When a team fires both the head coach and the GM at the same time—especially with a winning record and a generational player like Jokic—it usually means ownership wasn’t aligned with the direction those two were taking the franchise. Maybe there was tension between Booth and Malone over how to build the roster, how to use the younger players, or what the team needed to stay in championship contention. And if they couldn’t get on the same page, ownership might’ve just decided to wipe the slate clean altogether.

Honestly, it feels like ownership is trying to send a message—either they want a new culture, or they’re trying to grab control of the franchise’s vision before the window with Jokic starts to close. But it’s risky. When you have a top-3 player in the world, stability matters. Now they’re heading into the playoffs with an interim coach, no GM, and a locker room probably full of questions.

It could light a fire under the team… or it could totally backfire. Either way, this is going to be one of the wildest playoff storylines. Jokic is gonna have to carry even more now.
