mod not working

its my first time trying mod so I tried did as YouTube says but it didnt work
so firstly I downloaded mod called invincibility mod as I just wanted to enjoy the story. I extracted the file to my window screen and I opened the hollow knight folder after copying down the file that I downloaded and started the game but it didn't worked. So i was just looking through the folder for hint and there was a note saying that I should change few names of the files such as Assembly-CSharp to Assembly-CSharp-original and Assembly-CSharp-invulnerable to Assembly-Csharp. When I did as it said, when I opened my game, it just showed black screen. So i had to uninstall and reinstall on steam. It is working fine but I couldn't ge t the mode working. Can anyone help me? Did I do something wrong?

I'm not sure what you found and tried to install, but that's not how you're supposed to mod

It sounds like you found a game edit instead of normal mod

When the game is paused, you open the menu with F1, and in the Cheats menu is an Invincibility option. There's also Infinite HP, which I'd recommend using instead
