i tried keeping one but he didn't want meal worms and i let him outside cause he was hungee
I was a horrible little girl once who would lift up the tiles in this poor ladies garden and collect the lizards hiding under it and releasing them in my own backyard because I wanted to build a lizard army
.......until I got rightfully told off for lifting the tiles of this ladies garden constantly by her
aww hahahaha but that's cute
i used to make bird nests with my friends in elementary. but then i learned that they wouldnt' use it because human smells
A bit worse than when my neighbour (an adult woman) challenged me to find as much ladybugs as I could to put on her lavender that got infested with mites or something
we have rainworms xD
at least that helped someone lol
but I did kind of wander into neighbours front yards to pick up ladybugs of their fences n stuff
we have a litlle pond in our garden, with some small lizards
ooo
wish I had something like that
I see them occassionally because our yard is next ot the river
its just like a plastic pod lowered in the ground
but we kinda wanna have a pond too, so its a plan for when we buy ahouse
but we have a lot of gravel withspread out plant borders
so usually most I see are slugs
the most important are places for all the veggies
we do have a fountain though
and a greenhouse and some fruit trees
still need to do the inside of the greenhouse now, it just got build
we got some berry planters for this year
but its all not perfect, because the garden is 5 minutes from the house,
thats why we looking for ahouse with garden
ohhh so pretty!!!
unfortunately our soil is like, full clay
same xDD
so either we have to dig and fill with dirt, or do raised planters inside the greenhouse
dnaiels dad always brings sheep poo and stuff to make the ground nice
we are thinking of building our own raised planters inside
xD
sort of like this idea
boyfriend likes the idea of doing tiles between them, but he wants to save up to get uh, composite/full plastic planks that last longer
me: oh a greenhouse would be cute
boyfriend: how can I make this greenhouse be the most durable stuff you've ever seen-
xD
nice
luckily i only say what i want and than its gonne be made and i have to do nothing
the issue with clay in our garden is that if you dig like, 20cm- the clay is so tough you can basically use it as rocks to pelt someones head like a medieval peasant
for our trees that is why we made holes that are 1 metre deep with a drill
but thats fun to do xD
lolol, I have to help because I can't sit and leave my boyfriend to do everything by himself
I do like helping but I hate the planning of what plants go where, which borders go where, what tiles to buy, when can we buy what- which stores do we go to? etc
luckily my boyfriend is a good planner- and I am just a creative thinker
......still felt betrayed when he made me do the placement of some random assortiments of plants on my own because he also hated thinking about that
speaking off this is how I plan to eventually keep track of what we even planted in the backyard
most left = plant name + border name
second left = position in border
3rd left = amount of plants
4th left = soil type
neem oil is perfect. though i poured garlic powder all over my soil and got rid of them once or twice, which worked after a few weeks of treatment.
unfortunately gnats are common in bathroom drains too if they're not periodically cleaned out (you can use a bio/enzyme drain cleaner if you want to avoid chemicals), and with a low lighting, the bathroom might not be the place for them. but they could thrive once you get rid of the pests.
sometimes plants need repotting into something slightly bigger too, to accommodate their growth. can you see roots folding up the insides? not always easy to tell in pots that have no drainage.
I can check the roots, but both are still smaller plants we bought with the idea to make them last longer - they did not grow much since
the drains rinse is also a good point
if they havent grown much, they maybe could be in a pot to big, because focus on root grow if they have the space in the pozt
speaking of roots, we have an aloe that has gotten a ton of babies- we can split the small aloe in other pots right?
it's a problem i had with one of my indoor plants till i realised they were coming from the kitchen sink; I'm currently in a very old house, so needs more flushing than usual. :<
yes absolutely!
I repotted lots of little aloes from big mumma aloe over the years.
excuse me
no
oh that was me, I uh, accidentally tried to send a message with a bad word in front of "ton of babies [of the aloe]" as a way to make the ton of baby plants a big number
yeah i saw the message haha :D
haha.
xD
whoopsie. ☺️
i was just like: wow, intense talk in the gardening channel XD
its intense gardening xD
lesson learned- I picked up bad habits from working a male dominated field in automation......someitmes
tbf mushrooms grow in that intensity.
yeah dont worry! :D
I will make up for it with this pic of our blossom tree
it is blossom season and flowers are pretty
Woooahh soooo pretty!
sadly some are already falling out- the tree will soon just grow leaves probably, it's a young tree so there's not many branches yet
ohmigosh that's gorgeous. blossom trees are a fave. I have a flowering quince~
mine was just sticks in winter and is leafing again in autumn. I didn't know if it was dead till it came back to life.
had to look that up and that is an interesting fruit? if google is correct that it is some sort of pear thing
it's a little bitty citrus.
we have a plum tree I need to take a photo of, it has exploded in flowers over the past week too
our cherry is also in blossing season now, but they are small
though mine is a Chinese flowering quince (chaenomeles) so not a real quince.
ahh
gorgeous. I'm a huge fan of stone fruit trees! cherries, peaches, etc.
it gives little fruits though, kinda like small apples ig? bitter but good for preserves, coincidentally similar to real quinces, prob why it was misnamed.
maybe like a pear too actually idk. ☺️
my chaenomeles flowering as a baby, and just before they dropped off.
(third pic has a pretty moth that are drawn to the blossoms) 🩷
I want a peach too but I need a more permanent home. ;o; we're new to this region and renting.
ohhh thats pretty
I can't wait till it flowers again but it has foliage so might be a while. it was leggy when I bought it so probably still recovering from the pruning (and our cold winter). :>
i m so excited for when oustide everything i sgreen again
the high altitude country town i moved to has distinct seasons. we're going into autumn now -- my favourite! -- soon everything will be stunning golds, oranges, and reds.
but tbh spring here was so exciting and I'm looking forward to it again. everyone here grows roses, jasmine hedges, and blossom trees, it's like flower heaven.
it so weird with the upside down seasons xD
but i love autumn too
i just hate winter
Oh so pretty ❤️😍
Received my bonsai Wisteria from Japan the other day! It's already grown so many leaves!
OMG that's going to be sooo pretty!
I can't waittttttt ❤️
The pot looks so funny too
Haha it's a random glass pot for I think air plants~ however because this bonsai is planted in the kokedama style it's fine xP
Haha maybe one day I'll try to make a kokedama
I love the idea that it's basically self sustaining because of the moss, just keep it moist
i thought about doing it in the server with people... maybe in the summer
That would be fun~
yeah XD
like provide materials a month in advance so people who want to partake can get what htey need and then stream it
like a learn with me kinda thing
Man and here i thought youd fly us to usa in summer
Sai so ballin' she paying for all our tickets? xD (jking)
I forgot to take a photo of the plum tree blooming..... going to ask my boyfriend if he did take pictures over the weekend and if he can send some
wisteria are some of my favourite plants ever, I love them when they're used as a foliage roof/pergola ... that said I was totally unaware they can be bonsai too- amazing
We planted one at a pergola too- we bought it as just a long stick and it is so whack how nature is like: oh you give me water and sunlight? I will manifest tiny leaves in one week
Plants truly re wonderous things
I rolled my own kokedama from an orchid, to try and save it when it was dying (we had gone on holiday in mid summer and forgot to arrange watering).
it didn't survive but I bought a replacement moth orchid to kokedama instead. rolling the dirt and wrapping it would be much easier with moss sheets than the clumps I manually placed around. my awkward method without sheets was basically just keep slapping and wrapping, and it finally took shape. 😂
I used a dirt ball centre within its roots, with a bit of perlite mixed into the dirt for aeration, and the sphagnum moss layered up around the little ball with twine to keep it secured as i went -- in the vague shape of a round thing, and worried about making it more of a ball shape later.
some people leave a wick hanging through the centre for watering directly into the root ball, but i just went with the method of soaking the whole ball. i might try wicking my second one (can prob just cut it off and soak instead if it's not working out).
woah thats cool! i don't think I have to patience to make my own but that sounds like quite an adventure you had
😮
omg guys i need to share!! :O
Soo i am not that much into gardening because my plants died all the time. Last week i repotted my plants for the first time and one of the Pplants had a baby plant growing on it (offshoot or what is it called?) and i was thinking what if i could keep that alive, try to grow some roots and plant it, too?
