My main save file in HK is now weirdly bugged, Void Heart costs 5 notches and I can enter the birthplace again but I can't do the cutscene again. I can't unequip it, and I removed all mods and APIs and even in a completely vanilla game it still does the same thing. I even uninstalled the game and nothing happened. What should I do, I can't even play normally because half of my notches are unusable. Lastly, Scarab can't find the HK path, I didn't even change it, it just stopped working for no reason on it's own. It says it wants the Hollow Knight_Data path and even though I do give it that path it still doesn't accept it and just repeats the process, it's annoying.
#Void Heart is acting weirdly and Scarab can't find my HK path.

- VH Costing 5 notches is usually from using "better Voidheart" on that file.
- Uninstalling mods that make edits to your savefile doesn't make the edits go away
- If you reinstalled the game, then the installation directory may have changed, which is why Scarab wanted to have you enter it again
- You're misreading what Scarab is asking for. It doesn't ask for the Hollow Knight Data Path

Scarab+
This is a new version of Scarab, that fixes many of the problems with the commonly used version, as well as adds additional features (filtering by tags, filtering by new releases, offline mode and allowing you to use shareable download links):
https://themulhima.github.io/Scarab?download
So moving on from those points, you wouldn't have had the Scarab issues if you had already upgraded to Scarab+
And as far as your file goes, you have a few options

Save Files
The save files for Hollow Knight are shared between all installs of the game, and are easily interacted with.
🔹 What do the save files looks like?
- Hollow Knight save files are in the form of
user#.dat, where#is the save slot for the file.. - You can take a file named
user3.datand rename it touser1.datto set it to your first save slot. - You can keep a copy of all of your save files by copy and pasting them into a different folder on your computer.
🔹 Reverting Backup files
- You have save file backups that are called
user#.dat.bak#, where the first#is the save slot, and the second#is the backup number. Typically speaking, you will have your last three backups. - You can set a backup to be the real file by deleting the main file, and then removing the
.bak#part of the backup file.
🔹 Modded save files
- If you are using mods, a modded save may also have a
user#.modded.json(and similarly named backup). Both this file and theuser#.datare part of the save.
🔹 Where are the files?
- On windows, the default path for Save Files is
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\ - For other operating systems, type
?savesinto chat.
🔹 I need a specific type of save file
- Various save files can be found in the "Saves" section of this page:
https://www.speedrun.com/hollowknight/resources
🔹 Editing save files
You can edit various values of save files. Below are different available methods.
- Website: https://bloodorca.github.io/hollow/
- QoL mod: If you open a save file with QoL installed, you'll have an extra save file called
user#.json, which can be edited using Notepad or a similar text editor. - MoreSaves mod: With the MoreSaves mod installed, you can edit save files from the Main Menu.
- DebugMod: While not an intended purpose, you can edit some parts of your save file using Debug, such as Nail Damage, and those changes will remain even after uninstalling the mod.
You can either check your Backups of that file, or you can just edit the save
Thank you dude, but about the notches, I never downloaded anything that changes these types of things, and if I did I never even played on that save file with it. But I will upgrade and try to listen to your advice. Again bro, thank you.
Okay dude, everything is back to normal with Scarab but not with Void Heart, I can't seem to figure out how to revert it back, is there a mod that can do that or do I still have to change something in the files?
That's what all of that info about the Save Editing is about
