Whenever I convert the transaction to a transaction envelope xdr and attempt to sign it with an external wallet.

I always get invalid xdr

I need this urgently.

It depends on the type of transaction, Rabet for example doesn't support Soroban transactions. If you need to sign soroban transactions I suggest you using Freighter or xBull (disclaimer: I'm the xbull developer)
