#Retaining windows' normal float state at launch

To not touch any window? Or to not touch a specific window?
If you want it for specific Windows you could try out floating/ignore rules: https://lgug2z.github.io/komorebi/common-workflows/floating-applications.html

If you don't want it to handle any window at all at start then I guess you could try enabling float override: https://komorebi.lgug2z.com/schema#float_override
Or maybe set the first workspace to be unmananged (don't add a layout to that workspace).

I have float override on true but it WILL tile all windows when it opens, however after the app has launched and I open a new window, it would not tile, but thats as far as it goes. I still need to refloat and resize all the windows it screwed over unless I put them all in ignore-windows which would be quite tedious. I was wondering is that the only way?
I think you are trying to fight against how Komorebi is meant to be used. Or I just don't properly understand why you would not want komorebi to manage your windows. As I said you can try and put your first workspace to be unmanaged.
