until=
or an ask query https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Special:Ask?q=[[Infobox%3A%3ABestiary]]&limit=500
True, or possibly adding the category from the navboxes in most cases
added btw
passive item infobox updated to the new style, still needs smw parsing
so only the weapons one is left
Good
also btw that's not a template, it's a magic word builtin to mw, similar to stuff like {{PAGENAME}}: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words#Escaped_characters
I see
On Fandom and even wiki.gg at least, it's also a template
|
Description
This template is used for creating a pipe, in wikitables contained in Parser functions.
Syntax
Insert this template using {{!}}
See also
Template:! on Meta-Wiki.
likely a holdover from older mw versions before it was added as a magic word
as long as their mw version is newer than 1.24 it should work
assuming they're not using a customized mw that removes it for whatever reason
Yeah, you're right, it works
And https://1000xresist.wiki.gg/wiki/Template:! does not exist
and apparently, not on most of the wiki.gg wikis that I've edited either, even the ones that forked from fandom, like the one below
but hey, either way, it's incredibly useful to have
thinking of changing the bestiary infobox to auto-format the hp with {{lvhp|}} if skills has HP x Level, so you just put in the number for hp rather than putting in the template manually.... might look into this a bit later
will have to go remove all the manual insertions of {{lvhp}} tho
Good idea
I'll do that if you want
nah i can probably automate it
If that's the case, then go ahead
regex is fun
\{\{Infobox Bestiary\n(.+?)\| ?health ?= ?\{\{lvhp\|([^\}]+)\}\}\n(.+?)\}\}
Time to guess what it does
So, \ is an escape character , \n means new line ofc, ? should mean any character(?)
And not sure about the meaning of (.+?)
Oh ok
and .+? is kind of a special case... it's kind of a loop, 0 or 1 instance of any amount of any character
basically it matches multiple lines of anything up to the next character you put
Alright
https://i.imgur.com/Blc76wL.png green and purple sections are the two instances of (.+?)
gotta love the rc spam when you turn off the bot filter
yup 🤣
applying the same thing to the variant statboxes now too
good
i'm tempted to dump dezz's jsons into module data pages and mw.loadJsonData() in a lua module to generate stage enemy waves tables
but realistically, rather than putting datamined files directly onto the wiki, i might just write a script locally to generate the wikitext for the tables using the json and copy/paste that wikitext onto the pages
Sounds pretty cool
how/when would the info be updated though? shortly after dezz's jsons get updated?
yea it would be a manual process, just whenever i run it to generate the new tables and manually copy them over
I see
real table vs generated
definitely would need some manual cleanup where it couldn't find the enemy name (eg BAT4 doesn't directly tie to the name Pipeestrello anywhere in the data), and all our variant names are made up, so it only knows about the official names for the main enemy that exist in the bestiary (so the links all say "Pipeestrello" rather than variant names)...
but it does seem like a decent start for stages without any wave info, people could much more easily come in to edit it with smaller fixes rather than needing to create the whole table ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Looking good so far
if someone wants to deal with the sprites on [[Whiteout]] waves, that's the first one i've dumped in from the generator
cool
btw, should we get to renaming enemy sprites wiki-wide?
or is that for later?
i'll probably do the others later, they've already all been generated into txt files, but i'm doing some manual cleanup before coyping them in
whenever - eventually we should be able to pull the sprite filenames from smw regardless of how they're named
that sounds pretty good
@hexed oasis with your rework, I'm assuming that I can cross out the first 2 list items, or at the very least the first one, right?
no, those were referring to the stage pages that already had a waves table - a bunch of those still need some sprite cleanup, especially the links so they aren't linking to enemy id redirect pages and instead go direct to the right page
got lang file parsing working, so now it's properly pulling the newer enemy names from the translation file rather than falling back to the id
also dumped it on github https://github.com/Californ1a/VSW-Wiki-Gen
i think i'll still need to do some manual overrides, like BAT4 and BAT5 being our made up names of Glowing Bat and Silver Bat
so i'll probably have to make a conversion file that just lists all our wiki name overrides to use
Good work
i'm not even gonna clean this next up up... it took quite a bit of trying to even support this monstrosity
that's a big diff https://i.imgur.com/0yUuuAI.png
it definitely needs some cleanup... probably need to go one biome at a time
won't blame you, otc stage is massive and has so much content
imagine if someone took the time to do what you did 100% manually lol
and with emerald done now, that should be all of them, at least all the ones with standard spawning mechanics
This track originated in The Dracula X Chronicles.
