What im trying to say is. Because of small niche things on defense that aren’t possible due to coding, due to it overwhelming offense, it’s not feasible to make defense ‘better’ outside of making defensive badges mean more than they do currently.

You can’t have a game with overwhelming defense. Then park games become too long, rec games become 50 point totals, and the fun aspect of the game goes out the window and it turns into everyone playing like Steph curry running off offball screens to get open. Offense will always be easier. Defense SHOULD have the potential to be great if you are good at defense, but it shouldn’t be overwhelming. As much as people want this game to be real life it will never be. If we’re being realistic and wanting it to play more like real life, contested shots up to like 60% should be more makeable considering contests to an nba player in real life does barely anything to their shot unless it physically changes the shot.

Ball literally phasing through the defenders. The other patch wasn’t even bad. I was a pg and didn’t get unnecessary turnovers because I used LT to protect the ball, knew when to let go and drive and when to pass. Release tutorials for them instead of letting them play selfish unrealistic basketball. These guys don’t actually love basketball so why should we conform to people who don’t even understand the concept? Maybe the game logic is just bad and a lot of reaches the hand of the defender doesn’t actually make contact with the ball or something but I do feel pretty strongly that if the defender is on the same side of the ball and they time their reach well it should result in a steal more often than not (taking into consideration attribution and badges). But yea no BUMP steals, thank you.

Tbh that’s not how you get steals in this game for better or worse. The only way to get steals is to play on the side of the defender and when they do a dribble move with that hand you reach. If they aren’t doing a dribble move, you won’t get a steal because there’s no “canned” steal animations and if you are square in front of the defender, you also won’t get a steal, you need to play on the ball hand side

Everything should be a skill gap. Defense should be a skill gap, offense should be a skill gap. Dribbling, shooting, passing, stealing, etc. There should be a difference between good players and bad players. This year, so far, dribbling has a tiny skill gap, but not a big enough one to matter. Shooting has virtually no skill gap. Passing has a skill gap in terms of you can't just pass to someone who's got a defender in the lane, but you can get away with throwing full court passes with like a 65 pass acc and it will still get there more often than it should. Steals has virtually no skill gap because either everyone gets steals or no one gets steals, at least currently, etc. They said this 2K would have the largest skill gap, except now that's not the case.

Idk if it was just on pc but I feel like steals weren’t even bad after the patch that made it easy to steal. But I found that the bump steals weren’t really happening and that I only got ones that I timed correctly
