whats the best way to study math igcse? (except past papers)
You can perhaps try making mind maps of each topic
In GCSEs, the contents are relatively light enough that mindmapping should be a breeze
(at least compared to the crao we have now)
Basically write down your chapter/unit/topic name at the centre and then branch out by splitting the topic into its individual components.
hmm ok thanks
Hi if anyone here is taking sociology Iām stuck on a question I havenāt been able to answer for a while since I literally donāt know the answer, the question is,
To what extent do ethical issues influence the way sociological research is carried out.
This question is a 15 mark
If anyone's taking economics here, i'm thinking of giving the economics exam this may on a self study basis, any recommendations on how i should prepare for it, currently on demand and supply
If your doing eco, main focus other than just remembering most things is understanding what type of situations can affect your d&s curve and wether it would shift the curve or cause movement
Demand and supply is more of a simpler topic so not much to worry about
Remember key terms and remember factors affecting graphs and I think you should be good
i kind of get confused on how to answer questions, like in explain questions, how much do i need to explain, and how to even solve analyse questions
discuss questions i can still wrap my head around so they're relatively solvable
I donāt rlly know how to answer that but here
When your answering a question like āHow does a change in substitute x price affect substitute yāall marketā
Explain as thoroughly as you can, if u need to write a lot, do so, as long as what you are writing is correct
Depends on the amount of marks, a 2 mark is just a sentence or so, 4 marks can be around 2 points and 8 marks can be 4 points
When a question with the word analyse comes, link it to the test by mentioning the businessās name or the goods name
Ah i see, ty :>
@spiral helm ok so...
1: define ethical issues
2: give an example (like racism) then explain how racist behaviour of either the researcher or the sample of people being researched would affect the research.
Include examples of sociologists that faced these issues while researching.
3: repeat #2 atleast 2 more times.
I'm new to sociology btw. I'm sorry if these steps were incorrect or something.
I know this but I was literally asking for the answer, itās fine tho, thanks, I did it myself

im not happy with my result
you got all A"s
i gotta study ard
nope
not all
5 a"
ok bye
I got A* in islamiyat I might be able to help
One thing to note is that Islamiyat is pretty much a memorization based subject. There's nothing else involved. Extremely long answers arent exactly necessary btw as long as your answer contains sufficient information.
One way to improve your answers is to include Quranic verses or Hadith as a reference. I remembered them by actually going through the English translated version of the Quran and memorizing ones which would help me get a good score. My teacher also gave us notes which not only contained the Quranic verses and hadith but as well as detailed info of each and every event
I got lucky that I was blessed with good teachers because without a good teacher especially in islamiyat, getting a good grade is difficult
cool
man i got a 9 in my english IGCSE's by one mark above the grade boundary šššš
Edexcel?
yep
im afraid i cant say that XD
My bad, did you do the coursework version of English
Romeo and Juliet and that stuff? @severe widget