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Dance_of_Illusions_(Harmony_of_Despair)
Dance of Illusions is the twenty-third track of the Castlevania Series album. It was originally composed by Tomoko Sano (Sanoppi) and later arranged by Akihiro Honda and was included in the Castlevania Series album for the Ode to Castlevania DLC released on 31 October 2024.
It is one of the sixteen included tracks from Castlevania: Harmony of De...
It's a remix from Harmony of Despair hence why it is labelled as such
Then I dunno what to do there since I'm fairly certain it's labelled under Harmony of Despair in-game, so the page is technically correct
Just say that it's a mistake I guess
I'll look into it and add something to the page later
Is it from Rondo of Blood or Dracula X? You've said it's from both
would it be alright if i added a tip to Dommario's page?
"While Dommario's low Movement speed is difficult to offset, it's not impossible. Consider taking
Wings and/or Sonic Dash/Rapidus Fio, which both can help increase his Movement speed to a standard amount."
just got unblocked from Fandom after being globally blocked there for more than a year due to me advertising the fork of another wiki I admin more than a year before
doesn't mean I'll touch the Fandom wiki for VS lol
It's a remix of a Rondo track from The Dracula X Chronicles
but this is the HoD version of the track
just like after confession there is 2 versions
one from hod and one from dawn
Technically it is, but the remix was made for Chronicles
it is just labelled as it is in-game
As I've said
its probably not separated because of the icons, i dunno
@hexed oasis on the RS Wiki, there is this feature where a user on the wiki can click on a table row to mark it as "complete"
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Kalphite_Queen#Combat_Achievements
I was wondering if you think it'd be a good idea to have something similar for the [[Collection]] page on the VS Wiki so that people can keep track of what they collected and what they didn't collect
(and of course, there should be a button to select all or by DLC)
what do u think?
I discussed this with Mudscape
yea i could look into porting it - though it's gotten kind of complicated over the years with all the extra localstorage stuff added on each table row to keep track of which rows were highlighted if the table gets edited between a user's visit https://runescape.wiki/w/MediaWiki:Gadget-highlightTable-core.js
I wonder how such a feature would practically work without localstorage though 🤔
older versions of it would just save which row numbers were highlighted, now you've got to define data names for each row/cell that can be highlighted so it stores exactly which data was highlighted and adjusts when the table gets edited
for most tables tho, generally regular editors can just add the "lighttable" class next to wikitable, and that'll generally work
yeah, it's good enough for me!
except for collection, it has to be by cell, rather than by row 😛
add the individual class
smw, soon
@wanton plinth let me know if you see anything weird when you're updating [[User:Lovenus/ContentCompletion]] - i just rewrote the module [[Module:Sandbox/User:Californ1a/Completion]] and it seems to be fine but there's a lot of changes so i might have missed something
looks like normal atm
i also figured out the issues i had with megalo menya and syuuto were just me confusing the stage order in the table vs the one in-game
i guess they were fine all along
I never got an answer to this, would this be a fine tip to add?
yea that's fine - in general just feel free to make any edits you think add good info, and if it's not then it'll get changed by someone else later
finally starting some work on converting the weapon infobox to the new style [[User:Californ1a/Sandbox/Weapon]]
still gotta figure out how i want to replace the tabs for base and max stats, but it's coming along
alright i think those are looking decent, still need to work on the actual parsing of the data input
also finally got around to renaming the character infobox so it's on the proper name now and we don't have the old one laying around unused
all hatnotes have been moved off fandom's version of the module, using the much simpler one from rsw now - {{about}} and {{for}} are gone now, replaced with a single {{otheruses}}
how much lua does it have? 🤣
/hj
some, but nowhere near as much
still gotta rework the quote template, then all the huge fandom modules will be gone
yeah, the default fandom quote template is ugly
quote text isn't italicized in some cases while speaker/source is iirc when it could be bolded
and tbh, I'd say that's the least of its problems, but still
also, kinda crazy how the new wiki turned 6 months old just a couple days ago
crazy
half way to first year anniversary of our fork
i had some amazon gift card credit i had forgotten about, so i just put in a preorder for the grimoire, will be able to check any refs to it on the wiki once it's released
Plot twist: The pages are blank (it's an
)
The
kinda looks like an ice cream sandwich if you remove the gold accents on it
@hexed oasis do you think we should hide beta darkanas from navboxes until they officially get released?
