#Affiliates - Covering races

I could definitely see the possibility of adding in random illnesses; that’s occurred a couple of times in the last few seasons. The injury system though I think might be a stretch. For one even though we all know motorsport is dangerous no one really wants to think about drivers getting hurt or killed though the possibility always exists. It isn’t like football where you may tear an Achilles or knee or rugby where you can get concussions or broken noses. In motorsport you have incidents like Fernando’s in Australia or Zhou’s in Britain that, in reality, a lot of drivers wouldn’t walk away from; it’s a testament to F1’s pursuit of ever increasing safety standards ever since Senna/Ratzenberger’s deaths in 1994 that we’ve only had one death in F1 since that time and only a few major injuries (Schumacher’s broken leg and Danny’s broken wrists come to mind). I think the other consideration is where do you draw the line on the type of injury sustained and how do you code that type of variable in to the game.
If there’s a reluctance towards simulating injuries then another interesting way to do this, alongside illness, could be implementing penalty points. There’s already a penalty system in game so adding the points to this could lead to a driver occasionally facing a race ban and an affiliate having to step into their seat
@unreal ore if you can I would also think about renaming this thread to something like “Affiliate stand-ins” or “Affiliates covering races” to differentiate it from other affiliate ones
No problem 🙂 I think the aim of your idea is a good one. The other interesting thing about race bans is that it could introduce another management decision - do you fine your driver their wages for that race week which puts some money back in the bank but risks upsetting them in the new mentality system