WELL HERE IT IS
Loooooook
Woooo plant fever got you good
Ahhh okay i see. Thank you! :D
It takes up to 2-4 weeks for me, but I am a person who tends to leave them a long time in water, I have a few that are rooting for half a year😆
Yay Lu!!!!!
Also, I'm the same; will forget and leave plants in water for almost forever
Ohhh okay, thank you! :D
I did it :D
I remembered to take a pic of our currently blooming plum and maybe pear trees? Not sure which order we planted tjem in
Also the camelias my boyfriends parents decided to put under the uh glass ? Attachment? Of the house? Are blooming
Oh very pretty!
that garden layout looks stunning!
Thanks! We've been building it since december/januari
2 weeks of holiday + all weekends almost
Though the big tiles and statues were placed by a company
whoa, cant wait to see it with everything blooming! c:
Well, I have a few news... I killed every Sprouce
😆
Buuuuut, my Chinensis Cercis is looking very good (sadly she is my only survivor, but I have all my hopes and prayers in her!!!) she now has 8 little leaves!!! And seems very happy:)
Also, I had a bonsai (Polyscias guilfoylei) which I had cutted earlier this year, I put the cuttings in water and 3 started to sprout! 🌱
The little roots
My cercis
oof
3d printed pot
Very cool pot !
I love the colour too, is it me or does the filament have little grey spots
Yes, it’s a Marmor style filament
Lazy me was watering the hydrangeas with the wrong ph, so she lost the lilac. Gonna give her the right water with a ph between 4.5-5.5 for the blue ones, gonna give updates how long it takes for the lilac to come back
Saved some more plants
Your plants look so happy ~ even with the wrong PH water
Yes, finally trying one xD
Yes mine are feeling really comfy, the two from my boyfriend idk, I tried to save one with cuttings, but they also don’t look good
oooo that explains the hydrangeas at my old place, which were this colour. kinda lovely knowing you can bring out their best!
If there are unusual things, like now the Colorfading, I take a pic and ask chat got what’s wrong, and than it gives a full instruction what to do
true. ^-^
Alive since December, I am proud

Got a new plant friend! Repotted it
Also repotted some other plants that needed it
And then...LOOK HOW BIG THESE BASIL LEAVES ARE WOAHHHH
Just noticed the hobbies section of this server and had to share my home office jungle 🙂
HOLY BASIL ~ i just started growing my own basil a bit ago and looking at this makes me happy and hopeful! Glad to see yours looking so wonderful! 💚
More updates on the basil!!!
Its getting tallllll!!! The leaves look much bigger too! Its thrivinggggg 😭 💚
mine don't usually grow that large but i also don't take good care of mine. i need to refresh again. also i end up with too much basil and get overwhelmed and then let it die off cause i dont' know what to do with it
That's fair, maybe I'll make some pesto with mine
yeah pesto is good!
but i dont' wanna eat pesto all day every day XD
i think i need to make friends to give stuff like that to
that's the solution
Haha that is always the way
Probably will have to give some basil away as this monster grows
you could dry some out with a safe method if there's too much. basil tastes great in most Italian cooking. idk if you eat these things, but rissoles/ meatballs (incl. their vegetarian versions), pastas, pizzas, etc, as well as sometimes mixed into a roast beef rub.
otherwise I think it makes a great gift for some who uses it.
I agree with Manaril! Im addicted to pesto honestly so i could eat it every day but if youre not an addict like me yes pizza and meatballs are what i think of adding basil to too! Also could add as a little garnish to your drink!^^
Our hydrotowee is running since some days. With some tomato’s
Oooouuuu! Curious how the yield will be!
Annnnd carrots and stuff are growing
OOO carrots!
They are small tiny round carrots so you can plant them at home easily without needing 50cm or more depth
Hmmm i might look into growing some. Love that your carrots are peeking! 🧡
Me too! I didn't realise you could grow smol carrot
micro carrots! they're used in fancy schmancy restaurants all the time
Oooooo
Good to know! Gotta get myself some mini carrots and regulars 😭
They are called „Pariser Markt“ here in Germany
They have more the shape of radish
Wait radish shaped carrots? No wayyyyyy. I had to google more about them. The fact theyre sweeter sounds so uniquely good. 😭 thank you for this information! Thats so cool!
You can look into all kinds of dwarf plants. They are made for at home so they don’t take away much space, we also have dwarf tomato’s
A supermarket chain has some cheap beauties
yeah, i shop there too sometimes! they have some biggies, just got a lily from there today
I know I need to repot her...but I am to lazy today so tomorrow it is 🦥
I read report and was so confused why you need to report a plant xD
Lol its the FPI 😭
Put them in there new „home“
Found this on TikTok, imagine with hanging plants, histeria and ivy
That looks so sweet!
I'm actually working on something similar for my loft wall! Still very much in progress but the goal is for it to start at the bottom and go all the way up to the peak of the house eventually 🤞
Current progress (we've got a long way to go, I know, but that's just an excuse for more plants, right?). I've got a nice big Florida Ghost in my quarantine cabinet right now that's going to go between the Gloriosum and mini monstera (trying to make that a whole faux plant wall to hide the TV wires and blend into the plants up top) so those look a little awkward right now. Then I got a bunch of hooks and some string I'm planning on wiring across the top section to give the top ones a ladder to climb up when they're ready
Never thought of using a plant wall to hide your TV wires. Looks great!^^
To be fair the mini monstera was really the one that had that idea 😂 I just had it sitting on the TV stand (because you know how it is for plant people, any available flat surface= plant space) and when it outgrew the moss pole it kept leaning towards the wall and finally I was like oh hey... That looks nicer than the wires... So I got some sticky plant clips for support and just have to keep an eye on it for aerial roots because it's tried rooting into the wall a few times on me. Couldn't do a real plant wall with the drip irrigation and all that because of the electronics of course but this should work well enough
Ahhhh gotta love the monsteras for starting the idea! At least its close to a plant wall! It really works!
Also yes i second flat surface = plant space. Its like every window and flat surface has to have a plant. Its like if there is room then we will make it work! 🤣
I love how some plants just have a mind of their own 🤣 I just had to get some new sturdier support poles for my standard deliciosa because it kept snapping all the moss poles I gave it in half, it's so crazy
This was halfway through the process of switching out the supports. He's my big guy, the green poles in there are 6 ft
he's thriving, don't get in his way haha.
Oh my gosh your deliciosa looks so good! He def wants to keep going. Love it!@ 💚 mine is just a wee baby. Its only 1 foot lol
...or else... 🤣 He seriously snapped at least 3 or 4 sets of moss poles before I gave up
Thank you! I feel like they're one of those plants that once they decide to start growing they just absolutely take off. This one was already decently big when I got it, it was rehomed from my mom's friend so he's just kept going since the day I got him. My albo monstera though didn't grow for the first probably 9 months after I got it and then for the last few months I don't think it's gone more than a few weeks between new leaves finishing coming in and the next one starting.