just wanna be 100% sure with every aspect on dealing with beta content on the wiki
i'd say yea probably, tho other stuff from beta has also been creeping onto non-beta pages too like rerollo being added here https://vampire.survivors.wiki/?title=Hail_from_the_Future_(X)&diff=59374&oldid=59160 so it's tough to say - i don't want to discourage people from editing by removing stuff, but at the same time it probably adds some confusion for players on other platforms/outside the beta
I'm thinking alternatively, we could add a mark that is like b for beta content
when someone hovers on the letter b, there will be a "Beta content" tooltip
(also btw rs leagues just started last week https://runescape.wiki/w/Catalyst_League runs until nov 10th, so i've been busy playing that - essentially it's a "from scratch" gamemode, everyone starts with a brand new character, and since it's an mmo it's a massive grind)
alright, np
so i haven't been paying as much attention to rc on here, but if the beta releases i'll definitely take a break to get all the new content pages made
yea if you want to make something similar to the {{sic}} template, that could work
alright, will go ahead with that
the auto tables could probably also include it, right now they just don't list beta content at all - idk which way we want to go with that, list and denote or hide
I'd say list and denote for now
some of them are set up to only select pages that have a release date set in the infobox, so i'd have to change that around... and probably add another filter for the character search table
others require the page be listed in the data order first before they'll show https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/User:Californ1a/New_update_release_guide#Data
idk the order any of the beta content would show up at, i haven't played the beta
neither have I tbh
though, for darkanas, it is obvious at least
cuz they are numbered
yea... reminds me that at some point i still want to fix the arcana page names to match them in-game, but that's going to be a day filled with fixing broken modules using string pattern matching expecting the (XX) at the end to extract the number
that should be fairly simple to find/replace bot
maybe
manually fix the navbox and then jwb across all the rest of the whatlinkshere for each arcana
but it's possible that some links can be redirects and/or use sprite rather than slink
@knotty sparrow hey there, I've noticed you recently demoted yourself on the Fandom wiki. I was wondering if you're still ever interested in editing our wiki altogether? (as in, the independent one)
probably not, i have not played in ages, so there isn't much i can contribute atm
i mainly just demoted myself so i dont get notification spam from reports
That's understandable. Either way, thank you for your service. 🫡
@hexed oasis for some reason, the usage of the B template isn't counted through the table cell width 🤔
hm
i guess it probably needs to be added inside the span rather than after it, i'll mess with it in a bit
actually... it's not doing that for me, so idk if i can fix it if i can't reproduce it
maybe cuz we have different resolutions
nah i'm changing the page width in devtools
when I zoom out, it's fine though
the base stat pills get wrapped for me on smaller widths but the superscript stays within its cell https://i.imgur.com/F49qbhc.png
try now?
the css will break slightly now if a character has both a dlc badge and a beta tag - the spacing will just look a bit weird, but it should still be okay
back when the coop released and all the animated enemy gifs got uploaded
well we wont need to use both tags because dlcs never have beta versions
oh wow, I only noticed this today
🥚
[[egge]]
i looked through a bunch of the enemy gifs for ones that would work well as a loading circle - there's actually quite a few that are circles or animated in a circle pattern
the game also does have a treasure chest animation that is used for loading as well
but I like the one on the wiki too!
couple others i was considering
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/File:Animated-Sinistronz.gif
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/File:Animated-Moon_Duck.gif
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/File:Animated-Bloody_Painting.gif
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/File:Animated-Bundle.gif
but i think the egge fits
Yeah it's good
Anyways, might consider making some barebone pages on the beta stuff, since more people are getting interested in uploading beta sprites/documenting beta content
Does Super Candybox actually need 6 max weapon and passive to appear?
Figures, the wiki claimed you need 6 max weapon and passive but I already removed the 6 part. Since I mostly use 1 max weapon for testing, I can still get super candybox in the past so it is clearly false.
you don't even need 1 max weapon as long as you got candybox 1 and can't evolve or level up any weapon or passive you have then it should be good
also i'm pretty sure you can have a weapon that can evolve but then you can't get it from single chests
@regal flame when you get a chance can you check the character json for the beta characters and let me know if any of them have the new 'preserve' stat by default (without buying the powerup), or if any of them have 'defang' by default (none of the current characters do, just want to make sure beta characters also don't)?
It seems that there are no characters with such stats.
