i Just played about an hour of gameplay and i went to close the game to make sure things were okay when reloading it back up after playing for a while and it's now deciding that i can't join a game and i lost my character?

Just wanted to follow up that I tried the same. Tried reinstalling mod etc. Even when I create a new character it still "failes to join"

Failed to Join across multiple characters generally means your shared stash is corrupted.
Either remove it from the save directory or restore it from backup from the Launcher.

As Xan said...it's 95% an issue with your shared stash, and is not a program-bug.

Thanks. I found a backup of the stash and restored. I just hope I haven't forgotten anything. Is it D2R being unstable or the fact the the mod changes the stash?

Hard to say without a lot more info...but it's not even necessarily a modding thing.
Happens all the time to people if they lose power, their OS blue screen, etc. The main reason backup/restoral system was created
Game simply doesn't have time to write the file properly...and it gets corrupted.

Will the settings for automated character backup also work for shared stash?

yes, it backs up both and also logs everything in your error log files

I just had this happen to me but I am unsure how to restore from backup at the launcher. If some could give some input how to do this, It would be appreciated. Thank you.

Launcher - QOL Settings is where you find the Restore function.
