When you played your shield bug, on your turn he gets +2 from the Urchan which made him a 6 power.
Being a 6 power on your turn, he does not get Hunter and Poison from the Snail Thrower. So if you attack with him you did not get to declare blocker and he did not have poison to exaust the elephan.
On the opponents turn however, he is still a 4 and has poison and hunter (but hunter is not useful on opponents turn)