I also added a beta branch on GitHub if you need
https://github.com/Dezzelshipc/VampireSurvivorsFiles/tree/v1.14-beta
ah cool, thx
[[Toastie]] Can someone fix what this part is trying to say? It is worded confusingly and I don't know which invert option applies to the 2 or 3 pianos past Gold Ring
this option https://i.imgur.com/c7Bevig.png
if it's enabled, it's saying trickster will appear after the third piano past the gold ring
if it's disabled, trickster will appear after the second piano past the gold ring
seems like the sentence is just missing a bit of grammar
this should clarify it a bit https://vampire.survivors.wiki/?title=Toastie&diff=60314&oldid=60310
this also reminds me i really want to redesign how the unlock template works, so we don't have to put all the details within the template - instead have top and bottom templates so the details can be in the regular page source
i'm breaking stuff for a min
@hexed oasis why is the Unlock template separated into 2? 🤔
content can actually be put into the page and syntax highlighted rather than all green within the template
also better for visual editor, they can edit the content as if it's regular page content rather than needing to know source stuff within the template content
also line breaks will work properly, no br tags needed
slightly more annoying having to put the extra bottom template, but it's worth the benefits
Yeah
[[Soleil Belmont]] 's starting weapons aren't entirely correct on the wiki page. He starts with Jet Black Whip, Vibhuti Whip, and Vanitas Whip, which are all listed, but what isn't listed is that he starts with hidden duplicates of all three
I'm only bringing it up here because I'm not entirely sure where to put the information (it's between the place where his starting weapons are listed and the passive bonuses section, idk which to put it in)
thanks man
Y’all should get someone to lock certain outdated & irrelevant posts like https://discord.com/channels/904353235006017556/1398936071714373682
I'll forward this with staff
Most of us with the wiki role don't have additional perms on the server though, just on the wiki
i can lock my own posts
beta stuff -> ||can someone change the name of Preserve's page to recycle pls? it changed in the latest beta update https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Preserve||
done
ty
@tropic zephyr [[Secretino Dagsson]] do you know if 5k cost correct? dezz's json shows 50k https://github.com/Dezzelshipc/VampireSurvivorsFiles/blob/v1.14-beta/Data/Vampire Survivors/Character.json#L6202
idk his spell so i cant unlock him easily to test. he was pretty expensive tho so i imagine it's right
also lol im working on his page rn
ah
ill start picking at the survarot page when im done with this
it wouldnt even be hard im just lazy
how do you link wikipedia again
[[w:Page]]
ty
possibly listed in [[Template:MechanicNav]] which adds the Mechanics category
at some point if they each end up needing their own pages with infoboxes then they could be their own category
i feel like it warrants its own category
they're obtained differently enough and are just very different in general
my god there are a lot of effects
but for now just having a single overview page like [[Glimmers]] does is probably the best starting point
yeah that would work
they dont need to be split but the page will be quite big
what
click on it and screenshot the list of functions
a
(or blank, if it's beta and has no release yet)
the template put the relic name in there lol
ty
do we wanna give party mode its own page? or just list the behaviors under masquerades page
thats really the only difference between it and local co-op XD other than how they're accessed ofc
probably just on masquerade for now
kk
Is this naming good for Survarots?
yea seems fine for now - also can you grab the rerollo sprite (probably the same as reroll)
tbh we might want to just upload duplicate sprites for powerups/stats, like having both Sprite-Might.png, and Sprite-Spinach.png as separate files - would be nice for the file history if they ever diverge into separate sprites in-game
Would it be worth mentioning that [[Recycle]] used to be called "Preserve" (even if it was only in beta)?
it's already in the update history
ok good
@fast tulip regarding this, posts will remain unlocked by default, but one of the staff locked the post you linked
oh yeah btw is there a rule or something against people who are banned on the discord from editing the wiki
just curious since i noticed someone who is banned here on the wiki
nothing set in stone tbh
but honestly, imo, as long as they're banned here but their behavior on the wiki remains to be acceptable, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, because every edit counts
Likewise, in the opposite situation, if they are banned from the wiki but not from the discord, they can feel free to appeal the ban or even discuss improving the wiki (very rare situation, but still), although what they get to do on the discord is not for me to decide
alr
This is just what I think personally though, dunno about the other staff
Personally, I don't like gatekeeping, and I am all for people proving themselves to be productive and having good behavior on the wiki
Of course, I'd only warn then ban them if they become disruptive on the wiki too
is the|| survarocchi|| sprite in the game files? gonna make the ||survarot|| page today and i noticed it isnt in the file list
actually, is it possible to make thumbnail images bigger
For the pickup? I could go find it.
that works too yeah
||the relics name is survarocchi but they share the same sprite. technically i think the pickup is a "booster"||
the sprite should be called ||Tarots3||
Item data for the ||relic says it's Tarots2||.
