It's been a while since I played, but when I used to play there used to be a resolution setting for an aspect ratio along the lines of 21:9, but now it seems to be missing, is there a reason it's missing? is it perhaps my own settings or is there a different reason?

On this old version, the resolutions are reported by Windows, there's nothing much you can do. But if your monitor is 21:9, a resolution should be there, as the maximum resolution supported by the monitor is guaranteed to be in.
But if you want better support for that, checkout our beta branch, it's guaranteed to have 21:9
(and all aspect ratios, really, cause the game window is resizable) (tho some screens still don't handle it well)
