This would give the ability to archive cloaks you may need in the future. It would be handy to have options, for instance:
Turn off for:
1 day
1 week
1 month
1 year
Until I turn back on
With a custom selection, 2 weeks, 3 days, etc.
Or something like this.

I don't think so...? Let me know if I'm misunderstanding, but I believe identity muting is just that the identity is still open, but you don't see notifications.
What I'm envisioning is my idea working like a sort of activation/deactivation switch where when you don't want to use the profile for a while or if you're not sure if you can necessarily delete it yet this gives an option to mute it so that you don't get notifications BUT ALSO the sender will have their emails bounced back because the profile would be considered invalid on the sender's end. You want to reactivate it? Flip the switch!
TL;DR
My idea would work sort of like the current garbage can button where the profile is deleted. However, my idea for a the switch would just be to allow it to turn back on, NOT delete it.