Which funnily enough is the wrong sprite.
It's a little smaller than I thought it was.
Did you need anything else while I've got the program open?
how are ||card editions handled? wanted to get an example of each one (holo, foil, etc)||
||The cards seem to be layered with the base sprites having the number, the character and a background on it. Then there are seperate sprites for a multitude of star quantities, then the small tags for Foil, Gala, Holo, Inve and Poly||.
Effects present ||on the cards|| might be handled in-engine.
bump
@lost dome are these icons anywhere in the files?
Whoops, a bit late on the reply here. I'll look into it.
ty
Just saw while digging through the sprites that the Predator looking enemy in Laborratory is internally named Apex and that got a good chuckle out of me.
Here's a banana while you wait.
awesome
...Is the banana even used in-game? I don't remember any bananas.
Yeah this takes a bit of time. VS has a lot of sprites, sorry.
all good
🤔 Oh...
thats for debuffs on ||survarot||
||christines has it for might. inverted cards have it too||
Yeah, so the icons are exploded into parts.
Neat. Not what I'm looking for though.
This looks like it might be what's used for the display as a baseline.
Got'em. Did you want them all or just the ones you posted?
all of em
evil ahh smile
ty
I love how really small spoilers just display OIL
OIL
The smile seems to indicator ||some survarots might summon familiars.||
As I usually ask, is there anything else you would like for me to look for while I have my software open?
👍 | Alrighty then.
preview 👀
You dropped this:
what's this about
[[survarot]]
that's gonna take me some getting used to, my goodness
We should have a page for soppravissuti ai vampiri
what
it's the series of poncle videos where a bunch of characters talk to poe
ah
the series name apparently means "Vampire Survivors" in Italian
if someone wanted to, they could take on a project to document all of poncle's official vs videos, similar to what rsw does https://runescape.wiki/w/Video
most of the videos are just reuploads of tracks though
though there are some valuable videos
rsw documents music and soundtrack videos too, like https://runescape.wiki/w/The_Glory_Of_Combat_-_The_Official_RuneScape_Soundtrack
oh wow
(also, banger song btw 😛 )
@hexed oasis Hi. This is editor CURSEDMINE.
Regarding your questions a few days ago, yes I'm familiar with regex and AWB, which is usually My ideal choice of software but JWB is also fine.
As for what I'm planning to do, I would mostly focus on improving articles' looks (adding sprites, fixing typos...) and also some maintenance work (categorizing pages, adding missing files, adding hatnotes,...)
Also, the AWB page mentions 250 non-automated edits as an alternative requirement so i think that makes me qualified. 🤔
As for what I'm planning to do, I would mostly focus on improving articles' looks (adding sprites, fixing typos...) and also some maintenance work (categorizing pages, adding missing files, adding hatnotes,...)
Those are exactly the kind of things I focus on when editing the wiki 😛
anyways, welcome to the discord! glad to see you here
ah so you are in here
most the categorizing should be done with templates rather than manually adding categories, and for missing files dezz has some templates for batch uploads that puts all the standard stuff on the file pages https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/User:Dezzelshipc/Upload so those don't really need bot edits
but like i said we don't have anyone bureaucrat right now who could give the bot flag, so you can make a separate bot account if you want to and we can ask WG to assign the bot flag to it later, or we can just put your user account on the checkpage for now
I'm ok with being put on the checkpage for now, at least until the beaurocrat issue is solved 👍
@wise crown that good with you?
yeah, absolutely
done, i'd recommend adding the [[VSW:JWB]] script import to your [[Special:MyPage/common.js]]
@hexed oasis it was added later than august 4
#🍗beta-devlog message
same mini patch that added ||torino||
ah, i was just removing the duplicate section
all good
let me know if any site styles look weird, i just got rid of a bunch of css that shouldn't have been used anywhere anymore, but you never know
i can't remember if this is true https://steamcommunity.com/app/1794680/discussions/0/604169272337559549/
are there any characters that have a price in the data files but unlock automatically and you don't have to pay the cost?
if so, we should probably add an infobox param for that to denote that the price exists but doesn't need to be paid
outside of sigma and drac, i dont recall any chars working like that
testing a bunch will spells all have costs so
either a hidden mechanic, people going insane, or a bug
the "a lot" part in the comments make me lean towards people going insane
because thats just wrong
Even then, it's more like unlocking a character than buying it at no price, rather than automatically unlocking up front
yeah
Alright. I think I've added Stat and Passive sprites to all character pages now. 👍
I thought Sigma did have a price that just happened to always be 0.
