I really like the combat system of the game. I think it's super fun to juggle enemies with the bat and then grapple them to get them close to you again. But there is one thing I really dislike about combat, and that's the lack of invincibility frames and how the knocks back on Luca feels.
Invincibility frames:
Right now you can get absolutely bodied by a large group of enemies, due to the lack of any invincibility frames. And this was especially noticeable in the aquarium, where the game mixes a lot of different enemies together. It gets really frustrating in some enemy encounters since you can easily end up getting stun lucked, and then die without getting a chance to recover from enemies attacks. I get that it might put a small bit of challenge away from combat, but the game is already pretty tuff so I don't think it makes a big change to difficulty. Just think a lot of people would find the combat a lot more enjoyable if we got invincibility frames.
Knock back:
I really don't like how little control you have of Luca when she get knocked back after receiving damage. It feels really clunky that you can only move after landing on the ground. It's really jarring since I feel like the rest of the game controls really well, but just that aspect is pretty awful. I think there should be a way to cancel knock back mid air, maybe by dodging or something. But as an alternative you could also add a timer for when Luca resets after receiving knock back. I think by doing either of this it could make combat combat feel way smoother, and might fix some of the issues people have with it.
Again I want to state that I really enjoy the combat a lot, but I feel like these two things are weighing it down quite a bit. I hope you'll read my feedback and take it into account. Possessors is still pretty cool and I am excited to finish it.
