This game has a really good combat system, but there's enough little janky things in there for it to really remind you that HLB is in early access.
I would really appreciate a combat-improvement focused monthly update soon.

Charged attacks take too long to charge
I use charged attacks more than most. I still feel like they take too long to charge - and the holobytes that activate on charge attack are near useless on most weapons, which is a damn shame.

Preferred weapons suck
Pretty much every defender of this system has come around to despising it, myself included. Like combat state, there's a good intention done in the worst way possible.

(Partially) Bring back the HLD ammo system
Hit enemies/objects with your blade to recharge a bit of your current magazine, get battery pickups from enemies to stock up on reserve ammo. This would fix several parts of the game at once.

Add something special(?)
Yeah this is a really loose suggestion. I do feel like there's a good opportunity for something that gives characters a unique identity AND makes combat more unique here.
