im missing key files in the installation folder and when i opened the game all my save files are gone, and the required files arent in my folder please help

try searching your C: for "user.dat"
maybe your windows is hiding it somewhere else for some reason
I don't have any other explanation for why you'd be missing all saves and backups

Nah it’s my pc I’ve had for a few years nothings changed, I’ll go check for it I doubt I’ll find it I’m sure I’ve searched for the file before but I’ll look again

it's the user_beta1.dat. I'm not even sure if you can use that since it's the beta save, but you'd rename it into user.dat and copy to install folder

the set in my documents is a 2nd set of backups, steam cloud doesn't even touch that so it's always safe from any issues

hmm, could have been caused by some windows locale change. that's also not the most recent one, but seems like a save from last october so fairly recent
make a copy of it

it might be a sign that your file indexing itself has issues, which could also be related to what I theorized as a cause, local HD corruption
in other words it might be a sign that your HD has issues
