Does Fabricate work with the new Mechanologist Headpiece "Breaker Helm Protos"?

I think the general consesus is no, it does not, but I don't think we're certain on it.
Per the CR, partial matches don't apply for naming cards, so the "Proto" in Protos is not the same as having just "Proto" in the name.

We have confirmation from Josh Scott that fabricate can't equip it, but the CR is currently unclear as to why

2.7.5. A name or part of a name is equal to another name or part of a name only if it is an exact case-insensitive match.
Example: Censor has the text “When this hits a hero, name a card. They can’t play the named card until the end of their next turn.” If the named card is “Blazing Aether”, the effect would not prevent the player from playing “Trailblazing Aether.”
