Downloaded a couple simple mods like custom knight, and debug. Mods folder is where it should be and HK directory is correct in Scarab but when I start HK theres no mods its just the vanilla game.

Switched to scarab after using mod installer if that could be an issue.

So you switched to 1.5 right?
You should try again with scarab+ and see if the issue stays. You can also try to reset the installer and see if that solves the problem

Scarab+
This is a new version of Scarab, that fixes many of the problems with the commonly used version, as well as adds additional features (filtering by tags, filtering by new releases, offline mode and allowing you to use shareable download links):

If that doesn't work, can you screenshot the path you're selecting please?

ran all three of the scripts reinstalled Scarab+ and made sure i was on 1.5 but the game still boots with no mods

the path selected is C:\Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed

Then there are 2 things to check I can think of : Make sure you're running scarab as admin, and:

  • Open Scarab and press the "Open Mods" button, and take a screenshot of the window that pops up (including the bar at the top).

  • Open Steam, right click on the game, select Properties, select Local Files then click Browse. Screenshot the window that pops up (including the bar at the top)

it looks like you've modded on older pateches previously? (going by the old dlls in the mods folder that are not in their own folder) - you may need to reset your installer iirc.

it's not really a problem but getting rid of the outdated mods wouldn't hurt too
