I followed Fireborn's tutorial video, so I have the Gale modloader. (update: identical symptoms with r2modman) I'm on Windows. My problem happens with BepInExPack Silksong, Modlist, Debugmod, Pantheon of Pharloom, but also appears with only Bepin and Pantheon. Debugmod works fine with or without PoPharloom.

When I finish a boss (e.g. beat Moss Mother, or die to Moss Mother), the transition initiates and then freezes. The error log reads

I searched for NullReferenceException, and some paths to fixing this may be

  • use a modloader (am doing this)
  • some shenanigans with editing global json settings---this person's error message also seems to mention transition changes. But this is a HK mod, and Silksong's analogous mods don't seem to use global setting jsons

I play version 1.5.78.11833 with Lumafly 3.3.0.0 on Windows 11, on Steam.

There is a mod called "Hall of Gods Extras", which lets me fight The Hollow Knight and Normal Radiance in the Hall of Gods. The Hollow Knight fight works as intended, but killing Normal Radiance makes the game stuck in a certain state as shown in the attached screenshot.

Interestingly, in Player.log, it looks like the Hall of Gods Extras mod itself caused the problem, as shown from line 15196 to 15215:
