What are your infra costs ?

#

Do you run on k8s or vms ?

tropic sun
#

I run Azure container apps

#

@orchid bane

#

reading the docs i think its superior

#

what do you run

orchid bane
#

how much do you pay a month ?

tropic sun
#

container apps is free to start off with we havent had any heavy use. yet

orchid bane
#

It depend but for small non HA single node k8s cluster 4vCPU 8GB

tropic sun
#

azure container apps is serverless

#

have you considerd oracle cloud

#

you will get a free tier

orchid bane
#

but you pay for it later

#

what is the long term cost ?

#

24 months ?

tropic sun
#

i dont have any sample data to share but i assume it is rather cheap

#

maybe if you can prove me wrong

orchid bane
#

okey i host it for 7.31 euro

#

month

#

and this is a static cost

tropic sun
#

would you say you save alot of money over ec2

orchid bane
#

depending on size wont change

tropic sun
#

we moved from ec2

orchid bane
#

yes

#

aws is expensive

#

i run on hetzner

tropic sun
#

okay tbanks for the information i agree

orchid bane
#

You have regions in US

#

and EU so its enough

tropic sun
#

Is germany the nearest for eu

orchid bane
#

depending on scale

tropic sun
#

we are london

orchid bane
#

So you have it in frankfurt

#

but i could run my setup on any vm with ssh access

#

so multicloud out of the box

#

depending on scale i could run the cluster in different modes

tropic sun
#

that does seem good i can maybe consider it for redis ect

#

i do think serverlss is important at scale

orchid bane
#

i run redis and psql on a single node for non critical and small scale shops its enough

#

CDN more important

#

but CF for a good tier

tropic sun
orchid bane
tropic sun
#

we use vercel for sites

#

and this for backend

#

so we can be double serverless

#

as for redis / db we think this will be in constant use

orchid bane
#

so what is the end cost ?

tropic sun
#

no clients yet 😢

#

but in theory it works well

orchid bane
#

This diagrams looks expensive

#

As i said my whole prod setup is 7.31 eur/month

#

and run on ARM64 good performance and cheaper ndoes

#

nodes

#

similar size on AWS is 120 $ XD

orchid bane
#

this is a kind of setup you would run for a corpo or startup that want to burn money 😄

hazy totem
#

@orchid bane we run containers on AWS, for awhile we had free credit for being a startup, but it is pricier that some competitors might be. We are working on a way to run multiple Medusa instances on the same pod which would enable us to scale up with much less cost.

orchid bane
#

why AWS ? its just extra cost right now

hazy totem
#

We have invested quite a bit into our infrastructure and have clients paying for it, so it's not quite worth it for us to spend the time to move right now.

orchid bane
#

use single node k8s nodes on hetzner

#

ah sue if they are paying its good 😉