Do you have your little guy on a moss pole or support already? I just remembered how hard that part was with mine because the person that had him before didn't get him used to a support from the beginning and when I say it was a fight to get him onto one when I repotted so he wasn't splayed out all over the place I mean it was a fight 😂
Oooh you got a monstera family! Thats so cute! Have you been looking to add more types? I only got the swiss cheese one? Forgot the actual name but its recognized as the swiss cheese of monstera. XP my little one is just supported by chopsticks at the moment and smaller pots that help its branches but i am looking into a moss pole. I never realized how beneficial they can be compared to a chopstick and some wire. D: did yours just kept growing and sprouting everywhere? 😆
I fully admit I've got kind of an insane amount of plants so I've got a whole bunch of monsteras 😅 Three varieties of deliciosa (the big standard one, the albo, and a tiny Thai con that I annoyingly got right before the bubble burst on those ones), a narrow form and a wide form adansonii/Swiss cheese, and an obliqua Peru. That one's such a weirdo, and my first ever "wish list" plant I got to check off so I love it when though it's a finicky jerk. I'd love to get some more but all the ones I see and love aren't in the budget at the moment, hopefully they'll come down in price eventually but some of them are just crazy. There's this rare plant store somewhat in my area that I stop by whenever I can, I an't afford like 90% of their stuff but they have the coolest varieties and the last time I went in they had a couple buckets of mystery cuttings from their different mother plants or the ones on their big plant wall that just needed to be trimmed back. Weirdest behave propagation I've ever had, it kept faking me out making me think it was going to give me a leaf so I could figure out what it was and then from the new shoot emerged...another new shoot. But this time it's clearly a new leaf coming in so maybe that'll be a new fancy monstera 😂
As long as you've got something kind of keeping yours all together that's the big thing, this was mine when my parents first brought it home from my mom's friend's house. Still gorgeous but just kind of splaying out so it wasn't protected as much from doggos walking by so he really needed to be given some support, but he definitely was not happy about it to start 😂
amazing!
Thats a pretty collection!! Youre lucky to have one of those shops near you. Sounds like you got a fancy attitude-like monstera on your hands. Its like it doesnt want to grow out and chooses when it wants to. At least its thriving!
Lollll doggo is like what is this mess. It looks so splaued our but at least its growing and thriving! Its like it wants to go east and west rather than up. A cute mess. 😂
The real problem (for my wallet) for a while was having a regular plant store like right across the street 😅 the rare plant store is like a 30-40 minute drive so it's not a place I go to unless I'm downtown for something anyway and I can't afford much in there even if I could (no joke, I've seen things from that store go for over $10K). The one that was across the street from me for a while though the owner of course got to know me so whenever she got something new in that she knew I'd like she'd send me a message like "just got these in...put one aside for you?" And every time it was like dang it...yeah obviously I need one 😂
I got two more new plant friends!
why are our calatheas so
we have 2 thriving calatheas but one pot we tried 2 different ones and both died
its a pot next to a 1.5 year old calathea
same light and soil
why
Holyyyy $10k?!?!?! They must be absolutely gorgeous. The most i have seen was $5k before for one of the fancy stores i like downtown too. Its far for me but ugh visiting makes me go should i? Most of the time even though my biggest fear is buying a nice one thats reasonably priced and ir dies.
is there a specific one youve been eyeing?
Im so sorry. Sounds like one was picky and one was happy. 😭 plants do be like that. I never understand either lol
Rest in peace calathea. It's sometimes hard to figure out what happened to plant.... Even if it's the same type of plant...
Same here with being scared it won't make it, I could never spend so much just in case it didn't make it 😬 my albo monstera was the most I've ever risked spending on a plant and I accidentally put it in a spot it got too much sun in for a few hours and did so much damage. Thank goodness I ended up being able to save it but after that I'm like heck no to the more rare ones. The rare plant store by me has a whole tissue culture lab division too so I've been eyeing a Carmel Marble TC baby. I could never splurge as much as the big ones of that plant cost but I hadn't tried acclimating tissue culture plantlets before so I decided to try it with some less expensive ones first to see if I can handle it without killing them 😅
I'm still absolutely terrified of calathea for this reason. I've seen so many stories of ones with no changes or anything just being like well I'm sick of living so... Not ready to subject myself to that drama 😂
Got some new outdoor babies
ooo lavenderrrrr
yessss
I forgot to take a pic but we planted a yucca filamentosa in the yard that has a pretty pink/red colour in it - the plant breeder didn't really know why some do get the colour though
this is a google pic
but I wonder how some of this plant are more likely to go pink for no reason
I wonder if it will fade
I wonder if it's similar to the red inside some venus fly traps, which is a combination of genetics and exposure to natural sunlight.
That'd be my guess too. I know you can sun stress a lot of plants to get more variegation. Or this lady who works at one of my favorite local nurseries recently told me about how some sellers put plants in ethylene chambers to induce color changes (and then of course new growth doesn't have those colors because they're not a natural occurrence so that's a fun thing I didn't know to look out for before 🙃)
All those new leafs
Also the alocasia
They are in their little glass house
i'm sure they're very happy in there
dumb question is the pink stuff fertiliser?
I only have tried the liquid stuff like pokon before that looks like soy sauce and smells very distinct
if it is fertilizer, does it work well and does it smell more pleasant than liquid
The pink stuff are Predatory mites xD
oh
We had some issues with insects, so we got some hungry enemies to eat them
speaking off- a butterfly bush we have in our yard is crawling with ants- first I was worried but apparently it is because the bush has lice? and the ants eat them
so I guess that is good
I love ladybugs
when I was a kid my neighbour once asked me to collect ladybugs for her lavender that was beign plagued by something
You can watch them turn into ladybugs, Daniel has videos of it. They were on his balcony
Wait I can show you
my aunt send me a pic of her wisteria btw, I am so jealous- I hope ours will grow that big one day (still a little sapling)
Ohhh I love wisteria
wait I have actually seen them before
I m jealous of that wisteria too xD
the other day on facebook I saw a pic of some lady who had a pink? one and her neighbour a white one and they basically agreed to let the different coloured wisteria intertwine over their fence
personally my boyfriend is attracted to more colourful or patterned flowers so we have this one:
Ohhh that’s also pretty
floribunda lawrence?
I hope it will turn out as pretty as the photos
but sadly wisteria need a few years till they bloom
My boyfriend alone cares about veggies and stuff, I just have to say what I want and he also plants me the flowers xD
my boyfriend loves mediterian or exotic plants + bright pinks and reds usually
im more of a pastels girlie
but when picking houseplants I do try to find something colourful if I can, because I know he cares
luckily we are on the same line with that we both don't really like yellow or orange flowers as much
veggies rule, which ones do you have?
40 tomato’s already in the garden planted( don’t ask why 40) than we have some dwarf tomato’s for the balcony, peppers, cucumbers, melons, chili, strawberries, raspberries, sweet potato, onion, garlic, salade, and I think more
Broccoli
ooooooooooo
do you have different tomato breeds?
also is there any veggie you'd recommend for a more swallow bed? a lot of those raised beds are only like, 20cm deep
Yes, all kinds, black ones, big ones, small etc
Look for all kinds of dwarf version, they make different shaped ones so they fit into shallow beds
my mom has been reading about heirloom tomatos, but is afraid to try them as they're weaker apparenlty
ohh
We have dwarf carrots, they are called Pariser Markt
They have like onion sized carrots and are perfect for on the balcony
oo
Best plant rn in our house growth wise
Hasn't even been a year yet (sorry had to delete prev pic bc the logo of my boyfriends job was on a equipment case)
The doxxing is real 😂😂
The plant looks gorgeous!!!
I forgot the actual name but it's also known as the oriental tiger plant!
Side note, this one does well in indirect lighting but does anyone know a good hanging plant for direct light? Would love to eventually hang one in front of our front window (also the most sunlight side)
We added some cactus to our plants, since all the other ones are now in the garden we need indoor plants for the windows in the living room that are fine with a lot of light and direct light
Our basil, carrot, and cilantro are finally sprouting up!
ahh i still want a bobbely hanging plant, but i cant find it here
my plants look whack after 2 weeks no love from me 😅
Gotta keep those eyes peeled!
and my platinum simply died on me. i think thats a sign that I am not meant to keep alocasia platinums cause its the second time it died of root rot and its actually never happend with any other plant for me
still have to dig into her to see if there are at least some corms 😅
Fingers crossed
its just weird that my other alocasias are fine but platinum is just like nope. i think it might be also the nursery doing some odd things to them idk 😅
but maybe its also just me lol
weridly, all my plants dont like it with that much light, even tho everywhere its written, a lot of light, no direct sun
but like, they sit in the shade xD
actuallly i am scared light was maybe an issue
idk how intense bulbs are but my alexa by accident activated my living room light...and idk when exactly during the 2 weeks i was gone 😅
Alexa is sabotaging you!
maybe also me for adding this routine to alexa 😅
i think a fan fell down in my greenhouse and that is what alexa sensed as movement to activate the light 😭
The classic self sabotage
thought i was scaring away unauthorized people
instead might have killed my budget and my plant
Oof
what are these 2? if I may ask, they're both pretty!