yeah but thats not the point
Is it not about characters needing to be bought before being played?
it's about "a lot" of characters costing 0
by "not needing costing 0", do you mean "should be counted as free" or "are freely unlocked as soon as you get them"? (either way it's false)
yeah still false
Would it be possible to make an in-wiki Build Planner? 🤔
in theory, yeah, it can be done with js, but I'd imagine it'd take a lot of time to do tbh
i probably need to finish up converting the weapon infoboxes first so their data gets stored in a bucket that can be queried by the js (partially done examples [[User:Californ1a/Sandbox/Weapon]] & module code [[Module:Sandbox/User:Californ1a/Weapon]]) , but if you wanted to you're definitely free to mess around in your own sandbox pages with whatever you want
you can make your own js gadget as a subpage of your commonjs, and then load it in your commonjs (so other people can also try it if they load the subpage, without loading your entire commonjs), and make a subpage in your userspace with a div with a class for the gadget to hook into
personally i do js gadget testing outside the wiki tho, with a local js file that i load in as a userscript with tampermonkey
(main downside of doing it that way is load order tho, the global mw, OO, $ jquery, etc. don't exist yet when local userscript initially runs, as opposed to on-wiki scripts that have all that already loaded prior to personal scripts)
we've also got a form calculator script already available if you wanted to try to set something up using that in wikitext or lua rather than a js gadget
https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Vampire_Survivors_Wiki:Calculators
they can be a bit confusing at first, so if you do want to try that route and need some help feel free to ask
lol
lol
honestly i think we should just kill this article
i dont know if anyone wants to write guides for 183 characters
||187 on beta||
yeah
it feels like there should be more guide-type content on the wiki, but it's also weird because a lot of it is pretty subjective which doesn't really fit with typical wiki content that tries to just give direct info without player opinion
tbf, old gold farming is still somewhat relevant for anyone who doesn't have any dlcs
base game changes way more than dlc stuff honestly
it would still be good to have a baseline gold farm, yeah
part of the thing with gold farming, though, is it's kinda not a thing (for both how and why you do it) until you beat the directer
the player just does not need the gold to warrant it, and any method they have access sucks, so it ends up being "just play the game or wait until then"
some people are still using it ¯_(ツ)_/¯ https://reddit.com/r/VampireSurvivors/comments/1o36hl0/best_ive_managed/nit41xm/
probably because the updated ones havent spread into the reddit
/ arent on the wiki
tbf i also think we should nuke that place
||the reddit, yeah
||
yea... that's most likely because of how few editors there are - it's crazy the ratio between player count and wiki editors for vs
yep
tbh i don't think the subreddit's that bad - sure there's a lot of repeated questions, missing collection log stuff mainly, and a few regulars over there tend to yell at new players for not reading the wiki, instead of just answering them, which is a bit sad, but otherwise it seems decent enough to me
the last part is why i hate it
didnt know about that last one
also yeah the reddit is very much a nothing burger
tbf tho, the sub could definitely use some better mod tooling - they should set up automod to reply to stuff like missing collection log posts to nicely direct them to check the wiki collection page, and have automod reply to comments with fandom links to direct them to the official wiki instead
just seems like there hasn't been much effort put into actually running the sub
true
all i really interact with on there are posts mentioning the wiki anyway - i've got a local copy of weirdgloop's bot set up posting in my private server when it sees any comments on the vs sub mentioning the wiki https://github.com/weirdgloop/reddit-discord so i get notified of any wiki-related stuff on there
neat
i'll probably start converting my gold farms to the wiki
also start making/updating them with 1.14 changes
mainly this!
yea go for it - probably quite a few of the things on steam guides could be better done on the wiki - and if you need anything similar to the inline xp calc on [[Level up]], or want to dynamically pull data from any of the infoboxes to do any calculations for gold farm rates or whatnot, let me know
ill cross the deep info bridges when i get there. i dont really think it's worth since gold can vary quite a bit with fps, so any relative effectiveness calcs could be rendered moot
yea a full calc for it wouldn't really be accurate, just saying if you're working on the guide and think of anything that would benefit from user input or pulling values from infoboxes so the guide doesn't get outdated as quickly (as long as the infoboxes stay updated), then i could set something up for that
ye
@tropic zephyr i'd recommend not putting links and templates in section headers - it makes it harder to navigate on mobile and link to sections
ah okie
best to keep them just to text
noted
wow im at almost 750 edits
pogs
someday ill get around to combo and limit break tables again...
