I am experiencing this same exact issues after to attempting to update Remodded. Before work today I performed the initial installation, which went off without a hitch, then played for a couple of hours, shut down my PC, then went to work. Upon my return from work, I attempted selecting "Check for updates", proceeded to download the updates, then began receiving various error messages like this (some saying myusersettings.json, and some saying a couple/few other paths as well being inaccessible).
Rebooting my device resulted in the error no longer appearing - now I'm able to load the mod, but once I attempt to select "Play" on my offline character, it gets to the dude at the door, door opens like it's loading, freezes, then crashes without any error provided.

Do you have the mod on a protected folder like "program files"? That error is indicating that the file its trying to acces is prohibited, usually because its in use or you user cannot access the file with higher privileges

given the path on the exception, u have the mod on the program files that is a protected folder. You should start the launcher as admin or change the location of the folder to a less protected place