We are changing some plants into the second hydro tower, look at the roots
The one in front is a Hoya "Crimson Queen"
The one behind it is a Boat Lilly plant 😄
Wowowowowow those are great roots!
lovely lighting, they're looking very healthy. I have a string of pearls too, it's one of my favourites.
Yay another string of pearls lover!
❤️ 😄 planning to plant the purple and white one in the same planter for outside. The orange one will get its own 😛
Does everyone else have that one plant that you just can't get over how pretty it is to you? Every time I get up from my desk and walk by my Micans I got a few months ago I'm just obsessed with it still
those fuscias are lovely!
I only saw fuscias for the first time this year! I think my previous home was in the wrong climate for them. I bought one right away ofc. ^-^
(she's a little bare atm — in between flowerings and going into cold season)
fun fact, this pot didn't have a base in the shop so they let me pick a motley base from the ceramic pots out back. isn't it perfect? 🩷
that is an exceptionally gorgeous plant. 😍
my prettiest obsessions are my fuscia, snapdragons, pitcher plant (still a smol baby but very voluminous and healthy!), a variegated chain of hearts, cymbidium tracyanum orchid, my "pink icing" blueberry and "apple blossom" flowering quince trees, and my two bonsai (serissa and coastal rosemary).
I think I'm obsessed with a lot of my plants.
💚
I was in love with one of my succulents, the fattest, juiciest boi I've ever seen, but a snail 🐌 also thought so and ate it completely dead in two days. ;o; rip juicy boi.
Ohh I used to love snapdragons when I was younger. I randomly developed allergies to like... everything...in my 20's so unfortunately now I have to avoid anything that flowers as much as I can but they're still do pretty to look at ♥️♥️♥️
sorry to hear that, many of my family's immune issues, including mine, kicked in during adulthood too. afaik I'm ok with a few outdoor flowers, but most of my plants are leafy or other odd kinds so I've managed to avoid the seasonal triggers from them so far.
Ooooh your plants looks like it's getting a good start! I'm sure a lot of blooms will happen in a few weeks!
thanks, there's a handful coming through, but it's getting cold now so slowing down. it was abs chock full of blooms last month, I think about twenty at a time, in consistent cycles! but I forgot to take photos. ;A;
I'm looking forward to seeing it next spring.
in ~3 mth when I do a pre spring prune do you think I should bring those long/ leggy branches right in? normally I prune quite ruthlessly but the fuscia's long ones give it character so I'm on the fence.
Oh we must be in opposite hemispheres!
I particularly enjoy the kinda haphazard look to plants. Especially if your plant is established, then you don't have to worry too much about pruning to keep is bushy. Now pruning can be more about ✨ aesthetics ✨
ok sweet. 🩷
it does seem quite healthy so I think I'll go by feel but let it keep that personality it's rocking lol.
yes I'm in australia, in a high altitude country town w/ somewhat hot summers and near freezing winters. :3 quite different from the hot & humid coastal town I moved from, so my plants went through it this last year. I lost a few but most of them survived and even flourished. 👏
The cold snap definitely can be hard on some plants but I'm glad most of them came out okay!
It's so interesting how plants behave based on the seasons and temperature changes. I'm in Canada so my plants definitely get the winter blues 😅
it's definitely something I'm learning, now that I have real winters. before it was hot all the time.
it was certainly interesting seeing them go dormant. I got mixed opinions on my orchid and decided to keep it outdoors,c and it was fine. I thought my flowering quince died but it's apparently normal to turn into brown sticks and come back to life in spring lol! what a relief.
I may have lost my ornamental ginger bulbs though, they've never been dormant this long.. but I keep hoping.
Yeah dormancy can look real scary. Honestly my mom's garden looks like all the plants have died during winter.. and the moment spring hits it's a full green garden again... Makes for easy maintenance when it's spring time xP less work and money to keep planting plants. Perennials are amazing!
Did some retail therapy because I was sad
It was 20€🥲
Yeah they are quite expensive 😅
I dont know anymore for how much I got my tiny ones
But kleinanzeigen is sometimea nice for plants! Once you know their actual prices and know whats scam and what isnt xD
Kleinanzeige is messed up here, a lot of scams
I'm just glad they didn't kick in until adulthood so I didn't have to worry about them when I was younger and less easily reasoned with 😅 the only indoor plants I've run into issues with so far is Begonia. Can't be anywhere near those things for some reason
Ohh are you able to have rainbow eucalyptus where you're at or does it get too cold for that? I tried to grow one as a houseplant, got it a nice big dedicated grow light and everything for winter because everyone said it couldn't survive here and I thought that would make it work. But nope, everyone was right. I'd have my whole yard surrounded with them if I lived somewhere they could grow though
That's such a bargain compared to what they were only a year ago though, and yours looks like it's really beautifully variegated! I've been wanting to get one of those but I've struggled so much with alocasias I'm scared to splurge on one, they're closed to $40-50 in my area
Plant retail therapy is the best~~~
Plant retail therapy is always best. You get to bring a baby plant home or rehome a plant that is in need of a home. 💚
the rainbow eucalyptus likes warm and humid climate but not too hot when growing. ig technically you could grow one in my previous coastal town though the summers approach, and sometimes breech, 40C there. I've never heard of anyone growing them here though so idk.
we have many eucalypts and gums endemic to aus, but rainbow isn't one of them. people would probably be careful not to introduce it as a pest. I'm not sure it's technically one, and might be allowed, but its rots and diseases could affect our own gums which make up the bulk of many of our national forests.
where I am now, are more pine and blossom trees and other species, as it gets below freezing some winters and might snow every few years. it gets hot in summer, but not boiling and humid like the coast. there are prob gums, but I don't notice them as much. the trees here seem very old and established, though they have to replant some pines in the national pine forest after drought or fires.
I think people are careful here when it comes to tree planting. much of aus has trees already.
someone might grow that particular tree on their private property idk. we tend to be careful about not introducing pests to our forests. lots of fruit trees and natives, bushes and shrubs for fun, as they're relatively harmless.
In my mind that whole continent just seems toasty but I'm pretty far North so most places do by comparison 🙃 I'd absolutely melt in 40C, no way could I handle that kind of heat. For some reason I just assumed the rainbow coloring was just a mutation of a standard eucalyptus tree, like variegation so I thought it would be everywhere eucalyptus grows.
oic, that's one of the rare eucalypts which is endemic to the northern hemi! we have our own that look just like it though. many pretty species. i like the paperbark too, it peels back during growth.
one native we grew here when I was a child is the acacia (or we also call it the wattle tree). they're smaller but so pretty~
their flowers ^
The one I tried growing as a houseplant didn't make it long enough to get the rainbow coloring but I'm hoping one day I'll get to see them in person (eventually)
our was just a small, young tree. when very old they gey pretty gnarly shapes. almost like a large bonsai.
So cute with the little fluffs
ou yes. they grow like 70m tall. it might take a good chunk of your lifetime to see one finish growing. but it might establish colours sooner ig. i don't know that one particularly.
I hope you get to see a pretty eucalypt one day. 🩷
I looked into it before I tried and it said the colors developed after 2-3 years. I was hoping I could get it to that point and just keep it trimmed enough to stay in the house as long as I could but it didn't like the winters here at all even with the special grow light and everything
Ooo.
I love the white splotches on the second pic leaves, very valid to use retail purchases to make happiness. Hopefully the plants growing will also give you happiness
i always go in person and dont pay upfront so that helps
They sell a lot even more expensive down here, because people are crazy and weird
Spend the whole day reppoting to put all the babies in Substrat
I didn’t even know this was possible lol. But I noticed that one of my lilies got flowers. I am soooo proud 🥺❤️

Has anyone come across a pot that might do justice to this weirdo? My obliqua was the first "wish list plant" I ever was able to check off my list so I've been really particular about finding the perfect home for him but I just can't find the right one for what a weird dude he is 😂
If you enjoy seeing your weirdo's roots, maybe a glass one?
