trying to get my new copy of watchdogs 2 to actually run

it just opens the splash screen, does nothing for like 3 minutes straight then closes itself

i can't figure out the cause and the tutorials and guides i've found online so far haven't been helpful

and yes i know i can run the game its not a pc specs issue