theoretically the individual combo tables on each of the weapon pages could store that data, and then the larger overall table one could be generated
yeah
then it wouldn't need to be edited in both spots and they'd stay updated with each other
but probably best to wait to think about trying to do anything like that until after the new beta darkanas are fully released first
Yeah. Luckily only 1 would actually have to be added to a bunch of tables
ah are the other two not needed in the combos table? because the template data is already set up for adding all of them https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Module:Combos/Data
||victorian horror|| synergies with very few weapons, and ||call of a mad moon|| is completely independent. All of the synergies come from ||pale diamond incursion||
alright, can probably just comment the lines out for those then instead of adding them to the data list once they're out of beta
Looking at the Platinum Whip's page, it looks like we don't have the sprites for the Richter ghosts it fires. I'll see if I can look into that.
Ah, the sprites are made blue and transparent in engine. That would be a hurdle.
Ngl I wanna use this
It's not that hard to set up to run on your local machine if you're at least a little familiar with python, it's got the instructions for everything in the GitHub readme - the only thing not in the readme would be what regex to use in the config, but if you want the one I'm using right now it's
([Ww]iki(?![\\w/])|[Ww]ikia(?![\\w.])|vampire-survivors\\.fandom\\.com|vampire\\.survivors\\.wiki)
I would've just expected "wiki" or "fandom" but I'll take it
I do agree that we do need an automod every time the old wiki is mentioned
I've seen you tirelessly mention them about the new wiki lol
you can probably find some free cloud server to run a small python script too if you don't want to leave your pc running, but I already keep mine on for other stuff so I haven't looked too much into it - I think there's a free tier on Google cloud that'll just give you a tiny linux vps
yea I've got a copy/paste for fandom comments lol
It could easily be put into an automod script if any of the sub's mods wanted to set that up
@south cargo that weapon categorization you tried to add to the navbox is something i'll probably do as part of the infobox when i'm converting them - since it already takes a type param it'd be easy to add a category based on that, similar to the arcana type (https://vampire.survivors.wiki/w/Module:Infobox_Arcana#L-77--L-81)
it's also something i'd like to add to either the bestiary infobox or statbox enemy for these [[Category:Enemies by spawn type]] instead of manually adding those to their pages
(that gcat param in navboxes is a newer thing in rsw's module that is based on detecting their specific template usage - i've forked an older version of their navbox docs over here now to avoid that confusion)
man
i
love
tables
tables can be pretty nice, until they get huge, then they're a bit of a nightmare to edit
yeah
that's why i usually prefer dynamically generating them as much as possible, it's way easier to tweak a bit of code to affect the whole table rather than manually keeping all the rows updated
but that can also be limiting for all the editors unfamiliar with lua
thinking of making a page specifically for weapon selectors
since this unlock is for all of the weapon selectors in otc
@hexed oasis hey there, what do you think of building a more advanced/sortable evos table, just like [[Characters/Search]]?
Per this: #💀survivors-spoilers message
That's the plan, but I need to get the weapon infoboxes converted first so they're storing the data in bucket for it to be queried by a calc module
Alright, good luck on that
there's now a little cog button in the top right corner that can be used to toggle showing beta content across the wiki (on mobile right now, beta content is always hidden, i might mess with that later)
for editors, use the beta-content class on anything that should get hidden when the toggle is off (eg <span class="beta-content">[[Westwoods]]{{b}}</span>), or if it's an entire list item that needs to be hidden, use beta-content-item to hide that entire item in the list
also i didn't apply any hiding on pages that have the beta banner, if someone's going to one of the dedicated pages about beta content then they probably know what they're looking for - but there's a neat little css trick i might mess with to hide all page content under the beta banner if the reader has the beta toggle off, and instruct them to toggle it on to view the page, but that's something to mess with later
#mw-content-text .messagebox.beta ~ * {
display: none;
}
what if they have this and try to search for a beta item? :p
will it just be an empty text?