Or you can go for funky looking 3D printed ones!
Some examples of fun 3D printed ones
That's actually what I was thinking for a minute but I was struggling to find one that grabbed me on Etsy 🤔
Ahhh, yeah gotta keep looking....
Etsy can be so overwhelming with choices sometimes (and I say that as an Etsy seller so I probably shouldn't 😅)
Haha it's okay, I get it! Some independent stores also have 3D planters
not what you're looking for but this gave me a chuckle
This is amazing, if I wasn't terrible with low water plants I'd be getting a cactus just for that
LOL need this. Just face it out my window. 🤣
I think it could be great in an off-white tall or short urn shaped pot on its own light coloured stand. I couldn't find one so I drew it. xD
sometimes ceramic glazes have nice tones or features that might suit the plant.
I think I found it. Between all of your suggestions it made me think of trying to find like a crystal skull pot. I've seen skull ones but couldn't find a clear crystal one. But then I saw this one and thought it might be perfect 🤔
or something with reliefs or cutouts that compliment the leaves.
those are cool haha.
This would be super cool to give him his own stand but he has to live in my high-humidity plant cabinet or he throws an absolute fit 🙃
oh fair. yes their needs def trump appearance.
monstera is a great plant for ancient or old era themes, as it has a wild look.
Like before I got my plant cabinet he didn't give me a single new leaf for almost a year 😂 absolute diva of a plant, especially since I live off a lake so the humidity in my house is on the high side to start with but apparently not high enough for him
the skull idea is fab.
Agreed, obliquas look so crazy. I feel like that type of pot would also be really cool with a carnivorous plant but I'm too scared to get one of those 😅 I read something about having to feed them if there aren't enough bugs in the area for them to get on their own and noped right out of that idea
in not an expert on carnivorous plants but I do keep them; I have venus, pitcher, and sundew. there are much less flies and flying insects where I live now, so I placed mine near a flowering plant that attracts a few. they don't seem to need to consume that much tbh, it seems rare and pretty random I see the traps set off, but the plants are healthy.
they also produce their own scent? ig that attracts things. I've seen my venus catch an single ant.
look into this ofc but I don't see why you couldn't very lightly and rarely fertilise if they really were starving, though I've never had to.
but yes, the carnage is not for everyone.
it's funny but when I saw the skull pots my first though was that venus and sundew would look really cool in that.
oh yeah my venus noped a tiny snail that ig was going to try and eat it. that was actually a relief, it protected my other plants.
just found the little shell poking out the side. >>
There's definitely something very prehistoric about plants that eat things. It'd definitely be nice to have a plant guard dog but I'm too much of a softie, I'd be so sad seeing a snail in there I love those little guys
i was a bit sad too, i love all living things. but a snail once consumed my favourite plant to death in two days, so it's a double edged sword for me. def seems you prefer peaceful plants though hehe. 🩷
my plants are all outdoors, but some people keep the venus indoors inside a sunny window so it would only eat a fly or gnat which got inside~
Totally get that, I had a little snail family do some serious damage to my hostas last year. Luckily I'm not a huge fan of those plants anyway, they came with the house (the people that used to live here were more into the traditional American style yards with everything homogeneous and not worrying about what's actually natural for this area) so I was like you know what guys, they could use some thinning out anyway go nuts 😂
That's the other big thing, mine are all indoor plants since my area isn't super warm. Plus I'm allergic to like everything in my area so bringing plants that couldn't grow outdoors here kind of helps me get around that issue
I've always loved the idea of planting native local plants and grasses if i had a space of land, to let the local bird and insect life flourish.
ah yeah. @o@
I've been trying to get my yard to where we can get some more native plants going but the ones that the previous home owners put in are resilient little jerks that keep coming back whether I want them to or not 😅
Just got back from probably my last Jo Ann Fabrics trip 😭 silver lining is plant pots are finally marked down 70% so if your location is still open it's a good time to stock up 🙂
https://www.reddit.com/r/houseplants/comments/1kqfbz1/my_string_of_pearls_and_this_doll_head_make_a/ reddit is reading my conversations /j
could this be a plant pot idea? /j
I swear discord does that sometimes lol. I actually placed an order for the T-Rex skull one yesterday 🥳 I think it'll be perfect
Couldn't stop myself to buy a new plant
Think of it as a rescue mission hahahaha
XD
Idk what’s happening, but my new plants from Dehner are struggling ://
What are they doing
The had some lice/milbes after I repotted them
I think the frydek is doing better now already growing a new leaf
But the caladium is letting all leaves hang, and also dry. Had some milbes or so too. I cut off the destroyed leaves
ChatGPT said overwatered, but that can’t be I also felt the substrate
The milbes where sitting at the bottom directly over the roots
After I killed or the nursery killed my caladiums I repotted them and they quickly recovered. They seemed so easy compared to all other plants lol
Yuuck
I sprayed it, now let’s see. Maybe I have to cut it back completely
I hope it survives my vacay xD
Honestly as quick as they grow back id just cut them cD
Yap it already has some new leaves xD
And my one cactus als has milbes :/
But only one of them the others are fine
Awhh so petty and colorful
Your response was so fast 👀
Thank you!!! Hopefully the poppies and foxgloves grow nice and strong... They might be a next year bloom though
I also finished watering my plants with anti gnat water (it's a mosquito bit tea I make)... unfortunately I got busy so my gnat water sat for too long... Still effective but smells horrible
😵💫
🙈 🙈 was just about to ask if its better than neem oil
I have such a gnats and thirps problem 😭 gnats normal plants and thirps in my humidity box. I actually need to finallx get them out since they grew too bix for the box but dont want to release the thirps into my home
I'd say I get better results with the mosquito bit water. But the smell of neem oil is definitely nicer LOL
I hate neem oil. Gag reflex activated each time
And i smelled rat organs
Without an issue
My mosquito bit water honestly smells like the worst farts
Slightly scared ut could make it worse
Soooo xD
XD
Honestly peppermint oil masked the neem smell pretty well
Everytime I water with my gnat water..and it's not fresh (max an hr steeping).... I have to air out the living room. It just smells like I farted all day 😅
I've never had a bad thirp problem... But unfortunately you might have to change the soil...
For pests I use an organic soap
I loved the lemon eucalyptus oil from here when I could get it from my favorite plant store- https://www.rootedplantco.com/all-natural-neem-oil-spray?srsltid=AfmBOop-dk-f5X4DVL5cwVkn9g-LTC8dA9PAaFCFqMMVfF86c8gX-pWl
Since I've lost my dang mind and gotten way too many plants now and I like to do regular preventative sprays, I've switched to buying in bulk with Captain Jack's dead bug brew concentrate though 😅
Lolol honestly I should be doing more maintenance spraying
With over 40 plants.. not including the outdoor ones 😅
This one is good too! @halcyon meteor I know you can't get it buuut I took a picture of the ingredients list. They seem to have tea tree oil, which also masks the neem oil smell well.. I sniffed and didn't smell neem much at all
I had a thrips scare last year and having to do the whole shower and intense spraying thing for over 60 of them was so much work I've been super paranoid about it since then 😅 turns out it was actually edema damage and not thrips at all but I now do the regular preventative spraying and have one of those Ikea cabinet set ups for new plant quarantines
Its annoying coz I sprayed and dunk washed the humidity box a few times now and there are still live ones
I even used an insecticide now
Ah that's annoying
We tired them, stuff was gone, but now we have issues again
They are coming from outside when you have the windows open

i heard nematodes work pretty well too..
i'm just horrible at making sure they stay moist and so my nematodes always die...
oops
Trying to save a fern my parents nearly killed, fingers crossed
good luck! i believe in you and your fern!
Thanks!
So amazed to realize she has blooms
oh they look so cute
Yeesww
Ohh sooo gorgeous! I tried to grow one of these guys but turns out I'm horribly allergic to all begonia 😅
OH SHOOT NO
Oh no!!
