RENAULT F1 TEAM IS BACK
After the change of engine manufacturer from Alpine to Mercedes, the Renault group decided to return to F1 in order to maintain the jobs of their employees in Viry-Chatillon.
In terms of infrastructure, they decided to expand their plant in Viry-Chatillon to also take over the chassis design.
Cyril Abiteboul is back as Renault’s CEO.
Two former pilots from the French firm are returning.
Driver 1: Robert Kubica. He was a Renault driver in 2010 before having a serious car accident. He signs a two-season contract until the end of 2025
Driver 2: Jack Aitken joined the Renault Sport Academy in 2016 and were the reserve driver of the brand. He has only competed in one Grand Prix, replacing George Russell at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. He signs a one-season contract
