Today it was announced that Artemis F1 Team has been approved to enter the 2024 Formula One World Championship as the 11th team on the grid. This team, an all women backed venture, is based out of Affalterbach, Germany in the Baden-Wüttemberg region. Named after the Greek goddess of the hunt, hunting is exactly what new Team Principal Madison Collins says this team is going to be doing.

“We understand that we are the newest team on the grid, and while we’ve received a fantastic welcome from within the paddock F1 is still very much a man’s arena. We’re here to show the world that we’re hungry with a desire to improve and to eventually challenge the teams at the top of the grid. We aren’t just here to make up the numbers.”

Artemis will be supplied with the Mercedes-AMG powertrain and driven by F1 newcomers Inger Lund, a 23 year-old rally driver from Norway, and Emily Ratcliffe, a debutant in DTM just a year ago from England who clocks in at just 19 years-old.

The behind-the-scenes staff consists of Technical Chief April Godoy, Head of Aerodynamics Sarah Seaber, Renate Zimmerman as the Sporting Director, and Race Engineers Donna O’Brien and Isabella Hook backing Lund and Ratcliffe respectively.

So, what can this team do? We’ll soon find out as the season is set to begin with the opening round of the 2024 Formula One Championship in Bahrain in just a few short weeks.

The Artemis F1 Team made history today by unveiling their first ever car to be entered in to the F1 World Constructor’s Championship. Their livery features turquoise and green in metallic, both of which are associated with their namesake goddess, and accented by a white gloss. Their title sponsor for the year will be the technology company Arcoar, who are said to have made a significant upfront investment in the team.

Qualifying is over here at the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix. Max Verstappen took the inaugural pole of the year over teammate Sergio Perez, safely securing the top spot by more than two tenths of a second with a time of 1:29.782. McLaren’s Lando Norris took third on the grid but found himself almost half a second adrift of the pole sitter. Red Bull Racing are starting out 2024 certainly looking to be class of the field once more.

Meanwhile, the newest team on the grid saw their hopes of a debut Q2 dashed as Emily Ratcliffe missed out on making the second session by finishing in P17, just thirty-six hundredths of a second behind KICK Sauber’s Valterri Bottas with a time of 1:31.552. Her more experienced teammate, Inger Lund, could do no better than a 20th place starting position on the grid by turning in a best lap of 1:31.794. However, as they say, points are won on a Sunday, but both drivers will have to up their pace and hope for a bit of luck to sniff the top 10 on race day.