Luckily the one I got the seller shipped it with absolutely soaked soil so the root rot ended up being too along to save it anyway because I know I would have been stubborn and tried to keep it in the house even though with the little tiny one I had was like...head-to-toe hives just from sitting next to it for one work day 🙃
i mean thats super unfortunate either way.... the fact the seller basically soaked the poor plant to root rot and the fact that you were having any allergic reaction
True, but i love getting to see a nice big healthy one from afar now ♥️
How far is safe enough? XD
Honestly it was a pretty severe reaction so I'm scared to test it at this point 😅 the biggest issue would be getting it home in an enclosed car. Actually grabbed a medium sized polka dot one at the grocery store by my office for my coworker who had been wanting one thinking oh it's a 2 minute drive back to the office I'm sure it'll be fine. Nope. Enclosed space was a baaaad idea lol
Yikeeeees 😬
I guess very open, well ventilated spaces and looking from very far away
Or just from pictures to be safe 😅
Yeah best to just enjoy pictures from a safe distance so I love seeing your beautiful guy that much more
Slight hiccup with the "medium" sized T Rex skull planter I ordered for my obliqua 😂
That’s how the inside of our hydro towers looks like!
I've got another plant from my wishlist today!! An alocasia longiloba purple. Don't have a picture right now, but it was really funny. I was scrolling through my instagram page and saw my nursery having this plant which I never thought they would. And I was up within a second to get it
It's so dangerous having a good place like that nearby 😂 There was a plant store not even half a mile down the street from me for a few years and it got to the point where the owner knew me so well she'd send me a message whenever she got one she knew I was going to want in to check if she should put one aside for me
Thats amazing though xD! Yeah I don't think they will ever know me as it is still a bit of a bigger company, but yeah I can basically see it out of my windiw, that close xD. Gonna move soon and so that was amazing that I coukd get this plant now. They never had it, I never thought I'd get it there.
My oxalis is flowering~~~ yay!
Also this velvet plant is so bushy now... It was literally 3 sticks for the longest time
I got myself a orchid because I really wanted to try it out and it was 2€ xD
Before and after 👀
i’ve been having a rough time mentally but i always take comfort knowing this beauty doesn’t give up on me

I've restarted my aerogarden in my kitchen again.... this time it's just green onion and cilantro. maybe i'll keep up with it this time
Sounds like some good ones to keep in the garden and very useful for daily cooking
yeah both can go into congee or tacos
Maybe I should grow some green onions, always finding I'm running out
They’re so good! The onion taste but more delicate
I think this is a moth orchid. 🩷
Lavie saying good morning~
she always wakes and stretch walks straight to the plant, which contains cat grass, catnip, and cat mint.
Idk what the leaves are doing but spotted a cool bush on holiday in the Czech Republic
It's not loading 😭
Apparently it is some sort of climbing kiwi bush
Actinidia kolomikta
The leaves are green with red edges on younger ones and from age 2 and over they can turn white and even pink
If you wanna see a fancy fruit, check out lime caviar fruits!
I don't own many plants as my home is really dark (hence the grow lights) but I managed to keep a few happy and my orchid is doing her best to flower again this year! Last pic is the plant hospital/graveyard which usually houses some of my mum's plants but is mostly mine atm
I've been living vicariously through this channel marvelling at all your wonderful green babies that I know wont survive my dungeon like conditions - thank you all for the posts!
My mother would like to show off the tomato she just got from her garden this year
Damn I bet that tastes amazing
I took some cactus parts from my bfs mom to try them out. And the other one is from my ex coworker and is already doing so good. Getting new Cactus parts
Love the cactus reaching out 😭 so cute honestly
found the pic from when we just planted
this was 2 months ago (time flies)
unfortunately it looks like one of the pieris japonica forest flames is developing black spots on its leaves so I am worried what the cause is
we planted all 3 the samw
same soil too
New plant found a home. I also ordered acrylic bins to store the substrate in and a 5 stories plant holder, and some wall clips so I can let they ivy’s grow over the wall
i think thats the plant currently dying on me xD
Oh no, hornbach does have them now if yours won’t survive
Also white green ones and green with pink dots
ah that sounds more like mine
but yeah idk xD if she wants to die it might be a sign
they can also get huuuge
I like huuuge
But I really like climbing so I wanna let my ivys climb the wall, and also maybe get a second adansonii which is gonna climb my walls
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma ("mini monstera") make AMAZING climbing plants too if you need more 🙂 only thing is you have to watch out for aerial roots trying to anchor into your drywall with those
Yes, I have that one on a mosspole, but I think I have to cut the one side because it’s like going left and right and that’s to much, so I ll make the cutting a climbing one
We don’t have drywalls here, so all good
But I really love the adansonii because of the holes in the leaves
I love my adansonii and am absolutely obsessed with my obliqua for the holes lol (in my defense, the obliqua was also the first "wish list" plant I was able to check off so it holds a special spot for me). I've got my adansonii on a trellis thing but the mini monstera I used as the first plant on my faux plant wall I'm building to cover up the TV wires and eventually I'm hoping they'll cover that whole wall area and it's going so crazy with growth
prettyyyy!
We got like, 8 big cucumbers today
We used 3 for pickles, and we might make another batch tomorrow! :D
There are also nice 30€ ones on Amazon with different platforms, so you don’t need to drill it in the wall xD
Considering to get sometjing like this
I t comes tomorrow I think I can tell you how it is!
Maybe in small for my window sill so i can stack them more
For the ikea karbäke or how that green house is called, there are acrylic stairs to put in
Good thing is this window doesn't open so i can truly fill it with plants xD
Wait let me search if I find it
like do you mean on etsy?
cause i saw that but i thought it was quite pricey
im looking for something so that i can have small plants closer to the light
did you mean akerbar?
ahh like that
true could get something like this
i was looking at these acrylic pegboards you could get
Ahh
I m thinking about if I should get akerbar, or should try out Daniel’s aquarium for planting
im considering getting the milsbo
Ah yeah I want that too if we gonna move out some day
Than I wanna make in my office a book for or and the Milsbo between
still need to see where I will put my plants
Got some plants that I m gonna let go over our walls
can be fixed xD, i got some clips that have clue on
Going to my favorite rare plant store downtown tomorrow...how fiscally irresponsible is too fiscally irresponsible?
XD
Id say dependents on how rare, how much you want it and how close you are living on the streets if you buy it
I always look if there are some discounted ones
That have like some destroyed leaves or so, because that’s easy to fix
Ive never been to a rare plant store
Not sure if we have one. A couple from my city (that I only know from IG) went to one but not sure if in our city or elsewhere.
This place has some that are like $20K so if I totally lost my mind and decided to try to swap one of those for like...my car the streets may be an option, definitely not going that crazy though
My favorite thing at this place is that they usually have mystery cuttings buckets from their mother plants when they're getting too big or their big plant wall trimmings for $10. Haven't gotten anything crazy rare from that yet but it's so fun to have to wait to see what I got
Deleted 🙂 I figured it'd be a crazy weird coincidence if someone happened to be able to figure out which store it was and camp out there all day to try to catch me (especially since I don't have a picture of myself up or anything)
Yeah we still don't want citys mentioned for safety reasons ^^ so anything bigger than that is alright. Or if it is not your hometown and you went for a visit and posted afterwards
My dad was so into my mystery cutting I got last time I went there so for Father's Day/Birthday gifts (his birthday was also this week), I got him some prop vases and told him he could pick out a few of his own there this weekend. So excited to try to drag him into the plant obsession
Haha idk if its just me but I really feel the plant hype spreading lately xD
Even i just started last winter
And my mom also got 2 plants out of it
I've been trying to get them into it for a few years now but my whole family thinks I'm just insane still 😅
More plants for you!