time management
Oh ok like in the test I see

hey guys, so next monday i have an english spoken language endorsement assessment due to hand in + present, but i dont know how to start/what topics to choose. this assessment basically just a speech talking abt some political issues, why it should be stopped etc. this doesnt count on my report card but itās very helpful for me to find universities in the future. would anyone care to help by dming me privately please? tysm!!
are you taking 0500?
I fucking got 86
I actually failed every single major subject (math, physics, etc)
What do I do
My friendās sister is hacking I swear
She got 99
I need some guidance/advice since I'm picking my GCSEs soon. Any tips are greatly appreciated
Do u have any subjects in mind
yea and what are you more inclined towards? STEM or humanities?
what sorta stuff are u more interested in? like for example above they said STEM, humanities etc
or if u wanna go for medicine when ur older, engineering, or business economist stuffs, etc etc
Hi, does anyone here do the Additional Mathematics syllabus of Cambridge?
Is this the Singapore Cambridge version
Like o lvls?
Btw does anyone know the difference between gcse and o lvls
Technically both are the same
Yuh I mean I guess like in olevels we have caies and in igsce we have igsces like higher lower and stuff.. But like we have the same books usually
Like the exams are different
Gcses have a lower magnitude in the market whereas Olevels are quite looked for by companies
Nope Mauritius
found this online
thanks
what websites can you guys recommend me for the mocks test gsces?
Hi, I'm going to choose my GCSE options soon, which subjects are best? I'm currently thinking about D&T, Computer Science, Triple science and geography; based on my interests what would you recommend? And do you think these subjects are hard to study and understand when doing GCSEs? Advice appreciated, thanks :)
I know for certain I want to pursue something in history & politics. I've settled on definitely doing a history gcse but not sure about anything else.
also I'm very passionate about art so that aswell
Yo basically anybody from the uk tell me what they have learnt in gcse history cuz I might pick it (itās better than Geography)
I pick my options in febuary
Gcse history generally depends on the topics but if you like it more than geography I would just pick it
I was between geography and history so Iām happy with my choices
Yh me too geography is easier assessments but history I find more entertaining
Thank yu tho mate
Whatās gcse?
general certificate of secondary education
based in the UK
Oh, I donāt know what that is
Oh itās why U dint get it then
huh
He meant a thatās why he didnāt get it
ohh
should i take chem or physics for igcse
Oh but in sg why is it called ordinary levels
Do uk which one is harder?
they're the same
both are based on the high school curriculum
Medicinal studies or engineering? You choose
What's your ambitions?
Apparently the sg government changes the paper a little to make it harder?
And is further maths is the same as additional maths?
No
Yes
The Singapore Ministry of Education does its own O-levels that is recognised by Cambridge or any other respective exam board
And your exams are significantly harder than regular O levels
I am not sure how other countries view your qualifications if not better than regular O levels
Oh
I didnāt know that
Iām struggling in additional maths rnšš
How so?
I am but idk that the sg version was harder
Further maths is GCE A levels' version of additional mathematics
It's essentially university level maths
None
I struggled with mine when I first started
What are your ambitions?
What sectors or fields are you interested in?
smth along the lines of art
Go for humanities
my school doesnt have that
Humanities is not a subject
It is a group of subjects
Like how biology and physics falls under science
Both are equally hard but may be easier depending on your strengtbs
Physics will come in handy if you do choose to become an architect
i scored higher in chem last exam
You had chem before you took GCSEs?
i mean school final exam
No I mean, your school offers chemistry, physics and bio before your actual GCSE studies?
yes
I've never actually heard of that
secondary level
They usually just mush everything together
If you score better in chem maybe that is your calling
that was for primary level
Ur also singaporean?
But thereās also GCSE further maths right
Moles and electrochemistry was the bane of me it's hard for me
As far as I'm concerned, that just additional maths
You can improve mole calculation via maths but electrochemistry will be pretty much straightforward in GCSEs if you understand the basic concept
Bransion, I've done a bit of checking and as it turns out, it is different across different exam boards
CIE offers additional maths during O levels and further maths during A/AS levels albeit this further maths is much more advanced than other exam board's O level further maths
It's quite confusing as there is no standardisation amongst the different exam boards
It is available with scratch cod in book but you can only access on cambridge website you cant download the pdf. I need the pdf too myself
If anyone has please send
She*
Yhea I meant I*
hey i want to do computer science for my GCSE what do i need to know?
@restive storm learn programming language
there are many fields
like web development, game development, app dev, software, operating system etc
@devout plank
Further Pure maths
which ones?
ik a lot of python
and a little bit of html and javascript
E
any programming language can make your career different type of language are used in different fields like javascript and html css for web site and java for app development etc
u must find what u want to do in future
Yes, different programming languages are used for different purposes and are used in different fields. For example, HTML and CSS are used to create and style websites, while Java is a popular language for developing mobile and desktop applications. Python is a versatile language that is commonly used for data analysis, machine learning, and web development.
listen im dunno what to do with my life im just looking at different gcses and what i want to do comp sci is a maybe rn
Hi guys do you think D&T is a solid subjects for gcses?
In a bit unsure cuz some of the older students in my school didn't recommend taking it in particular
Well, if you enjoy it you should take it. It can also get you jobs such as a graphic designer for products.
can someone describe science single, double or triple specifications in simple terms?
Single specification means that an experiment is done only once.
Double specification means that an experiment is done twice.
Triple specification means that an experiment is done three times.
yh thank u, i am quite interested in those jobs atm
Could you elaborate what an experiment exactly is? Is like something like a practical test?
hey guys, im in as levels rn and i have my igcse marks but most of the universities have a gpa requirement and my school doesn't provide that, any ideas on how im supposed to calculate it
p.s i've got above 80 in all of my 5 subjects if that's needed
what grades did u get
A's
is probably above a 3.5 in the 4.0 scale then at least, since what i know is that a 9 in the edexcel scale is a solid 4.0
could be wrong about the 3.5 tho but just an estimate
Yeah
I have no idea about GPA, but I suggest you ask your teachers to help you with the calculation if the school isn't ready to provide it since they have very good knowledge about it.
It's your wish though.
Any tips for an Analytical Paragraph? I want to do some practice as my paragraphs quickly turns into me waffling. Ideal length and Techniques would be appreciated
actually i need some help as well so if anyone got tips?
but anyway i came here to ask what is the different between art & design vs design & technology
design and technology is like the making things sort of one with wood and other materials art and design is art like drawing and stuff and designing (aesthetics) of objects
hm alr i think imma do art thx a lot tho
@sudden remnant pythagoras theorem of the iambic pentameter of my trapezium-shaped hairline
