Today it was announced that Artemis F1 Team has been approved to enter the 2024 Formula One World Championship as the 11th team on the grid. This team, an all women backed venture, is based out of Affalterbach, Germany in the Baden-Wüttemberg region. Named after the Greek goddess of the hunt, hunting is exactly what new Team Principal Madison Collins says this team is going to be doing.
“We understand that we are the newest team on the grid, and while we’ve received a fantastic welcome from within the paddock F1 is still very much a man’s arena. We’re here to show the world that we’re hungry with a desire to improve and to eventually challenge the teams at the top of the grid. We aren’t just here to make up the numbers.”
Artemis will be supplied with the Mercedes-AMG powertrain and driven by F1 newcomers Inger Lund, a 23 year-old rally driver from Norway, and Emily Ratcliffe, a debutant in DTM just a year ago from England who clocks in at just 19 years-old.
The behind-the-scenes staff consists of Technical Chief April Godoy, Head of Aerodynamics Sarah Seaber, Renate Zimmerman as the Sporting Director, and Race Engineers Donna O’Brien and Isabella Hook backing Lund and Ratcliffe respectively.
So, what can this team do? We’ll soon find out as the season is set to begin with the opening round of the 2024 Formula One Championship in Bahrain in just a few short weeks.