My mom was also weirded out when I started but just says as long as I am happy and you can still see some apartment next to the plants xD
I only started a few years ago, Ihonestly don't know what happened to me. I used to be so bad with them but then my vet office sent a condolences pothos when my Sammy passed away and I like had to keep that alive because of the emotional connection. Almost killed it, had to have a planty friend save it and teach me about over watering 😅 and then it started doing well so I got another...and another...and now I'm at like 60+ and I don't know how that happened
Nawj thats so cute
I think I still suck at keeping my plants happy 😅
But i like having them 😭
I got most of my affordable want plants off my list. But im so scared to mess them up, especially coz I live in a low light apartment still. When I move I hope they get a better chance
My latest one was a longiloba purple and i didnt think my local nursery would have it...so when they did I was there immediately to get it no mattwr the price xD
I'm so sad, somehow I managed to bump my phone and turn off some setting on the camera so most of the pictures I tried to take didn't turn out 😣 but at least the one of the plant wall they're in the process of re-doing turned out. Apparently they're in the process of getting ready to travel to some big plant convention next weekend so they didn't really have any mystery cuttings this time but I grabbed myself a little variegated frydek
Ohh that plant wall is beautiful!!
And lovely little plant!
I also can't resist them
But I just dont have the preferred light setting for them yet 😅
Honestly I feel like alocasias are just finicky jerks lol. I've had a variegated frydek in my cart so many times and always decided against it because they were so expensive and I'm like 50/50 on keeping alocasias happy so I hope I can manage with this little guy 🤞
Hope so for you too! The 2 out of 3 i am having are doing okay? I think? But i really need to get them more light xD. I feel like they got a bit less pricey i think. I got a relatively big one for 30 euros i think (while i got 2 small ones for 15 each lol)
I potted the small ones together . They are doing alright surprisingly but each new leaf has more yellow instead of white. The big one is fairly new so cant tell how she will do. She is getting a bit leggy on tje big leafs, constantly moving towards the light😅 😅
Although i chose a less white one. So that sje had better survival. It was odd to choose a less variegated one out of many that had lots of white parts xD
And you owe my melo her life now. Because when i got up to take pictures of the frydeks i realized my melo is dryyyy
Daaaang yeah I guess it's one of those plants that's super location dependant on pricing because I thought $40 was a really good price for the little one I got. I did the same thing with going for the less variegated one though because I've had issues with other alocasias so I figured better to make sure it's got that extra support. Yours are BEAUTIFUL though!
Now I'm even more mad the one picture I took didn't turn out. They had a couple of pink variegated cuperas I bet you would have loved to see 🙃
Yeah that's true. Also just pure luck xD last year some plants cost a lot more than this year. And vice versa. But thank you! I hope they stay with me 🙈 but yeah they are kinda my worry childs.
Ohh
Stupid setting really screwed it up but you can still kind of see them on the bottom there. That was one of the ones that was like the value of my car lol
Oh i can see some beautiful big pink spots though!
I have only seen some that had like speckles in pink as mint variegated do. The one you have seen looks much nicer to me!
I have a normal red cuprea and she was kinda the easiest plant to take care of ...maybe lets say easiest alocasia plant xD
Would be cool if the variegated were that easy too lol
I just had to double check the website because the girl said she thought they were priced at like $15-20K but only $6K (only 🤣)
Yeah some of their stuff is like a bit over priced for the area but honestly not usual super overpriced so it's probably one of those that just not a lot of sellers over here get
Also loved their absolutely massive Gloriosum and McDowell philos
Man i cant find it on their page so maybe i imagined xD but if i look only i def get them for less
Like a bit less than 100 euros for a baby plant
From two online sellers
PLNTS and foliage dreams well from those idk if they have stores but you could check if they ship abroad!
If i had a garden.....
Or like a massive greenhouse home
You know...I was thinking about planning a trip to Germany next year and now I'm thinking I might have to look into what it's like bringing plants through customs if I do that if they're that much cheaper overseas 😂
For real. It's too cold here for the to survive the winters outdoors but I would love it if my Gloriosum gets that big eventually. That's one of the plants I've got on my plant wall I've been trying to get going but we've got a long while before there's any chance of seeing that size
I love it, the leaves look like the softest velvety pillows even on my smaller one
I was sendinh something...was confused why its gone...realized i edited my message instead of replying to it😅 😅 😅
But yeah that
Could use it as a blanket for guests xD
Actually I know there's this one company that makes blankets that look like Gloriosum leaves and I'm always tempted by them (even though they wouldn't go with any room in my house lol)
This is the one I keep seeing, it's so cute and looks so cozy but it'd clash with every room in my house I think
It's so tempting 😂
I got my new storage yesterday and filled it today. But I probably gonna get two more for cocos chunks and perlite
thats nice! i use perlite so much and for nearly everything 😅 what are cocos chunks for?
Instead of soil, you can use cocos substrate. It’s better because there are now harmful insects in there. With normal soil you always get more milbs etc because the eggs are already in the soil🫠
So I switched to a selfmade substrate mix instead of soil
uh thanks, thats good to know!!!
Ughhhhhh
Where did you get the containers from?
Amazon!
I have to look because Daniel bought them from a different account, give me a sec
no rush :) thanks !

I think this one
they are really the perfect size!
if i had soil, would it be fine to store it on the balcony or would it get invested by whatever is flying by
Idk. We have soil on the balcony xD but it’s also not used really. But we also clip it closed
Some plants exploded from the little hand sized plants we hought
(mixed in with some others that were as big as we bought em)
Also placed some lights, though they're not plants
New leaves
How often do you need to refill?
depends on the plnats, but those in my vitrine get like maybe once a week smth
i have others that are thirsty and i fill up daily
I wouldn’t have recognized it 😂
Nawjj
I wanna get something for felix because he likes sunflowers
But he said he doesnt care 😂
Might do it anyways now that you reminded me
Your welcome!
XD but I think you should start soon so that they get enough time to grow
They need a lot
Nuhhh
I planted mine in the beginning of may
From a seed or tiny plant
XD
I never grew plants from seeds really. Except for a batch of alocasias
We always buy plants and ... plant them
Me neither. Only sunflowers XD
I had sunflowers two years ago. Those big ones, 2 meters high? Grow them from seeds and I was so proud
But because of the field behind the house there were so many bugs and birds and they destroyed them so bad
I was so sad. And you couldn’t do anything really against it. That’s why I didn’t had some last year
Lasse bought me some tiny sunflowers this year and makes sure they are being safe most of the time XD
the veggies we all plant from seeds, but we had a lot of issues this year, so we bought some cucumber plants
Nawh
We moved the robot so I can have a big plant corner
I still have 7 plants waiting for repot
I m exited for when the walls are bit covered by the ivy’s
Still alive since December, my chinensis cercis is the only survivor but is very happy at the moment
This calanthea was struggling since I got her, but she is backkk
Plant corner is coming together
i'll take one, thank you
takes one corner of the house...
is there a problem?
nope! i see no problem
XD
I kinda finished the plant corner
And I finally found a good spot for Herbert with the frydek
heeey
that would scare me at night XD
i like the idea that your plants get to watch tv with you
XD some of them watch tv and some watch me work
but all watching haha
less creepy head on vs the angle from the other pics
i finally watered my surviving plants after half a year XD
i want to clean up my plant closet and start buidling it back up again and actually care for my plants. i just forget or get busy
they stick around for a surprisingly long time despite my neglect
I don’t care about them that often. I just let them do
but you probably don't let them do for months at a time like me XD
No
I do check up once a week (so look at them if their are bad insects)
Watering I just pour in smth in the pot beneath when it’s empty xD
i fortunately don't get pests often. i go through periods where i consistently water and then drought season for a long time. this time i was like i need to start from scratch
or near scratch
it's winter here so most of my plants have gone into dormancy. it's been nice browsing the posts and images. ^^
with pain in my heart- I announce that I must move these forget me nots to my moms garden
these ones are more wild ones that are taking over all the other plants ;v;
Aweee forget me nots are so pretty, sad to see them go
Hate it when that happens but sometimes it has to
we still have a different kind
this one
but it blooms shorter than these
Who needs blooms with those leaves though 😍
Yeaah! I love the white veins
Anyone got experience with sybotanica? Is it worth it?
Anyone got experience with sybotanica? Is it worth it?
