I play on Xbox X, while my friend plays on ps5. We both have our own Ubisoft accounts connected to our consoles, yet it doesn't show each other in our friends list in online. When I check Ubisoft, it shows he is on Legions, but won't show up in the friends list in-game.
One thing to note is that when I'm in the online area with the friends list, it shows my Xbox gamertag, and my Xbox friends. I'm guessing it's that it's not showing my ubisoft friends?

Cross gen means like PS4 players can play with PS5 players and Xbox Series S players can play with Xbox Series X players iirc
