when I try to point scarab to where steam is saying that HK is it gives me the error message from the second screenshot, and I have HK closed ever time I try to point scarab at the files if that help.

How to fix Installer Errors
🔹 Make sure Hollow Knight is CLOSED.
🔹 Make sure that the installer has been Extracted from the .zip and that the new folder isn't in your Downloads folder.
🔹 Right-click the installer file, and select "Run as Administrator".

I have the same issue rn, followed all instructions from fireborn's vid and the #start-modding channel. I also have tried deleting the team cherry folder in LocalLow and hk in steamapps/common... The issue persists
Interestingly, the game doesn't crash on launch, it just blackscreens
i do see the hk cursor tho
any help would be appreciated