I saw a lot using it and wanna try it out too if mine goes empty
Imagine this from ikea to pot and hang plants^^
I've been wanting a shiverana ficus for a while but every time I came across one it didn't seem super healthy. Just dug through a whole bunch of rubies they had at Costco and found this one hiding so I had to grab it 🥳 nice big leaves and already about waist high
it's winter and I really shouldn't be buying more plants, but I couldn't resist this gorgeous
🪴 dichondra "silver falls"
🪴 fuscia "bella laura", of a gorgeous deep wine red and peach-pink, more subdued than my hot violet fuscia
🪴 asterolasia beckersii, cute little shrub with soft fuzzy leaves which will later bear little white star-shaped flowers ✨
took out the swamp forget me nots bc they were starting to grow over the rest o fthe plants
shame bc they were cute and gave lots of flowers
plus side, mom will take them over since she wants a more cottage wild garden
also realised we might have an issue in winter bc a lot of the plants my boyfriends dad picked out are not wintergreen- so currently it is looking like the bottom tier will only have the plant in the middle, mid tier will only have two small plants on the sides, and the bighas the palm like thing + two small chinese black pearls that are currently being overtaken by the big bushes with purple flowers
we will see
winters havent truly been winter
Im havent had the time to pay much attetion to jer lately. She used to have a mild thirps issue which seemed gone...but welp
So big and pretty though
Yeahh i really love it and wouldnt want to get rid of it just because of the thrips 😅
I threw away my calatheas today, because the made me super mad
😅
Never owned one for that reason
I heard people complaining about them a lot
But they are so prettyy
I got them pretty small, repotted them and they just did nothing, only making brown leaves. No growing or so. And today I was done with them
I was coming home today and looked at my sunflowers and found this:
I was so sad because I don’t know what happened (I give them water everyday) so I was worried they got too much water but the dirt was dry so I gave them more and hoped that the last day was just too warm and they just didn’t get enough water even though I made sure to give them some
This was 5 hours ago
This is now
Haha niceee
Im so sorry I though they died on me q.q
But yeah its very hot atm
My basil is doing that from time to time when I didnt water enough xD but as long as you water it then they recover
we had to leave early yesterday so it could be that i just forgot to water them yesterday (and it was really hot) so that might've been the issue
i just didnt know what happened because they looked to good yesterday
whoopsie
I am sooo glad i could safe them xD
Yeah and itd also very satisfying to watch
oh yeah, sunflowers are very fussy.
it's good you followed your instinct, I'm glad they recovered.
thank you, i am also happy! I was very frustrated at first :( I am very responsible with watering them but i think they just need even more.. xD
Ahhhh they look great again!!
what are they?
Sunflowers! If you scroll up a bit you can backread what I wrote yesterday. I thought they died 😭
i did see that convo! i was thinking they were your sunflowers but wasn't positive
they're happy!
Yes they are! I’m so glad they survived
i forget, are they going to be edible seeds or pretty sunflowers?
I don’t really know but I think only pretty. Lasse gifted them to me because those are my favorite flowers and I don’t know
I just like to look at them XD
do you still have the seed pack?
i think there are only a few varieties that make the edible seeds for humans
otherwise you could save the seeds for the birbs
No XD
I can let them stay as long as possible so they can get them
I did that with the last ones, too
They were completely empty XD
well depending on height of the plant and diameter of the flower, you can probably find out what variety it is.
what do you do with the flowers afterwards? are they good for bonking with?
Yeah, but it not that I eat sunflower seeds that often (actually I never ate them so far) so they will just stay for the birds :D
The stems are really big so yeah you could bonk someone 😂😂
Oh true, hello fresh sends them sometimes
As long as there are no seagulls the birds can take everything 😂
interesting....
orrrrr.... you must gift them sunflower seeds so they don't attack
They get nothing from me.
Not anymore 😂
Ohhh I didn’t know
I am sooooo excited to see how they look
yes share lots of pics!
Yesss :D
Can someone explain how I have to work so hard to keep some of the houseplants happy and then I turn around and this little seedling pops up all on its own in the exterior TRIM of my greenhouse door 🤣 I feel like the plants are just messing with me now
silly plant got lost
The craziest part is there is a bit of an overhang from the roof that'd block any rain so not only is there no soil and very cramped space, it can't be getting water from anything but the air too
theres a butterfly bush that is growing from the road pavement in our street without another butterfly bush in sight where it grows
plants
Just grabbed them for some peanuts
Are half moons a thing on Philo. Rios? 🤔
wisteria is exploding a lot so far
twas only a little sapling
hopefully in 1-2 years it will bloom
no idea but that one looks pretty
Ohh love the trellis that's on 😍
thanks! we secured fence parts to the sides of a gazebo that werent connected to a path
The fence parts were cut to size, then we guided the wisteria to the fence
Turns out a lot of the plants ended up having pink blooms here
Every single tree is surrounded by purple in contrast lol
those are looking beautiful! 🩷
Been seeing a lot of butterflies and bumblebees so far
What is she doing XD
awhh you are getting babies!!!
they are going to become their own plants basically that you can pot into diferent pots
you can also just leave it at the mother plant
okay but they look different for my other lilies :O
I am just speaking from experience
My mom used to have a spider lily and it would constantly get these babies
Idk what your other lilies look like
Also if you google spider lily babies this is like text book image you got there
Hmmm okay! ;aybe my other lillies are just slighty different :D
nice
The Begonia is flowering ~
I used to really dislike begonias for some reason.. I guess some look really scary but I'm really happy with this one
Also.. i feel like this plant may need a bigger pot
Oh my thats such a pretty plant
Its honestly a shame how little I am caring foe mine atm
They all have spots
Also overwatered my begonia 😭
So it died
D: oh nooo poor begonia
Honestly once the plant begins to droop that's my sign to water
😅😅😅
Mildly neglectful
It was that i got lazy and watered them in their pot but didn't check if they took it all up or stood in water 😅
granted i had a lot do with moving..but they also dont seem to do well with the transitioning now 😅 the light levels also dont seem to satisfy them..literally hugging the glass 😭 i thought they d do better
Plants are so picky
Tsktsk on not checking for standing water though 😜
It's okay sometimes I put some of my pickier house plants beside the balcony window during a storm so they can see their outside cousins...
"SEE THE PLANTER OUT THERE!? THEYRE NOT ONLY SURVIVNG THEY ARE THRIVING! DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR NON DISTILLED WATER"
well
they are currently looking outside to a tree ...and thats maybe not a good place for them to look at
Haha the tree is the unattainable fitness model of the plant world
I btw got a nrw stand
Oh it's cuuute! I like that is small and can be on a desk but still a tiered plant stand
something a bit different. I made this arrangement from australian native tree & shrub cuttings.
(somehow the gentle mix of scents invokes a strong connection to my childhood)
That looks gorgeous! Goes well with the countertop! Also LOVE the countertop color!
thanks, I've never arranged so many flower parts, so I'm really happy with how it turned out. 🩷
my partner is obsessed with our highlighter yellow countertop. xD it has grown on me, though I think it looks obscene in photos haha. ☺️
I do love the wattle (acacia) flowers. 😍
Lollll its definitely different but it makes it so unique and it brings personality to your kitchen! 😄
Also sameee the acacia gives such a pretty flow to the bouquet.
I am tempted to get something like a hoya or something to hang in front of the window
but I dont know if direct sun is a good idea
Hoyas typically prefer indirect light.... But if your window has a lot of sun you could try a plant like a pearl plant, or string of hearts for example
THANK YOU!
ah caps lock
Can't go wrong with more succulent type plants 😀 with a full sun window
today I woke up and had to move my plants under cover! these are the few I left out as they're more hardy and less loved and I want to see how they go lol.
pleased to report that while my plants are unhappy about winter and excess rain in general, most seem to have survived the sudden snowfall.
Plantjail, because both had milbes. My string of pearls also. But I separated it and try to save the last strings
Oopsie, money gone
@final zodiac THE FIRST ONE!!!
Ahhh
:D
its begginniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing
she's so pretty! doing a great job
yeah shes the role model for the others