and don't forget there are also these search results
i don't think i can affect what comes up in search at all
though, I honestly have no clue how these search results can be hidden
yeah, that's what I thought
maybe unless if there's like some advanced function, magic word, or something else that could possibly allow toggling specific search results that neither of us know of? 🤔
the best solution for stuff not showing up in search would probably be getting a Beta: ns made, and putting all pages for beta stuff under that, then moving them once the beta is released but that's probably more work than it's worth
that could probably work, maybe you're on to something 🤔
and we can run a bot or 2 to deal with converting beta pages into main namespace (and removing beta classes/templates as well)
also in terms of search there's some cases like [[Bianca]] where the second line in the text is all beta, but that line would probably show up in #🤖info-bot
could probably add noexcerpt to the classes, in addition to beta-content to fix that, but again, probably just not worth keeping up with adding noexcerpt specifically to the lines near the top of the page content
yeah
I can go through all the pages with beta stuff tn
anyway, that should be a decent enough toggle for now to deal with people getting beta spoiled
i already did
O
yeah, check [[Special:RecentChanges]]
no worries
Added page preload for tracks
it was probably one of, if not the only major category, that had a page preload missing
yay for gold farming page
should probably remove the bone zone min-maxing page from the guides page
outdated and the gold farming page serves its purpose
that one should probably be moved and converted into a sketamari strategy guide for early game/new players trying to get that relic
the page is a gold farm page currently
yea right now it is
and yeah, agree
could probably just overwrite it with the section currently on [[Sketamari#Counter_strategy]], give it its own guide page
ye
i also think a page for room 1665 would be good
also - how bad would it be to have every characters' tip section for the hero guide page?
pretty long... replace the page content with this and preview it:
{{#dpl:
namespace=
|uses=Template:Infobox Character
|include=#Tips
|ordermethod=title
|limit=500
}}
i was expecting worse tbh
yea, it's not awful (obv it'd need some more formatting within the dpl rather than just dumping the full list of characters), but still not great
probably just better to keep it to each character's page
if you cant tell, im adamant on (temporarily) removing the hero guides page lol
idk if you want to rewrite any of these to read more cleanly when beta is toggled off, but i just added beta content spans around some stuff so they get hidden by default https://vampire.survivors.wiki/?title=Guide%3AGold_farming&diff=61495&oldid=61494
it's fine
yay, our wiki is now showing up before the Fandom one! 🎉
I don't think that's meant to happen
In [[Recycle#Trivia]], it notes that Fever is one of the hidden stats like Charm and Defang, but should we mention it right now? Although Karoma's Mana already provides this stat, we know that it is coming "officially" with ||Antipyretic|| eventually. (Did some testing, bonus from Big Trouser and Sammy should be a multiplier for Gold Fever on top of Fever stat, so they are not replaced by some flat Fever bonus. Haven't test if it affects Gold Finger though but it shouldn't, unless they changed it.)
It’s given by ||survarot || as well so
||the antipyretic sprite also shows up when you get it from survarot||
And luca has mentioned it by name
I think that all the permission we can add it as a full page to the wiki, especially when the sprite is being used. ||Thorns being capitalised is interesting as well, does it count as retaliation or its own thing?||
||it's retaliation i think||
working on converting the bone zone guide to sketamari guide rn
someone will have to rename or move the page cause idk how lol
top right corner, more->move
ty
probably gonna (temporarily at least) move the hero-guides page
yea that's probably a good idea - i think the best thing to do with that one is focus on early game characters and make it sort of like a basic new player guide for early progression without many unlocks
of course the obvious advice is "just follow the unlocks menu" but having something a little deeper would be nice
ye
uhhh what thing do i move it to
Guide:Early progression or Guide:New player guide seem fitting
alr
the funny poe gadget isn't working for me for some reason
oh nevermind
okay no it's weird it works sometimes but not all the time
idk
it's a random chance
it'll only show up on about 1 in 10 pages (though it's slightly less - it's 1 in 10 for the gadget to run, but then it also has to be on a matching page that has a quote set up for it)
i could probably have the gadget add some config somewhere so you could adjust the chance, but right now it's just hard set at 1/10
okie dokie
now there's a setting alongside the beta content toggle to change your poe chance, only appears when you have the gadget enabled https://i.imgur.com/1FYg273.png
gear in the top right corner of any page
when I go on the wiki this is what show up
it might take a bit before your cache is refreshed and it gets the new files - you can bypass cache by adding ?debug=1 to the end of the url (tho it will take longer to load, the gear won't show up for a while)
Hey, sorry to bother. I hope I used the correct tag for this post: https://discord.com/channels/904353235006017556/1430220531386421288
that's from before the transfer from fandom
Yes
how about the official wiki's debut
7 months in
wow i thought that was at least a year
The fork became public on 13 March 2025
